Will Courtney Demolish her Marriage to Jason?

With Jason more involved in the Mob than ever and a handsome new guy more than a little interested, could General Hospital's Courtney be heading for a fall… right into Brian's open arms?

Buried Feelings

"Right now, Courtney is all about putting her feelings aside completely and just being there for her family," explains her portrayer, Alicia Leigh Willis.  And they need a whole lot of support, what with Carly's post-traumatic-stress-inducing romantic quagmire and Sonny being tried for attempted murder.

All of this has left Jason's wife without a whole lot of time to deal with the loss of her own baby or the fact that she may never be able to have another one.  "Courtney pushes back her feelings of wanting a baby, but she can't let it go either."

Now the question becomes: Just how long can Courtney continue to suppress her emotions, and what will the impact on her life be? "She has to be strong for her family right now, and put on a happy face for everybody else."

Baby Blues

Sadly, Courtney's good intentions have served to open her up to even more pain. After all, she's been spending more and more time with Michael who represents everything she wants and yet may never be able to have. And every time she rocks Morgan to sleep, the effect on her psyche grows.  "it's not just because of the baby she lost," explains headwriter Robert Guza Jr., "but because she lost it because of herself."

Of Love And Loss

Ironically, as Courtney suppresses her emotions from those around her, there is actually someone who might be able to relate. "There are parallels with Sonny, who also blames himself for the loss of his children," admits Guza. "it becomes increasingly resonant for Courtney as time passes and as the idea [germinates] of what it is going to do to her marriage.

"Will it pull [her and Jason] closer together," he concludes, "or drive them further apart?" Only time will tell. Stay tuned!
