Chapter 11
© 2003
A few days after the accident, Courtney finally went
back to work at Kelly’s. Just as she had promised,
Bobbie fixed the schedule so Courtney wouldn’t be
forced to work with Elizabeth. Jason still wasn’t
happy about her decision to go back to work, but as he
promised he didn’t push the subject anymore. Courtney
had only been at work for about an hour before Jason
walked in, taking a seat the counter, patiently
waiting for her to come over. She laughed to herself
when she saw him. Once she finished taking another
young couple’s order, she walked behind the counter
and smiled at him.
“Can I help you sir?” she asked with a mischievous
gleam in her eyes.
“Some coffee please.” he smiled up at her.
“Would you like some cream or sugar?” she continued to
flirt, knowing good and well he took his coffee black.
“I’d like some sugar but not the kind you put in your
coffee.” he suggestively wagged his eyebrows at her,
causing her to laugh.
“I think I can arrange that for you.” she leaned over
the counter and gently kissed his lips. “Mmm, you
taste yummy.”
“My new toothpaste. Do you like it?” he joked, making
Courtney laugh once more. Since they had gotten back
together everything about him seemed different. He was
actually happy. He smiled a lot and he even found
himself cracking jokes, something he never really did
before.
“So, what brings you here Mr. Morgan?”
“Do I have to have a reason to want to see you?”
“No, but I know why you’re here.”
“And why’s that?”
“To keep an eye on me to make sure I’m not overdoing
it.”
Jason smiled sheepishly, “Okay so I’m guilty. I’m
sorry Court. I know you can take care of yourself, but
now more than ever I feel the need to watch over you
and protect you.”
“Baby, there’s nothing wrong with that and believe me
when I tell you I love you even more for it. You just
can’t be with me 24 hours a day. I’m not going to let
anything happen to our baby. I hope you believe that.”
Courtney said as she walked around the corner and
stood between Jason’s legs, placing her hands on his
shoulders, pressing her forehead to his. He sighed
heavily.
“I know. I just….I’m actually happy for the first time
in my life. This is all so new to me and I’m so afraid
something is going to happen to take that away from
me.”
“We’re not going anywhere Jason. The baby and I are
right here and we always will be.” she pulled him
close, holding him tight against her chest. He hugged
her back so tight, he almost took her breath away.
Jason slowly released her, giving her a small smile.
“I don’t know what I’ve ever done to deserve you do
you know that?”
Courtney smiled tears shining in her blue eyes,
“Because you are a wonderful, kind, loving, giving
man. I’m the luckiest woman in the world.” Jason
leaned in to kiss her once more before standing up
beside her.
“On that note. I will leave and let you get back to
work. I promise not to come in and check on you all
the time…..at least I’ll try not to.”
Courtney laughed, “You can come see me anytime you
want. You know I love being with you. Just don’t come
in just to watch over me. I already have one father
and a very possessive brother. I don’t need another
one like that.”
“You got it.” Jason laughed. “Speaking of your
brother, I’m going to go talk to him today. I’m hoping
he’s had time to think about things.”
“I hope so. I would love for us to be a family.”
“I think we will be, it just might take some time.”
“Well, time I have.” she chuckled. “Good luck. I’ll
see you back at the penthouse.”
“Okay. I love you.” he kissed her once more before
turning to leave. She watched him go, her heart
swelling with overwhelming love and pride.
“I love you so much Jason Morgan.” she whispered
before attending to her customers once more.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Jason took a deep breath before turning the
knob to the door of Sonny’s penthouse. He saw Carly
sitting on the couch looking through some decorating
magazines. She looked up and smiled when she saw him.
“Hey. I’ve been looking through these magazines trying
to get some great ideas for the nursery.”
“The nursery? You just got finished decorating my
apartment, now you want to start the nursery already?”
he laughed.
“Come on Jase. You need to have it finished before the
baby comes. You don’t want Courtney to have to worry
about it when she’s seven months pregnant do you?”
“You know what, just talk to Courtney about this. I
know I’ll never win with you two anyway.”
Carly grinned, “Aw, Courtney has you trained so good
already. I’m proud.”
“I’m not trained thank you very much. I love her and I
just want to make her happy. If making her happy means
letting you and her go crazy decorating and getting
ready for the baby then that’s what I’m going to do.”
“You’re such a good man Jason, and you’re going to be
a wonderful father.” Carly placed her hand on his arm.
“I hope so Carly, but right now I’m terrified.”
“That’s normal, but you remember you’ve already had
experience with Michael. You were wonderful with him
just like you are going to be with your own child.”
Jason smiled, “Thanks Carly.” He took a deep breath,
“Is Sonny around?”
“I think he’s in the kitchen.” What they didn’t know
was Sonny was listening to everything they said from
the kitchen. He sighed heavily, knowing what he was
going to have to do. He walked into the living room,
giving Carly a quick kiss before turning to Jason.
“We need to talk.” Jason said.
“I’ll go upstairs.” Carly began to move towards the
stairs, but Sonny stopped her.
“Wait. I want you here for what I have to say.”
“Before you start….” Jason began to argue.
