Soap Opera Digest, September 2, 2003 - Killing Time
Will Carly and Courtney
be caught in the crossfire when Alcazar's reign of terror puts him atop Sonny
and Jason's hit lists?
This week on GH,
Carly and Courtney try to keep secrets from their significant others while
Sonny and Jason set out to bring down the man who has turned their lives upside
down. Will either pair's plan work? Here’s the scoop.
Jason and Courtney Reunite!
Recuperating in a South American clinic, Courtney freaks when she learns that
she lost her and Jason’s baby, forcing the attending doctor to sedate her.
Jolted when Alcazar shows up poising as her fiancé , she’s relived when Jason
arrives. Safe back in her lover's arms, Courtney travels back to Port Charles,
the death of her unborn child giving her nightmares in which Jason accuses her
of killing the baby. She comes thisclose to filling in Jason on her
pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage… but she . Instead she withdraws from his
touch.
“Courtney’s guilt over what happened on that boat with Alcazar causes her to
pull back from Jason,” explains co-headwriter Charles Pratt Jr. “ She knows the
only solution to this is to come clean and tell him what happened but she’s
afraid that will cost her Jason’s love.”
Courtney Confesses
Back home at last, Courtney finally releases some of her pain by telling Carly
that she lost her baby. Although reluctant to do so, Carly agrees to keep
silent about the matter. At the same time, Jason tells Sonny that he can’t get
Courtney to open up about what happened while she was with Alcazar. Sonny retorts
that he wouldn’t put it past Alcazar to have raped her. However, says Ted King,
"There’s no reason for him to do something like that to Courtney. At this
point, he’s not vicious. He’s business like. He wants to move his product
through Sonny’s territory and he’ll do it at any cost.” After avoiding being
gunned down by Jason, Alcazar shows up at the PH, not only looking for a truce
with Sonny, but also eager to apologize to Carly for mistreating her.
Jason Breaks Down
Later, Courtney learns that she may not be able to have children and tells
Jason the truth. He, of course, is wonderfully understanding. But once alone he
shows that he is devastated. “Jason’s much easier to forgive than Sonny,” says
Guza. "Courtney says that he shouldn’t forgive her that easily. Then Jason
has to realize that maybe he’s sweeping it under the rug. Even though they live
in this sort of hyper- real world, they truly struggle with the things all
relationships struggle with - communication.”
