Chapter 3

Courtney woke up the next morning in the same state people wake up from a good dream are in.  Pure Bliss.  She was afraid to look in the mirror and see the same Courtney that she saw before her date. Was it really a date? Or just a dream that would be with her for the rest of her life?  She looked in the mirror anyways though, and was happy to see it was the Courtney that had come home from the Cellar the night before.  Her hand went back to the place where he had kissed her and she closed her eyes remembering every detail of that moment.

**flashback**

"Thanks for everything Jason.  I guess I will see you around from now on."

"Unless you want to, you know, go out again sometime."  Her features lit up at this suggestion and she smiled.

"I would like that, well I guess you should be getting back to your place."  He leaned down to her level and kissed her lightly on the cheek.

**end flashback**

She moved to the kitchen and started cooking breakfast thinking about the night before.  From the way that he came and picked her up to the way that he dropped her back off.  And when he danced with her, every butterfly she had every felt in her stomach reappeared at the thought of when he danced with her.  No one had danced with her since the accident.  She had gotten to dance at her prom, and that was the last time she had felt that way.  She hummed the song they had danced to and closed her eyes, letting herself remember every inch of his face and every expression it had showed.

**flashback**

"Courtney, would you like to dance?"

"Jason, I am in a wheel chair, how do you think I am going to dance with you?"

"I will carry you."  He stood up and walked over to her.

"WHAT??" he scooped her up and held her like a princess over to the dance floor.

Remember that blue crystal sky
The sun reflected in your eyes
Kissed me unexpectedly
A moment I just can't forget
We filled the air with promises

He walked her over to the dance floor, holding her close.

"Everyone is staring at us." She blushed deeply and then looked up at him.

"Let them look."

 **end flashback**

She continued humming and then the microwave went off, loud and interrupting, and making her realize, no one would ever love her.  Why do I get my hopes up, I am in a wheel chair, no one can love someone in a wheel chair, it's just impossible.  She took the food out of the microwave and slowly ate it, eating away at her happy evening, knowing that nothing like it would ever happen again.  She closed her eyes and let the final high of happiness leave her, he can never love me, I'm in a wheel chair.

Penthouse…

Jason woke up from a deep sleep with a smile on his face.  He sat up and let his thoughts collect, it was like it had been a dream.  If he got out of the bed it would all disappear, with a few more moments he realized it had really happened.  He and Courtney had gone out to dinner, and he had had an amazing time.  He was in a bubble, a pure happiness bubble; no one could bring him down now.  He let his mind wander while he got dressed.  The way she looked when he picked her up, the way she looked when he dropped her off.  The way that he had kissed her.  He hated that people were so cruel just because she was in a wheel chair, she didn't deserve their cruelties and she most defiantly did not deserve to be in that chair.

"WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING STUPID CRIPPLE!!" he shouted in her face and was about to walk away when he was met face to face with the most feared man in all of Port Charles

He shuttered thinking about it, how could someone treat such a beautiful person like that.  He loved the way that she was so shocked he wanted to dance with her.

**flashback**

"Courtney, would you like to dance?"

"Jason, I am in a wheel chair, how do you think I am going to dance with you?"

"I will carry you."  He stood up and walked over to her.

"WHAT??" he scooped her up and held her like a princess over to the dance floor.

**end flashback**

He wanted to call her right away, see her in five minutes and never leave her side.  Of course it was unrealistic, she had a life, he had a life they couldn't hide from the world together.  Am I falling for her, can I be falling for someone I have known for a day?  He started to make himself breakfast and continued to let the night replay in his head.

Chapter 4

Jason sat in a chair in front of the telephone and thought.  He didn't want to seem desperate, but he was desperate, he wanted to see her again.  He watched it; he hated everything about the phone at that moment.  They way that it sat still in the cradle, and the way the buttons stuck out.  He just hated it.  After a few more minutes of thought he reached out and just as he encircled his fingers around the center of it a loud brunette walked in the door.

"Jason!" she screamed when she saw him sitting near the phone and then went over to hug him.

"Hi Carly" he ran his hand down his face and then let it sit on his chin.

"How was last night?" he elbowed him in the arm and then giggled.  He smiled slightly at the way that she prodded into everyone else's business.

"It was fine." He sat back down on the chair and watched the wheels in her head turn.  He didn’t want to explain the entire night to her, he wanted her to leave so he could go back to his phone staring.

"It looked a little more than find when I saw you two on the dance floor." She composed her adolescent-like energy and looked at him seriously. " I saw the way that you were looking at her Jason, I can see it in your eyes now, you are off on your own little cloud thinking about this girl."