“Wait. I want to say something and I just want you to
listen.” Sonny looked down, rubbing his temples,
trying to think of the best way to say what he needed
to say. “Everything I’ve ever done has always been for
the best interest of my family. You know better than
anything what loyalty and honor mean to me. You’ve
been my best friend, my brother, my right arm. I don’t
know how I would make it without you to stand beside
me. I know I’ve asked so many things from you, some of
them very unfair requests. None of them were as unfair
as me asking you to give up on the one woman you’ve
ever truly loved. I look at Carly and Michael and I
know I’m so blessed to have a family to love and have
them love me back and I’ve realized that I can’t
possibly ask you to give up your chance to have that
also. It’s not fair to you, it’s not fair to Courtney,
and it’s not fair to my niece or nephew she’s
carrying. I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused you
and Courtney, but you have to believe that I truly
thought it was for the best in my heart. I just wanted
my sister to be safe and away from this life that I
lead. I was so blind. She will always be my sister,
therefore if my enemies want to hurt her to get to me,
I’ll feel better knowing you’ll be there with her to
protect her. I want us to be a family Jason. You, me,
Carly, Courtney, Michael, and my little niece or
nephew are a family. Nothing is more sacred than
that….not even honor.” Jason stood there stunned to
hear these words coming from Sonny Corinthos. Carly
looked at her husband with such pride. Tears streaked
down her cheeks by the time he was finished. Jason
didn’t say anything at first. He walked up to Sonny
and embraced him, a gesture that was more powerful
than words could ever be.
“Thank you.” he whispered before pulling away with a
smile.
“Make my sister happy. That’s all I ask.” he gave a
small smile before Carly pulled him to her in a tight
embrace.
“I’m so proud of you honey. I love you so much.”
“I love you too.” he whispered as he continued to hold
her.
“Okay…well, I guess I’ll go check on the warehouses.
I’ll see you guys later.” Jason quickly left the room
afraid Sonny just might change his mind. Once he was
gone, Carly looked back up at Sonny with a big smile.
“You are the most amazing man.”
“I just….I just wanted to do what was right.”
“You made the right choice Sonny. Jason and Courtney
love each other. I’m so happy we’re all going to be
one big family. You, me, Jason, Courtney, Michael, and
whoever else comes along.”
“Do you think Courtney’s going to have a boy or a
girl?”
“Hmm, I don’t know. I know I’d love to have a little
girl.” she smiled.
Sonny grinned down at her, “We’ll have to keep
trying.”
“I guess we’ll find out in about eight months.” her
smile grew bigger.
“Wait….are we still talking about Courtney? I thought
we were talking about us.”
“I am.” Sonny looked down at her stomach, then back up
into her big brown eyes.
“You…..you’re pregnant?”
“Looks that way.” she sighed happily.
Sonny pulled her into his embrace holding her tight,
“Oh my God. I’m so happy. I love you so much.”
“I love you too Sonny. I love you so much.”
“When did you find out?” he asked, sitting her down on
the couch beside him.
“I found out this morning actually. I realized I had
missed my period so I took a home pregnancy test…well
six of them actually. They all came out positive so
I’m pretty sure.”
“Why didn’t you tell me right away?”
“I don’t know. I guess I had to let it sink in first.
You aren’t mad are you?”
“Of course I’m not mad. You’re having my baby, I might
be getting things back on track with my sister, I have
my best friend back, everything is perfect.” Sonny
leaned in to kiss her lips. Everything was finally as
it should be.

Courtney was surprised to get home to find Jason no
where in sight. She shrugged her shoulders as she took
off her coat. As soon as she had hung it up, there was
a knock at their door. She wasn’t surprised to see
Carly on the other side.
“Hey,” she smiled. “Can I come in?”
“Sure,” she opened the door wide to let her in.
“What’s up?” she asked as they sat down on the couch.
“I just have some exciting news and I just couldn’t
wait to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Carly grinned, “I’m pregnant.”
Courtney couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “Are
you serious?”
“Yes. I just found out this morning. Isn’t it
wonderful? We’re going to be pregnant together.”
Courtney pulled her in for a warm hug, “I’m so happy
for you. I know how much you and Sonny wanted a baby.”
“When I lost our first baby, it was so hard on us. I
just pray that things will be okay with this one.”
“Of course it will. You just have to have faith.” she
smiled reassuringly. “Besides, you didn’t have someone
else pregnant to go through it with you did you?”
Carly laughed, “That’s true. I’m so happy to have a
friend to share this with. I don’t kow if I ever told
you, but before you came along I didn’t really have
any friends besides Jason.”
“Well that’s all in the past. It looks like you’re
going to be stuck with me.”
Carly looked at her, a serious expression on her
pretty face. “Thank God for you Courtney. Don’t look
at me like I’m crazy okay? I honestly don’t know where
my family would be if you hadn’t come along. You’ve
been there to support me when I was unsure of Sonny’s
love, you brought my best friend happiness he’s never
though he deserved, you’re a wonderful aunt to
Michael. You can laugh at me all you want, but what I
say is still true. I think you saved us all.”
“Carly, I think you’re giving me way too much credit.”
“It’s credit that you deserve.”
“Don’t even get me started on what you guys have done
for me.” Courtney laughed through the tears that
threatened to fall, trying to lighten the mood.
