CHAPTER SIXTEEN
The following morning, Courtney and Carly began
shopping for their dresses. They quickly found
Carly’s. It was a soft yellow halter style chiffon
dress with a mini train. The dress fit her beautifully
and looked almost whimsical. That feature was what
made them fall in love with it. Now that Carly’s dress
was taken care of, they focused solely on Courtney’s
dress. She felt as though she tried on thousands, but
none of them felt right. They had spent hours looking
and just when they were about to give up Courtney saw
it. She walked towards it as if she were being pulled
by some mystical, magical force. She loving fingered
the intricate beading on the bodice, smiling as the
felt the soft satin. Courtney drew in a deep breath.
“Carly…..oh Carly, I think this is it.”
“Quick, go try it on.” Carly picked it up off the rack
and hurried Courtney to the first open dressing room.
When Courtney emerged, Carly gasped in shock. “Oh
Court…..you look so beautiful.” she had tears in her
eyes as she watched her best friend walk towards the 4
way mirrors. The dress was a strapless, white satin.
The bodice was adorned with crystals and beads, the
A-line design of the gown accentuating her gorgeous
figure perfectly. The train was also adorned with the
same design of beads and crystals as the bodice. She
looked just like a princess, exactly the way she
dreamed she’d look on her wedding day when she was a
little girl in Atlantic City. “Jason is going to die
when he sees you.”
Courtney laughed, “I certainly hope not.”
“You know that’s not what I mean.” she laughed.
“I can’t believe this is really happening Carly. I
feel like this is all a dream and soon I’m going to
wake up all alone again.”
“Honey, you have to push those thoughts out of your
mind. You and Jason are going to be married in less
than a month, you’re having a baby, everything is
going to be great.” she smiled softly, putting a
comforting arm around her.
“You’re right.” she drew another deep breath as she
looked at herself in the mirror once more. “This is
the one. This is the dress I’ll be wearing when I
become Mrs. Jason Morgan.” Her smile grew as she
spoke. She was so happy she felt as though her heart
might burst.
“Perfect! Now, let’s get you changed so we can go get
some lunch. I’m STARVING!” Courtney laughed, quickly
heading to the dressing room to change back into her
other clothes. Half and hour later, they were at
Kelly’s ordering lunch. Unfortunately, Elizabeth was
the one on duty that day.
“Well, well, well, look who’s here.” she sneered.
“What do you want?” she held her order pad and pen,
ready to write their order.
“Well, after a long morning of wedding dress shopping
we’re starving. What do you want Court?” Carly said,
pretending not to notice the hate radiating off of
Elizabeth.
“Hmmm, I’m not sure. Why don’t you give us a couple
minutes to decide?”
“Whatever.” she mumbled, walking away from them. Carly
and Courtney laughed at her retreating form.
“You’re so bad Carly.”
“Hey, she deserves it. The little twit never passes up
a chance to dig her claws into you, so why should I
miss a chance to dig the knife in deeper?”
“Yeah, I just hope you don’t drive her crazy and she
doesn’t come after me with a knife for real.”
Carly frowned, “Court, is there something Jason and
Sonny should know. Has Lizbitch threatened you in any
way?” Courtney sighed heavily.
“It’s not a big deal. You know she’s just all talk.
She loves to run her mouth.”
“Courtney, if she’s said something you need to tell
Jason. Elizabeth is crazy. I wouldn’t put anything
past her.”
“Okay Carly. I promise I’ll talk to Jason about what
she said.”
“Good.” she looked back down at the menu. “Now, what
to eat, what to eat. I swear with this kid inside me I
think I could eat just about everything on the menu.”
Courtney laughed, “Tell me about it.” Elizabeth
wandered back over to their table.
“Decided yet?”
“Yeah, I’ll have a cheeseburger and fries with a
chocolate milk shake.” Carly grinned. Courtney’s eyes
grew big, surprised that her sister-in-law would order
such a meal. A grin spread across her face.
“I’ll have the same.”
“Fat, fat, fat. Better on your butt than mine.” she
mumbled as she headed to the kitchen to place their
order.
“Hell, she needs some fat on her skinny ass.” Carly
seethed. “Besides, the baby is starving.”
“Let’s make a pact not to tell Jason and Sonny what we
are eating for lunch. I don’t think either of them
would be too happy about it.”
Carly grinned, “Agreed. I’m so glad you’re pregnant
too. Now we can be partners in crime. We might have to
smuggle contraband to each other from time to time.”
“We’ll sneak out a few times a week to grab a
cheeseburger together. We’ll use the excuse of baby
shopping or something like that.”
