Chapter 2
He waited nervously for her to come to the door. As it opened he couldn't stop his mouth from
doing the same. She noticed him staring
at her and giggled. After the accident
no one had looked at her like that. Her
laugh had brought him back to reality.
"Courtney, you look beautiful" he walked around
behind her and started to push her out the door. She turned to look up into those eyes that seemed so pure, so
perfect.
"Well, you don't look to shabby yourself!" she
laughed at her joke while he joined and they headed towards the elevator.
When they arrived at the Cellar they chose a table and sat
down. Jason went to the bar and came
back with 2 glasses of white wine.
"Let's make a toast" he proposed and then took her
hand. She didn't shudder, that is a good thing. He raised his glass up as she did the same.
"And what is it that we are toasting to?" she
giggled and gave him a quizzical look.
"Fate, bringing us here together tonight; and to you
for still letting me take you out after I spilled coffee on you." She
smiled and they tapped their glasses together.
After about five minutes Courtney excused herself to the bathroom. Jason watched in awe of how beautiful she
was; even if she was confided to a wheel chair some how he knew that she would
walk again she had the will power to do so.
**
Courtney wheeled towards the bathroom, just as she passed
the men's room door it flew open and the man walking out ran into her.
"WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING STUPID CRIPPLE!!" he
shouted in her face and was about to walk away when he was met face to face
with the most feared man in all of Port Charles.
"Apologize to her right now." He said through
gritted teeth. Courtney watched in awe,
how did I end up with such a caring man,
who also happens to be gorgeous??!!!??
"She should watch were she is goi-" the man was
stopped by Jason's death stare.
"I believe I asked you to apologize?? Now say you're sorry and no one will get
hurt." He stared at the man intently and finally he turned around.
"I am sorry for yelling at you miss." He turned
back to Jason, gave him a look and then hurriedly rushed back to his seat.
"I'm sorry about that, are you ok." He moved
towards her wanting to make sure no emotional harm was done.
"No, I am fine, just, thank you no one has ever stood
up for me like that before."
"You can always count on me."
"Well I am going to go to the restroom now; I will be
back at the table in a few moments." She wheeled away and pushed the door
open leaving Jason in the hall way. He
turned on his heels and headed back to the table. When she arrived back at the table they ordered their meals and
fell into a light conversation.
"So what brought you to Port Charles?" he looked
into her eyes and got lost for a moment.
How did such beautiful eyes earn the curse of not being able to run and
see with them?
"I am looking for my dad." She smiled and returned
to her meal.
"I-I could help you look for him?" he looked at
her and gave her a reassuring smile.
Her eyes shot up and sparkled at the offer.
"You, you would do that for me?" she was falling
faster by the moment.
"Of course." He smiled and reached over to take
her hand. She let him while tingles ran
up and down her hand, arm, spine and her heart started to beat faster. She smiled up at him.
"Thank you Jason" she bite her lip not sure what
to say next. In the back ground music
started to play.
"Courtney, would you like to dance?"
"Jason, I am in a wheel chair, how do you think I am
going to dance with you?"
"I will carry you." He stood up and walked over to her.
"WHAT??" he scooped her up and held her like a
princess over to the dance floor.
Remember that blue
crystal sky
The sun reflected in your eyes
Kissed me unexpectedly
A moment I just can't forget
We filled the air with promises
He walked her over to the dance floor, holding her close.
"Everyone is staring at us." She blushed deeply
and then looked up at him.
"Let them look."
Took them up so tenderly
But life never asks you what you want
It's just gonna have its way
Sometimes it doesn't give like it takes
Carly walked into her club then and noticed the couple on the floor that
were dancing in the weirdest way ever.
With closer inspection she realized it was Jason and a mysterious
blonde. Why is he carrying her? She
scanned the club and her eyes settled on a wheel chair.