“So,” Carly sighed, wiping a few tears from her eyes.
“What do you say we go upstairs and start talking
about the nursery?”
“Sounds good to me.” Courtney agreed as they headed
upstairs to discuss decorating ideas for the nursery.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Is all the paperwork ready?” Jason asked.
“It should be ready in a few days Mr. Morgan.” a
short, stout man in his mid-forties said.
“Good. The sooner the better. Remember money is no
object.” The man smiled greedily as Jason handed him
five thousand cash. “That’s just a sample of what I’ll
give you once I get these papers.”
“Yes sir!” he exclaimed. “I’ll call you before the ink
dries.”
“Good. That’s what I wanted to hear.” Jason turned and
walked out of the man’s office with a smile on his
face.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
When Jason got home, he heard the sound of
laughter coming from upstairs. He smiled to himself,
amazed at how coming home to that sound warmed his
heart. He made his way upstairs and stood in the
doorway watching Courtney and Carly talk excitedly
about the nursery. They were both startled to see
Jason leaning against the doorframe, a smile on his
face.
“Hey,” Courtney grinned, giving him a big hug and
kiss. “I was surprised to come home to an empty
apartment.”
“I just had some business to attend to.” he simply
stated. “So, have you come up with ideas for the
nursery?”
Courtney’s eyes lit up with excitement, “We have so
many ideas. Since we don’t know if the baby will be a
boy or a girl we were thinking of painting the room a
very pale green or a pale yellow. What do you think?”
“Courtney, decorating really isn’t my thing.” Jason
shifted nervously.
“Come on Jason. This is your baby too. I want to know
what you think.”
He sighed heavily, “Okay ummm, what about painting the
room green with yellow trim. The best of both.”
Courtney smiled, “See! I love that idea.” She kissed
his lips turning to Carly, “I told you!”
“Yeah I suppose you did.” Carly laughed. “When is your
next day off Court?”
“Umm, I believe I have off in a couple days. Why?”
“We should go shopping. We can look at color samples
to see which colors we’re going to use. Once we decide
on that then we can start looking for themes that
match those colors.”
Courtney turned to Jason with a smile, “Can I buy
whatever I want?”
“Do I have to go with you?”
“No.”
“Then you can buy whatever your little heart desires.”
Jason kissed her forehead before heading back
downstairs.
“You’re really funny Jason.” she called after him. She
chuckled, “Have you told Jason about the baby?”
“No I haven’t. Let’s go downstairs, I think he has
something he wants to tell you too.” she winked as
they too headed downstairs. They found Jason in the
kitchen grabbing a drink.
“Carly has something she wants to tell you.”
“Really? Good news I hope. Sonny hasn’t changed his
mind has he?” Jason asked, unsure of what exactly
Carly had to say to him. Suddenly there was a knock on
the door. “Hold that thought.” he said as he walked to
the door.
“What was that about Sonny?” Courtney asked Carly
while Jason answered the door. Before she could
answer, Sonny came walking into the penthouse a huge
smile on his face.
“There’s my beautiful wife. I was wondering where you
were.”
“I was just telling Courtney our happy news, then we
got caught up in plans for the nursery.” Carly smiled,
stepping into his embrace.
“Did you tell Jason?”
“I was just about to.” Carly turned back to Jason who
looked at them confused. “We’re going to have a baby.”
Jason was shocked to silence. He just couldn’t believe
that both Courtney and Carly would be pregnant at the
same time. Hell, he never expected he’d become a
father at all. Everything was so crazy. “Well? Don’t
you have anything to say?”
A smile spread across his face as he embraced her,
“I’m happy for you guys. I know how much you wanted to
have another baby.” Jason turned to Sonny and gave him
a quick hug.
Sonny’s smile hadn’t disappeared since he walked
through the door, “I can’t begin to tell you how happy
I am.”
Courtney pulled Sonny to her, hugging him tight. “I’m
happy for you Sonny.”
He held onto her a little longer than he had to,
“Thank you. I’m sorry for everything.”
Courtney pulled away slightly to look at Sonny, “Did I
miss something?”
“You mean Jason hasn’t told you?” Carly asked.
“Told me what?! Will someone please tell me what’s
going on here? I know I’m missing something.”
“Well,” Jason began. “I told you that I was going to
talk to Sonny after I left Kelly’s. I went over to the
penthouse, but Sonny pretty much did all the talking.
He told me that he was sorry for all the pain he had
caused us and that he wants us to be a family
together. He doesn’t want to fight us anymore.” Jason
smiled as he was Courtney’s face light up with
happiness. She jumped into his arms hugging him
tightly, placing quick kisses all over his face.
Without warning, she released Jason and launched
herself into Sonny’s embrace again.
“Thank you Sonny. I can’t tell you how much this means
to me.” she whispered in his ear.
“I just want you to be happy, and I want to be able to
be a part of your life and the life of my niece or
nephew.”
“You’re definitely going to get your wish. You’re not
only going to be getting a niece or a nephew, you’re
going to be a daddy.”
Courtney and Carly sat down on the couch and began
talking about pregnancy in general as Sonny and Jason
looked on amused. “Can you believe this? We’re both
going to be father’s at the same time.” Jason
chuckled.