"Courtney, her name is Courtney." He broke from the slight trance he had been in and looked at Carly, he knew she knew what was going on, but he was not going to give her the satisfaction of telling it to her.

"Ok, well then Jason have you realized that Courtney is in a wheel chair?" she crossed her arms and tapped her foot.

"Well yes Carly I did thank you, the chair kind of gave it away." He was getting annoyed, she was keeping him from the phone.

"Look, I know that last night you said you could deal with it and that you wouldn’t hurt her.  And I know that you would never mean to hurt her.  But can you truly say that you can live that life style, now that you have cleared your head." She tapped him on the head to bring him back from another trance.

"Carly, she is going to walk again, and until then, yes I can deal with 'that life style' as you put it"  then he stood and started to slightly push her out the door.  "Now if you don’t mind, I have a phone call to make."

"Alright, alright I am leaving, just be careful Jason." She looked concerned and then winked as Jason shut the door behind her.  He turned back to the phone and picked it up.  He had already memorized her number but he dialed slowly, the butterflies in his stomach were multiplying.

Courtney's loft…

Courtney's mood had changed considerably since she had woken up.  She was sad now, and almost seemed heart broken.  She knew it wasn't Jason's fault, he hadn't done anything.  It was just the thought she had that no one would love her while she was in a wheel chair that made her…sad.  Suddenly the phone rang and she jumped, she had been in complete silence and the noise was startling.  She slowly wheeled over to the phone and picked up.

"Hello" she knew who she wanted it to be, but the chances of Jason calling were slim to none.

"Courtney, hi… umm it-its Jason" he was nervous and now angry at himself for sounding like such an idiot.  On the other line Courtney's mood had gone back to the way it had been.  Was he really calling her?

"Jason, hi, how are you?" she didn't hear what she was saying, all she heard was the steady thud of her heart and the feeling of butterflies in her stomach.

"I'm good, and you?"

"Fine, thank you.  So what's up?"

"Well I know that we just went out last night and that it is really soon to be calling you and that this may seem very forward.  But I was just wondering if maybe, you wanted to have lunch with me today, or dinner, or hell why not both!  I mean, only if you wanted to." He waited anxiously on the other line.  Courtney was in shock, could she really be hearing the man of her dreams asking her if she wanted to go out with him, again.

"I would like that very much." She smiled to herself.

"Really?  Well, I will come pick you up around noon, is that ok?" he was thrilled; she wanted to see him again. She wanted to see him again!

"That would be perfect, see you then."

"Yeah, see you then." He hung up the phone and bolted up the stairs turning on the shower.  Two hours, he had two hours.  Courtney hung up the phone and let out a little yelp of happiness.  Then she rolled to the shower and cleaned herself, coming out she did her hair and tied a robe around her waist in search of something to wear.  Jason walked out of the shower and into his room.  He glanced at the clock, 10:30, and opened a dresser pulling out something to wear and getting dressed quickly.  He sat on the bed and started to think.  Everything seemed to be turning out perfectly, now he just had to come up with the perfect place to take her.  It hit him, the perfect thing to do.

Courtney stared at her closet; it was funny how yesterday she seemed to love all of her clothes but today they all seemed so drab and boring. Nothing was perfect; the sun was already shining brightly proving that the weather man was right.  Today was going to be beautiful.  She finally decided on a pair of black capris and fitted kelly-green tee-shirt. She let her hair down and braided it, to give it a flowing look when she took it out.  She put on some black heels and then waited in the family room.  The clock over the T.V. read 11:15.

Jason paced around his penthouse until the clock read 11:20.  Then he picked up the keys from his desk and walked quickly to the elevator, which he thought took to long to get to the bottom floor.  He got in a car and drove to Kelly's where he picked up some sandwiches.  Then he drove to the liquor store, picked up some wine. And then to the food store for dessert.  When he got back in the car the clock read 11:55.  Perfect. He drove to Courtney's loft and took the stairs two at a time.  He stood at the door and smoothed out his shirt, ran his hands through his hair and then knocked twice.  After a few moments she opened the door and Jason nearly stopped breathing.  She looked truly breath taking.  He smiled at the way she bit her bottom lip when he hadn't said anything.

"Hi" he said it barely above a whisper and she looked up at him and smiled.

"Hi" they stayed there, just looking at each other for what seemed like hours.  He couldn't get over how beautiful she looked.  And at some point in time she had forgotten where she was and just saw his beautiful eyes.

"We should get going…" he broke the trance they were both in and walked behind Courtney, pushing the wheel chair towards the elevator.  She looked back at him and smiled.  Her smile, it was one of the things he liked best about her.  When she smiled nothing was wrong in the world and nothing could hurt him or her or them.
