Differences Ch.1

Another day in Paradise, Port Charles that is, I figure I might as well stop at Kelly's on my way out this morning, it could be a long day. Jason Morgan, known and feared assistant of the infamous Sonny Corinthos.  He turned around the corner looking at the sky deep in thought when he walked into Kelly's.  He walked up to the counter and order the usual, black coffee and then picked up the morning paper.  He began reading the front story while walking out of the café.

"Oww!"  A pretty blonde screamed when Jason ran into her spilling his scolding hot coffee down her front.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, are you ok-" he stopped his sentence suddenly realizing that the women he had bumped into was one of the most beautiful people he had ever seen. "-please, let me buy you a coffee" he not only noticed how beautiful this girl was but also that she was confided to a wheel chair.

"I suppose that would be nice" she smiled realizing how handsome her new friend was.  They moved to a table and Jason ordered two coffees, one black, and one with cream and sugar, he headed back to the table keen to find out about the new mystery women.

"So, what is your name?"

"Courtney and yours?"

"Jason."

"Well hello Jason." She stuck her hand out for him to shake and he took it willingly, her heart fluttered when she looked into his eyes, ocean blue full of depth no one else saw.

"Hello" he was mesmerized, lost in her icing blue eyes that had so much joy and love tucked into one shining package. "Would you mind telling me how you, you know ended up in a wheel chair?"

"Ohh, well it happened on my prom night, my boyfriend Jake, my Sara and her boyfriend John were on our way home and we got in a car accident.  I woke up in the hospital 3 weeks later, the doctor told me I may never walk again." She smiled; she had obviously made peace with the situation.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, I'm ok with it, it has made me look at my life in a different way." She flashed him a smile and took a sip of her coffee.    "So what do you do?"

"Well, I import coffee."

"That’s neat, I guess." She gave him a half smile and then giggled, making her face and eyes glow.

"Yeah…" Jason let himself get lost in her eyes and didn't realize that he has said any thing.  He finally caught himself and stopped staring like a drooling puppy at her. "So are you new in town?"

"Yes, I just moved here.

"Well then welcome to Port Charles"

"Why thank you." Again with that smile.  Courtney finished her coffee and sat the cup down.

"Do you want some more?" he gestured to the cup and she shook her head to accept.  He left the table leaving Courtney alone to watch him.  The way he walked, the way he moved, the way he talked.  She glanced down at the table when he turned around waiting at the counter.  He turned around to watch her, the way she avoided looking at him, the way her eyes sparkled as she took in her surroundings.  She turned to look at him and gave me a sweet smile making him melt into the floor.

"Sir?  Sir? Hello, excuse me sir?!?!" Jason snapped back to reality and took the two refilled cups of coffee.  He walked back to the table

Ring, Ring, Ring, his cursed phone always seemed to go off on the wrong time.

"I'm sorry, I have to leave so quickly but this is important, maybe we could go out sometime?"

"I would like that, would you like my number?" she pulled a pen from her purse and quickly scribbled her number down on a napkin then handed it to him, their hands brushed slightly sending a rush of emotion through both.

"I'm sorry, I will call you later, I promise." He quickly headed out of the café and answered his phone, peaking again into the window to watch her.  She had already moved towards the back counter and was putting on an apron, a few moments later she grabbed a bucket and started to clean off tables.  A bus girl, a bus girl, a beautiful bus girl.

"Morgan? Jason Morgan?"  He was interrupted by the man on the other line.

"Yeah, I'm here." He turned and put his hand in his pocket running it over the napkin, anxious for the evening when he could call her.

A few hours later..

Courtney got home and jumped in the shower anxious for Jason to call.  She let the hot water soothe her tired body, wheeling around a wheel chair all day was not the most comfortable thing.  She heard the phone ring while she was showering.  5 rings later his voice filled her loft.  Hey Courtney this is Jason, the one who spilled coffee on you today.  I just wanted to know if you still wanted to go out tonight I can pick you up around 7.  If you don't want to come just call and let me know, if not I will come around 7.  She climbed out and picked a nice outfit to wear; a nice purple-pink dress with small white heels.  She wheeled herself over to the dresser and picked out nail polish and started to paint her nails.

Jason's stomach was turning, was she going to call or not.  At around 6:00 he decided that she wanted him to come and went to take a shower.  She ran trough his mind, her eyes, her smile, her laugh.  Everything was so perfect.  He climbed out of the shower and walked to his room.  He chose nice black dress pants and blue shirt.  He couldn't stop thinking about her.

**Flashback**

"Well, I import coffee."

"That’s neat, I guess." She gave him a half smile and then giggled, making her face and eyes glow.

**End Flashback**

She finished getting ready and waited by the door.  What if this was all a cruel joke and she would be waiting all night for him?  No, he wouldn't do that.  I haven't known him for 24 hours and already I am saying that.  I don’t even know him.  The clock continued to click past minutes, 6:30, 6:31, never going fast enough a new butterfly fluttering in both of their stomach with each minute.

At 6:50 Jason left the house and climbed I his car, driving to the address that she had written on the napkin.  He walked up to the 3rd floor, second loft and knocked lightly waiting, fearing that it might be the wrong room, or that she wasn’t even home.

She waited and waited the fear that he was going to stand her up growing in her gut, her brain thinking the worst and her heart getting ready to break in half and then again shattered in small pieces.  She heard footsteps in the hall, coming closer to the room, then stopping, and then it came.  A knock…