“Carly and Courtney pregnant together…” Sonny’s voice
trailed off.
“Heaven help us.” they said in unison. They looked at
each other and burst out laughing. Carly and Courtney
looked up at them suspiciously.
“What’s so funny?” Carly asked.
“Nothing.” Sonny smiled. “Tell me about your plans for
the nursery.”
“Well, this is what we’ve come up with so far….” Carly
began. They all decided to meet for dinner at Sonny
and Carly’s penthouse, excited about spending their
first evening together as a happy family.

Courtney’s first week with Jason was wonderful. He was
loving, supportive, attentive to her needs but not
overbearing. He added his input on Carly’s plans for
the nursery. Even though he claimed to know nothing
about decorating, he actually had some really good
suggestions. Sonny had kept his promise. Ever since he
gave them his blessing, he was a happier man and he
turned out to be a very warm and caring brother much
to Courtney’s delight. Everything was going great.
There was only one thing that bothered her. Jason
hadn’t tried to make love to her at all since she’d
become pregnant. She tried not to worry about it, but
part of her couldn’t help but worry. Was knowing she’s
carrying a child inside her a turn off for him? Did he
no longer desire here the way he used to? She wanted
so badly to talk to him about it but she was afraid of
sounding insecure. One day, Courtney and Carly just
got back to the penthouse after a day out shopping for
their nurseries. Earlier that day, Carly couldn’t
hellp but notice how preoccupied she was. She held off
from saying anything, but finally after repeating
herself for the twentieth time she had had enough.
“Okay Court, spill it.”
“What?”
“You’ve been distracted all day. Is everything okay?”
Courtney sighed, “Things have been great lately. I
have Jason and we’re having a baby. I’m getting closer
to you and Sonny and Michael…” her voice trailed off.
“But?”
“It’s just…I mean I know I probably sound really silly
but Jason hasn’t…well he hasn’t…” she continued to
sputter.
Carly chuckled, “Spit it out girl.”
“Jason hasn’t even attempted to make love to me.” she
finally managed to say.
“Oh,” Carly frowned. “I can see your dilemma. Hmmm,
have you tried talking to him?”
“No, I just don’t want to sound like an insecure
idiot.”
“Have YOU tried initiating it?”
Courtney blushed, “No.”
“Here’s what you do. Since you don’t want to talk to
him, seduce him instead. Make a romantic dinner, dress
up in a sexy dress, wear your hair the way you know he
likes it, wear his favorite perfume, the works. If
that doesn’t work, then I’m afraid your only other
option is to talk to him.” Carly paused as she watched
Courtney’s eyes cloud with worry. “Is there something
else?”
“What if he’s not turned on by me anymore?”
“Courtney I know that’s not true. Jason loves you so
much. He might think he CAN’T make love to you because
of the baby. He’s never been in this situation before.
Try to think positive. I’m sure everything will be
fine.”
Courtney smiled, “Thanks Carly. I’m glad I have you
here with me.”
“I’ll always be here for you. Remember that.”
“I will.”
Once Carly was gone, Courtney ran out again to
pick up something before returning to the penthouse to
start setting up for Jason’s seduction.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Everything’s set?” Jason asked as he scanned the
papers in his hands.
“Yes sir Mr. Morgan. Everything you asked for.”
“Good. Once I return these to you, how long before you
can finalize them?”
“Two days…three tops.”
“Excellent.” Jason handed him $10,000 cash. “I added a
little bit extra since you got it done so quickly.”
The man grinned, “Oh thank you! Let me know if there’s
anything else I can do for you.”
“I’ll be in touch,” he called out over his shoulder as
he left his office. He knew exactly where to go to
find him. As soon as he walked inside Jake’s he
spotted him alone at a table in the corner, an open
bottle of whiskey and a glass in hand. Jason walked
over and sat down across from him. AJ glared at him
from over the top of his glass.
“To what do I owe this visit?” he slurred.
“I have some papers for you to sign.”
He snickered, “Divorce papers I bet. Well I’m not
signing ‘em. I love her and I know she’s going to come
back to me.”
“You need to face facts. After everything you did to
her do you honestly think she’ll come back to you?
Come on AJ. You betrayed Courtney and now you’ve lost
her. You only have yourself to blame.
“No,” he yelled. “If you would have stayed away from
her this never would have happened! I would have been
the hero and she would still love me!”
“You can hate and blame me all you want, but the fact
remains Courtney wants a divorce.”
AJ suddenly began to cry, “I love her.”
“If you love her you’ll set her free. Do you want her
to keep hating you? She will unless you step up and be
a man. Sign the papers and show her there is a small
shred of decency left inside you.”
“If I sign those papers I lose her for good.” he
babbled.
“How many different ways do I have to say this to
you?” Jason began to lose his temper. “You already
lost her.”
“If you want something to come back to you set it
free…” AJ muttered. Jason looked at him with a frown.
“What?” AJ didn’t respond he sat there silently for a
moment. He reached a shaky hand across the table and
took the papers. The alcohol blurred his vision, but
he could see where he needed to sign. His hand hovered
above the line, pen in hand. Finally he quickly signed
his name and shoved the papers back towards Jason.
