The Back Story:  When a raging fire broke out at the Port Charles Hotel, Courtney raced inside, eager to find husband Jason.  But what she encountered instead was elderly hotel guest Louise and her quivering, frightened dog.

The Race: Ever the good Samaritan, Courtney postponed her search for Jason, helped Louise down the smoky stairwell and even went back inside for the dog.  By the time she brought the pooch to safety, the window of opportunity for saving Jason had passed.  The fact that Jason eventually made it out of the inferno alive was reward enough got Court, but grateful Louise disagreed. The wealthy dowager insisted on giving Courtney $10 million and a section of coveted waterfront property! Overwhelmed, Courtney at first resisted, but Louise suggested that the soon-to-be single young woman use the money to start over. Swayed at last Courtney cashed the check!

The Result: Eager to distance herself from Jason's mob world and assert her own independence, Courtney first purchased the love nest she and Jason once shared and then announced that she was the new owner of the pier!  However, angry Jason suspected her of sabotaging his shipments.  Turning down Jax's job offer, Courtney set herself up in business, but was immediately pressed to relinquish the territory by local crime diva, Faith.  Will Courtney use her newfound wealth to find the success and independence she seeks?  Or will mob pressure god her every step?
