*NOTE* Sonny & Carly are married, their daughter Morgan was born, & Alcazar isn't in love with Carly. The dates in the story are made up -- I'm not running this from spoilers or anything! Enjoy :o)

-Prologue-

November 28, 2004

"Don't worry, I'll be back in a few hours. Don't wait up for me," said Jason, as he kissed Courtney good-bye.

"Not possible. I will be right here, awake, when you come back. You just better bring me and this baby some food!" she laughed, resting her hand on her stomach.

Jason smiled as he thought of his child that had been inside of his wife for seven months. "I will," he said, as he put on his leather jacket and walked out the door.

-Chapter 1-

Courtney felt her eyes slowly closing and her view of the magazine she was reading got darker and darker as fatigue overcame her and she fell into a deep sleep.

Three hours later she was awoken to her shoulders being shaken, and she opened her eyes to see Carly standing over her, with panic in her eyes.

"Courtney, Courtney...wake up!"

"C...Carly? What time is it? What's the...?" Courtney was confused, and it seemed as if she were in a dream.

"Courtney, something's wrong with Jason. You need to wake up."

"What happened?" Courtney shot straight up, panic in her voice.

"Well, I..." Carly's voice trailed off as she tried to make Courtney sit back down.

Courtney struggled to get back up. "Oh, my God! What happened? Carly, TELL ME!" It was her turn to shake Carly's shoulders.

"He...he was shot. He had gone on an errand for Sonny and one of Alcazar's men shot him in the back."