“You make sure you tell Courtney this is how much I
love her. I love her enough to set her free.” Jason
didn’t reply. He quickly stood and left AJ alone with
his sorrow.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The room was lit by dozens of candles.
Courtney made a delicious dinner before taking a quick
shower to get ready for Jason’s return. She wore the
pink dress she wore that night at Carly’s club, her
air was down to frame her beautiful face. Courtney
placed his favorite scent on her writs, behind her
ears, between her breasts, everywhere she wanted his
lips to kiss. Everything was perfect. Jason walked
through the door and was surprised to be met by soft
candlelight. As his eyes scanned the room, they fall
on her. His breath caught in his throat, paralyzed by
her beauty. Courtney smiled seductively, “Welcome
home.” She ran her fingers down the column of her neck
and over the tops of her breasts. “Are you hungry?” He
simply nodded to her, still unable to speak. “Good,
cause I cooked lots of food.” Jason smelled the
delicious aroma as soon as he walked in, but the sight
of Courtney simply made him forget about everything
else but her. She sauntered over to the stereo and hit
play before turning back to him. He frowned as he
listened to the song that began to play.
“Isn’t this one of those boy bands? I can’t believe
you like them.”
Courtney laughed, “Listen to the words of the song
Jason. That’s why I played it. Stop fussing and dance
with me.” Jason pulled her into his arms, holding her
tight as he listened to the words of the song that was
playing.
When the visions around you
Bring tears to your eyes
When all that surrounds you
Are secrets and lies
I’ll be your strength
I’ll be your hope
Keeping your faith when it’s gone
The one you should call
Was standing here all along
And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you
This I promise you
I’ve loved you forever
And lifetimes before
And I promise you never
Will you hurt anymore
I give you my word
I give you my heart
This is a battle we’ve won
And with this vow
Forever has now begun
And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you
This I promise you
Over and over I fall
Till the day you call
Without you in my life baby
I just wouldn’t be living at all
And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you baby
Just close your eyes
Each loving day
And know these feelings won’t go away
Every word I say is true
This I promise you
Every word I say is true
This I promise you
As he listened he realized Courtney had been
right. The lyrics to the song fit them perfectly. He
pulled away slightly and smiled down at her.
“Okay you’re right. The words of the song really are
amazing.”
“See. I just might turn you into an NSYNC fan yet.”
“Don’t hold your breath. I don’t want to hear any of
that ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’ @#%$, but I can handle this song.
Just this one.”
“Fine, be that way,” she laughed. When the song ended,
one of her Brian McKnight CD’s began to play, but
Courtney didn’t bother to turn it off. She stared up
at him for a moment. “Do you know how much I love
you?”
“I think I do, even if you only loved me half as much
as I love you I’d be the luckiest man in the world.”
“I love you with everything that I have. I never
thought I could ever love someone as much as I love
you and our child.” she placed a hand on her flat
stomach. “ I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“You’ll always have me.”
“Do you promise?”
“I promise no matter what happens in out lives that I
will always be with you and our children.”
Courtney grinned, “Did you say children? The plural of
child, meaning more than one?” Jason smiled sheepishly
at her playful joking.
“I want us to be a family. If we only have one child
I’ll be okay with that as long as we’re together, but
if more than one comes along…” he paused to smile
again, “I’d be a very happy man.”
“I love you Jason Morgan.”
“I love you too Courtney Matthews.”
“Wait right here. I have something for you,” she
hurried over to the desk and pulled something from the
drawer. She held it behind her back as she approached
him, a nervous smile on her face. Courtney pulled out
a small, flat black box with a card attached to it. “I
want you to read the card first.”
“Courtney, you really don’t have to buy me things.
Being with you is enough.”
She smiled at his sweet words, “That’s sweet, but
you’re still getting the present.” Jason laughed
softly as he opened the card to read what she wrote.
Jason~
I don’t know if mere words can express what
you mean to me. I’ve never felt this way for anyone in
my life and I feel truly blessed. Not only are we
together again, but in a few months we’ll be adding
another member to our family. Thank you for everything
you’ve given me. You and our child are my life,
without you I’d be lost forever. I love you from the
bottom of my heart. Jason Morgan, will you marry me?
Love,
Courtney
She waited anxiously for his answer,
butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Jason kept
reading her words over and over again, still amazed at
how lucky he was to have been given a second chance
with the woman he loved so very much. He never
considered marriage as an option for him, even with
Robin, but now as he looked into Courtney’s blue eyes
he knew there was nothing he wanted more than to make
her his wife. Jason stepped forward, caressing her
face softly before pulling her to him an powerful yet
soft kiss. It literally took her breath away and made
her knees weak. He slowly pulled away, leaning his
forehead against hers. “Yes,” he whispered softly.
“Really?” she asked, tears glistening in her eyes.
He smiled, “Yes really. I love you Courtney. I want us
to be a family in every way and I can’t wait until I
can call you my wife.”
She laughed as Jason gently brushed her tears away, “I
love you too.” She took a deep breath, “Now, open your
present.” He obediently opened the black box. Inside
was a gold money clip with an ‘M’ monogram on the
front. “I wasn’t sure what to get you. I mean you
don’t wear jewelry so I decided this would be
something you could use.”