If I never see your face
If wings take you away from me
And tomorrow never happens, baby
If the world comes tumbling down
And crumbles all around us
"Did I thank you yet for standing up for me earlier?"
"Yes" he smiled at her, lost in her beauty, amazed
by it at the same time.
"Ohh, well thank you again." She looked up at him
and they both got lost in the others eyes.
Fate turns cruel
You're on your knees
So desperate for one truth
Know that I have loved you
Don't think I'll write another letter
Watching there the pink sunset
Without thinking about you
I take a walk along the blue seaside
How will I sleep at night
How will I wipe the tears from your eyes
If I never see your face
If wings take you away from me
And tomorrow never happens, baby
If the world comes tumbling down
And crumbles all around us
Fate turns cruel
You're on your knees
So desperate for one truth
Know that I have loved you
Without a single hesitation
Without thought or reservation Baby,
I'll be waiting
Even if I never see your face
And wings take you away from me
And tomorrow never happens, baby
If the world comes tumbling down
And crumbles all around us
Fate turns cruel
You're on your knees
So desperate for one truth
Know that I have loved you
I have loved you
If I never see your face
If wings take you away from me
With all my heart and all my soul
The world comes tumbling
And crumbling all around
I have loved you
As the song ended they stayed on the floor for a moment
before Carly came up and tapped Jason on the shoulder.
"Ohh my goodness Carly!" he turned to her and
smiled and carried Courtney back to the table.
He sat her down in her chair and then turned to Carly.
"Can I steal you for just a minute Jase?" Carly
then tugged on his arm and started to pull him over to a corner.
"I'll be right back Courtney!" he let Carly drag
him the rest of the way to the corner and then she took a serious tone with
him.
"Jason, what are you doing here with that girl?"
"I am here on a date, with her, met her at Kelly's this
morning." He looked back at her for a moment smiled to himself and then
turned back to Carly.
"She is in a wheel chair Jase. Are you sure that is something you can deal
with?" she recognized that glazed
look in his eye, but worried about what a woman in a wheel chair would do to
his life.
"Of course I can Carly, I am not even sure if she is
interested in me."
"Alright, just don’t hurt her Jason."
Never. "I'm
not going to! Now can I please get back
to her?" Carly agreed to let him
go and he walked back to the table.
Courtney was intently looking at her thumbs, which she was twiddling.
"Sorry about that" he sat down in his chair and
then laughed at the small jump she made when he broke her trance.
"Who was that?" she stared back at the woman, her
mind racing, maybe he just took me out to
say sorry, maybe he is, already dating.
"My best friend and boss's wife."
"Ohh, well that’s nice, I hope I am not keeping you
from anything." She smiled again, thankful that he wasn't in a
relationship.
"Thanks a lot for joining me tonight Courtney."
"Thank you for bringing me, and for dancing with
me. I haven't danced since, well you
know." Her face fell as all the years flooded through her head, realizing
how much she really had missed out.
"Courtney", he reached out and took her hand in
his, "you'll walk again, your strong enough, I know you have it in
you."
"How do you know that?
We just met."
"I just, I can just tell." She smiled at him and they continued to sit
and watch each other.
"Jason, its getting late, maybe we should be heading
out." Jason paid the bill and then
wheeled Courtney out of the club. When
he arrived at her loft he walked her to the door and waited while she fumbled
with the keys. Courtney wheeled over
the threshold and then turned around.
"Thanks for everything Jason. I guess I will see you around from now on."
"Unless you want to, you know, go out again
sometime." Her features lit up at
this suggestion and she smiled.
"I would like that, well I guess you should be getting
back to your place." He leaned
down to her level and kissed her lightly on the cheek.
"Goodnight Courtney." He turned and she shut the
door behind him. turning around she let
her hand linger where he had kissed her. "Goodnight Jason" she said
out loud into the empty loft.
**although I would love to say that I wrote the song
featured in this chapter; I can't; credit goes to Jessica Simpson, I Have loved
you.**
