Willis enjoys her 'General Hospital' love triangle
Their relationship began as a friendship and grew into a deep love. They have become one of the most popular couples on "General Hospital." There's just one little problem: Courtney Matthews and Jason Quartermaine (Alicia Leigh Willis, Steve Burton) are married to other people.
Courtney was tricked into marriage to Jason's sibling,A.J.(Billy Warlock) who wanted to get back at her brother, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Jason got hitched to Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) so they didn't have to testify against each other in a murder trial.
Yes, it sounds complicated, but it makes perfect sense to Willis. "They've fallen for each other, and I don't think she's ever had feelings like this for another person," she says. "It's a whole new ballgame. Of course, there's this little taboo because it's her husband's brother. "But when you look more closely at the situation, you see that neither of their marriages are legitimate, so I don't really see anything wrong with what they are doing."
Since joining the show a little more than a year ago, Willis admits her character has gained a great deal of depth and has had to grow up fast.
"When she first came onto the show, she hadn't had relationships with that many people," Willis says. "Now, she has all of these people in her life. She has her dad and her brother and this husband who doesn't even really like her that much. She's had to learn how to deal with people and how to get herself out of difficult situations. It's been a learning process for the both of us. I like to think I'm just a bit smarter than Courtney when it comes to relationships."
Willis has done several films and prime-time guest spots. She also played Alli Fowler on "Another World" for six months, but she says her role on "GH" is a whole different animal. "It's a little crazy because it moves so fast. Usually in a film, you might be doing a scene a day, if that. For the Thanksgiving episode on 'GH ', I did 43 in one day. But it's the good kind of crazy. No complaints here,"