“It’s beautiful. Thank you.” he picked it up to look
at it.
“Read the back.” He turned it over. Engraved on the
back was ‘The best is yet to come. Always, Courtney’
He smiled and kissed her once more. Jason started to
pull away, but Courtney held him tight. Their kiss
deepened and they let themselves get lost in the
moment together. Courtney broke their kiss, “Let’s go
upstairs.” He scooped her up into his arms and carried
her up the stairs to their bedroom. As soon as her fet
were on the ground, she pushed his coat off his
shoulders before pulling the black shirt off his
gorgeous body. She ran her nails down the muscles of
his back and back up his firm chest. Jason’s hands
were roaming from her bare back, down to her firm ass,
eliciting soft moans from her lips. As much as Jason
loved the way she looked in her pink dress, he quickly
pulled it from her body, needing to feel her skin
against his once more. All she wore underneath was a
thin white lace thong. With one firm tug, he tore them
from her body causing her to giggle. He gently pushed
her down onto the bed letting his eyes drink in the
sight of her as he quickly removed his jeans and boxer
briefs. Jason climbed over her, kissing her lips once
more as his hands gently kneaded her tender breasts.
Courtney moaned against his lips when his hands found
their way to her sensitive center. Her small hands
wrapped around his straining member, gently stroking
him to the point where he just couldn’t take it
anymore. He had to be inside her. He positioned
himself between her legs and slowly entered her. Once
she adjusted to his size, she wrapped her legs around
his waist as he began to work his hips. Faster and
faster he moved, still amazed at how perfectly their
bodies fit together. Never in all his years had ever
experienced anything as close to what he experienced
every time he was with her. It was as if their bodies
were made for each other. Courtney met him with each
thrust, needing desperately to find the release her
body craved. She felt it approaching as she began to
tremble around him, and Jason knew it too. He started
moving even faster until she finally reached her peak.
As soon as her walls began to tighten around him, he
too found his release, spilling himself deep inside
her. They remained tangled together on the bed for a
long time before Jason finally rolled onto his side,
pulling her into his arms. Courtney smiled tiredly,
“Wow. That was so amazing. I’ve missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
Courtney leaned up on her elbow so she could look him
in the eye, “Jason I want to ask you something but I
don’t want you to get upset with me.”
“What is it?”
“Well, I was just wondering why you haven’t tried to
make love to me before tonight. Are you not sexually
attracted to me anymore?”
Jason laughed, “You’re seriously asking me this
question after what just happened? If I wasn’t
attracted to you, then we wouldn’t have made love just
now.”
“It’s just…I don’t know. I guess I was just paranoid.
I thought maybe because I was pregnant it was somehow
a turn off for you.”
He gently raised her chin for her to look him in the
eyes, “I love you Courtney. No one can get to me the
way you do. I didn’t not make love to you for the
reasons you think. I was just…I guess you could say
ignorant. I thought maybe we couldn’t make love
because of the baby.”
“Why did you talk to me about it?”
“I just didn’t know how to bring it up.”
“Well, now you know. Making love is in no way harmful
to our child. As a matter of fact,” a sly grin spread
across her face, “Doing it more often would be great
exercise. You know I need to stay in shape for the
baby’s sake.”
Jason laughed, “Oh really? Well, I’ll just have to
keep that in mind then won’t I.”
“You better or I just might have to throw you down on
the floor and have my way with you. You never know
with these hormones that are raging inside me.”
“I don’t think I’d object to that.”
“I bet you wouldn’t.” she laughed as she leaned in to
kiss him again.
“I still can’t believe you proposed to me.”
“Well, I figured if I waited for you to do it I might
never get you to the altar.”
“Ha, ha. You have no clue what’s been going through my
mind lately. For all you know I was going to propose
to you soon.”
“I don’t want to wait long before we get married. I
want to marry you before the baby comes, but AJ is a
serious problem. If I could only get him to sign those
damn divorce papers.” she sighed. It wasn’t till then
that Jason remembered. He quickly got out of bed and
searched the floor for his jacket. “What is it?”
“I have something for you too.” he finally found his
coat and pulled out the envelope that was in the
inside pocket. He climbed back in bed beside her and
handed her the envelope with a smile.
“What is this Jason?”
“You’re turn to just open it and read it.” Courtney
looked at him skeptically, but opened the envelope as
he instructed. She couldn’t believe her eyes. It was
her divorce papers with AJ’s signature at the bottom.
Her mouth fell open in shock.
“Oh my God! He…he really signed them? But how Jason?”
“I had a lawyer draw them up and I found him and had a
nice little talk with him.”
“Jason, please tell me you didn’t like hold a gun to
his head or something. I don’t want you to get in
trouble because of me.”
“No, no, nothing like that. I really just talked to
him. I think him being a little drunk might have
helped, but he signed them. All you have to do is sign
your name and the lawyer will file them for us. You’ll
be a free woman next week.” Courtney squealed in
delight and threw her arms around Jason’s neck kissing
him all over his face.
“I love you, I love you, I love you….” she chanted
with each kiss. “Oh Jason. This means we can finally
be happy together. Nothing else is going to stand in
our way.”
“I promise to do everything in my power to make you
happy Courtney.”
“You do make me happy. Happier than I ever thought
possible,” she leaned in to kiss him again. Their kiss
started out innocent, but the passion between them
began to spark once more as they slowly made love
again.

Chapter 14

The next morning instead of finding Courtney
beside him, Jason was met by a cold sheet. He slowly
sat up, noticing she’d left him a note on her pillow.
Good morning my love,
I’m sorry I couldn’t be there when you woke this
morning, but I have the early shift at Kelly’s. You
were sleeping so peaceful I didn’t want to wake you. I
know I’ve told you this a million times already but I
love you so much Jason. No one on this earth can or
ever will take your place in my heart. We’re meant to
be, and I think after everything we’ve been through we
deserve to be this blissfully happy. That’s how happy
you make me. The divorce papers are signed and are
ready for you to take to the lawyers. The quicker I’m
finally completely rid of that huge mistake the sooner
we can make our own plans to make our union official.
Till I see you again, my thoughts are always with you.
All my love,
Courtney ‘Morgan’
Jason smiled as he read her letter over and
over again. He didn’t know what he did to ever deserve
the love of someone like Courtney, but he would do
everything in his power to make sure he never lost it.

Courtney couldn’t stop smiling all morning.
Everything was finally working out the way she had
wanted it to and she couldn’t be happier about it.
Carly came into Kelly’s around nine that morning,
noticing how happy Courtney seemed.
“Good morning Carly,” she smiled as she poured her
some hot water for her herbal tea.
“Good morning,” she smiled back. “I take it from the
look on your face that took my advice last night.”
“I did. Thank you so much for your help. You were
right, Jason just hadn’t been sure if we were able to
make love. That’s why he hadn’t made a move.”
“See, I can be pretty perceptive sometimes.”
“Oh and two other really important things happened.
Jason got AJ to sign the divorce papers.”
Carly’s eyes widened in shock, “Oh my God! Are you
serious?”
“Yeah, and he did it without force. Can you believe
it?” Courtney laughed.
“I’m so happy for you Court. You’re finally rid of
that jerk.”
“Me too. The other thing is…” she paused for a moment,
a huge grin spreading across her face. “Jason and I
are engaged.” Carly squealed in delight, hugging her
from across the counter.
“I’m so happy for you. I can’t believe Jason actually
proposed. You have to tell me all about it. Did he get
down on one knee?”
Courtney began to blush slightly, “Actually he didn’t.
I proposed to him.”
Carly stared at her in shock, “Are you serious?”
Courtney simply nodded. “Just think of the story
you’ll tell your kids and grandchildren one day. The
day mommy proposed to daddy.” They laughed together at
the thought, “So how did you do it?”
“Well, I had the apartment set up really nice with
candles and soft music, the smell of good food. I
asked him to dance with me, and after the dance I
handed him a letter I had written him.” she paused to
laugh. “It only took me ten tries to get that letter
right. Anyways, he read it and he said yes. And here
we are.”
“I have another question though. What do you give a
man when you propose? I mean guys give us diamonds,
but Jason is NOT the jewelry type.”
Courtney rolled her eyes, “Tell me about it. I had the
hardest time finding something, but I ended up getting
him a money clip. I figured it was something he could
use.”
Carly smiled, “That’s my girl. Always thinking.”
“Can I ask a favor of you?”
“Of course you can.”
“When Jason and I get married will you be my maid of
honor?”
Tears glistened in Carly’s eyes. She’d never had a
relationship like she had with Courtney. Courtney was
not just a friend to her, she considered her to be her
best friend and sister. It was a relationship she had
become to cherish very much. “I’d be honored.”
Courtney smiled, relieved.
“Thank you Carly. I owe you so much already. I don’t
know how I’ll ever be able to repay you.”
“You don’t owe me anything Courtney. You’ve made Jason
so happy and Sonny’s so happy to find you and we’re
all a happy family. That’s all I ever really wanted
and now I finally have it. So if you want to look at
it that way, I feel like I owe you.”
“We’ll call it even then okay. Jason and I haven’t
talked about dates or anything, but I know I want to
get married as soon as possible. I want to be married
before the baby is born and before I get to fat.” she
laughed.
“What kind of wedding do you want?”
“Nothing big and fancy, but not a justice of the piece
type either. I know I want you, Michael, Sonny, Mike,
Penny, and Bobby to be there.”
“What, no Elizabeth?” Carly asked sarcastically.
Courtney rolled her eyes, “Ruin my good mood why don’t
you. Just the mention of her name, UGH!”
“I’m sorry. I meant it as a joke.”
“I know you did. I just really never understood why
she completely turned against me. She claimed I stole
Jason from her, but she’s the one who dumped him. It’s
just ridiculous.”
“Don’t waste anymore of your time thinking about that
skinny little twit. Just think about your fiance and
that baby you’re carrying.” That brought a smile back
to her face.
“Yeah, it’s pretty amazing isn’t it. I mean I know
you’ve been through this once already, but I’m still
trying to take everything in.”
“Enjoy it while you can. Soon you’ll experience the
bloating, the backaches, swollen feet, the strange
cravings, the hot flashes, everything.” she laughed.
“Come on Carly. Don’t make me dread this pregnancy.”
“I don’t mean to bring down your spirits. Being
pregnant is a wonderful experience and having a child
brings so much joy in your life.”
Courtney smiled, “Thanks Carly.”
“You’re welcome. I’m sorry but I have to go meet
Leticia and Michael at the park. Call me later okay.”
“I will. See you later.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Jason was just leaving the lawyers office when his
cell phone rang, “Morgan.”
“So….I hear congratulations are in order.”
Jason smiled, “Hello Carly.”
“I just left Courtney at Kelly’s. She’s so happy, it’s
like she’s floating on cloud nine.”
“You can believe I’m just as happy.”
“I know you are. I can’t believe you actually got AJ
to sign the divorce papers.”
“It surprised me too. I just made him see that he was
never going to get Courtney back, and the only way to
prove to her that there was one ounce of decency left
he should set her free.”
“I really didn’t believe there was, but I guess there
is a small part of him that is still human after all.
The rest is still slime though.”
“True, but if I’m being honest I’m grateful to AJ.”
“What for?”
“If it wasn’t for him, Sonny wouldn’t have sent me to
watch over Courtney and I might not be where I am
today. I might still be alone.”
“I don’t believe that for a minute. You and Courtney
are meant to be and you two would have found your way
to each other sooner or later despite AJ’s stupidity.”
Jason laughed, “You know what’s funny. That’s what I
told Courtney when she was in the hospital, yet here
you are telling me the exact same thing.”
“You have to believe it Jason.”
“I do, it’s just hard for me to believe that I’ve ever
done anything to deserve this much happiness Carly.
I’m not exactly a good and kind person. It’s been said
many times before that I was cold and unfeeling with
no emotions. What if this is all a dream?”
“None of that is true Jason and you know it. When it
comes to your job you are strong because you have to
be, but deep down you are a good and kind person. The
things you’ve done for me and my family, the things
you’ve done for Courtney and how happy you’ve made
her. That’s your proof right there.”
Jason sighed, “Thank you Carly. I guess I just needed
to hear that.”
“You’re welcome Jase. You know I’m always here for
you.”
“I know.”
“So, when are you and Courtney going to get married?”
“We haven’t discussed it yet. I know I’d like to do it
before the baby is born.”
“So does she. You guys talk about it and when you
decide on a date Courtney and I can plan everything.
It’ll be a blast.”
“How do you think Sonny is going to react?”
“He’s going to be happy for you both. Do you want to
tell him the news?”
“Yeah, I think Courtney would want him to hear it from
us.”
“Then I won’t say a word. Michael is calling me so I
have to go. Talk to you later okay?”
“Alright. Bye Carly.”
“Bye.” Jason hung up with Carly and headed off to run
one more errand before he headed to Kelly’s to meet
Courtney. When he got to Kelly’s Courtney was just
finishing her shift. She looked up when the door
opened and a beautiful smile grace her face the moment
she saw him. She got up from the counter and walked up
to him, throwing her arms around his neck, giving him
a big kiss.
“I missed you.” she whispered against his lips.
“I missed you too.” he smiled down to her. “Are you
ready to go?”
“Yep, just let me say goodbye to Penny and grab my
coat.” She turned to head back to the counter. Jason
nervously felt inside his jacket pocket to make sure
his surprise for her was still there. Courtney was
soon back by his side. “Ready?”
“Absolutely.” They left Kelly’s and headed off towards
the docks. They stood together, their arms wrapped
around each other looking out over the water.
“What are you thinking about?” she asked.
“I’m thinking about how lucky I am and how much I love
you and our baby.” She turned around to face him.
“Really?”
“I know you asked me to marry you and there’s nothing
in the world I want more than that. I’m honored that
you asked me first, but I wanted to do this the right
way.” Jason slowly bent down on one knee and looked
back up at her. Her eyes was brimming with tears, but
the smile never faded from her face. “I’ve never loved
anyone in my life the way I love you. You’ve become
the reason I get up every morning, you’re the reason I
look forward to my future. Up until you came along, I
never thought past the day I was living, but now all I
want is to grow old and gray with you and watch our
children and grandchildren grow up. Together we can
get through anything. I love you so much Courtney
Matthews. Will you be my wife?” Jason pulled out a
small black box. When he opened it, Courtney gasped.
It was the most beautiful ring she’d ever seen. The
ring was white gold with a tear shaped diamond with
two smaller diamonds on the side.
“Yes.” she whispered through her tears, her hand
shaking as Jason slid the ring onto her finger. He
placed a soft kiss upon it before standing up to pull
her to him once more. “I love you Jason.”
“I love you too.” While they basked in their beautiful
moment, they were unaware of someone watching them
from around the corner. Elizabeth stood there with
tears streaming down her cheeks, yet she was unable to
move from her spot. Jason, the man she had been sure
was the one for her, was down on one knee asking
another girl to marry him. How could her life have
possibly gotten so screwed up? Suddenly her tears
stopped and anger replaced her sadness. This was all
Courtney’s fault. She had to come along and play the
damsel in distress, making Jason run to her rescue and
completely forget about her in the process. She vowed
right then and there she would make her pay for taking
away everything she’d ever wanted.