“All I have to do is mention shopping and Sonny
completely shuts off his hearing I think.” she
laughed. “I don’t think that would be a problem”
They managed to finish their lunch in peace without
anymore trouble from Elizabeth. Courtney ahd not been
able to get Elizabeth’s comments the day before out of
her mind. Maybe she was just being paranoid. She
honestly didn’t think Elizabeth would go so far as to
actually hurt her, but she knew Carly was right. She
had to tell Jason what Elizabeth said. When she got
home late that afternoon, Jason still hadn’t made it
home yet. Courtney decided to use her time alone to do
a little reading. When Jason finally got home a few
hours later, he found Courtney asleep on the couch, a
copy of What To Expect When You’re Expecting lying
open on her chest. Jason smiled softly, the sight of
her warming his heart. He walked over to the couch,
gently removed the book from her hands, and covered
her with an afghan that had been lying nearby. She
stirred slightly.
“No, no more stores Carly…” she mumbled before she
settled into peaceful sleep once more. Jason fought to
control his laughter, not wanting to wake her. He
decided to go in the back to play a little pool,
letting her sleep a while longer. About an hour later
she woke. She realized she was covered with the
afghan, so she knew Jason had to be home. She lazily
stretched her arms before beginning her search for
Jason. Courtney followed the faint sound of pool balls
clanging together. She leaned against the door frame,
watching him set up for his final shot. He reached
back, then let his cue stick slam against the cue
ball, hitting the eight ball perfectly, sending it to
the left corner pocket. He turned to the doorway
suddenly when he heard someone whistle. “Nice shot
baby.” she grinned. He returned her smile, setting his
stick down on the table before pulling her into his
arms.
“Why thank you.” his lips brushed against hers softly.
“How was your nap?”
“It was nice.” her hands rubbed up and down his chest,
smiling as she felt his muscles tremble under her
slightest touch.
“Did you know you talk in your sleep?” her eyes
suddenly met his in surprise.
“I do not.”
Jason laughed, “You most certainly do. When I came in
tonight you were mumbling ‘No more stores Carly’.” he
chuckled again. “It was so cute.” Courtney buried her
face in his shirt. “Oh, don’t be embarrassed. Has
Carly been running you ragged?”
Courtney sighed heavily, “You know how she loves to
shop. Ugh! I can’t believe I talked in my sleep.” She
sighed again, deciding to change the subject. “We got
our dresses today?”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Carly’s is a really beautiful pale yellow
chiffon….” she began to explain, but she could
immediately see Jason’s face go blank. She was losing
him. “Okay, no more details. I know you really don’t
care.”
Jason sighed, “I’m sorry. I know the details are
important to you.”
Courtney shrugged, “It’s okay. I’ll only burden you
with the details that concern you.”
“It’s my wedding too, every detail concerns me.”
“Come on Jase. I know you aren’t interested in all
this wedding stuff.”
“I know it’s important to you, so that makes it
important to me.”
Courtney smiled up at him, “Have I told you lately how
much I love you?”
Jason grinned, “Not recently.”
“I love you so much Jason Morgan. I can’t wait until I
am your wife.”
“I love you too. You are my wife in my heart Courtney.
The ceremony is a necessary symbol to make it legal,
but my heart already calls you my wife.” She raised
up, kissing him with all the love she felt inside.
When she pulled away, she had tears streaming down her
cheeks. “Why are you crying?”
“I’m just so happy. I don’t….I just don’t want
anything or anyone to ever take you away from me.”
Jason looked down at her confused.
“What makes you say that? Is there something you need
to tell me? Has someone threatened you?”
Courtney sighed heavily, walking away from him,
leaning her hip against the pool table. She didn’t
meet his eyes, “Yesterday I had a run in with
Elizabeth. She didn’t come right out and threaten me,
but she certainly implied that she was going to do
something to keep us apart. Maybe I’m just being
paranoid, but I’m terrified that something is going to
happen to ruin our happiness.” Jason immediately went
to her and pulled her tight against him.
“Nothing is going to come between us Courtney. I
promise you that.” he vowed as he softly stroked her
back. For the first time in his life he truly HATED
Elizabeth, and that was never a good thing.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
The night before the wedding, Courtney, Carly and
Emily sat beside each other on the couch in Courtney
and Jason’s apartment simply talking and laughing with
each other. They were trying to do whatever they could
to help calm Courtney’s nerves. She had been cool as a
cucumber up till now, but anyone could easily see the
fear in her eyes.
“Alright Court, tell me what’s going on in that mind
of yours.” Carly smiled as she took a sip of water.
Courtney sighed heavily, “I’m not having second
thoughts or anything. I want to be Jason’s wife more
than ever. It’s just….”
“What?” Emily asked.
“I’m so afraid that AJ or Elizabeth will find some way
to ruin everything.”
“Honey, Jason already has the church surrounded by
security to insure that no one who’s not supposed to
be there will be able to get in. He’s not going to let
anything ruin your day.” Carly gently rubbed her back.
“Try to calm down. Stress isn’t good for the baby.”
“I know, I know. You’re right,” she smiled. She turned
her attention to Emily, hoping to change the subject.
“So Em, I see you’ve been hanging around a the
gorgeous Nikolas Cassadine.”
Emily couldn’t hide her blush, “What? We’re just old
friends.”
“Old friends don’t look at each other the way you two
do. Come on, spill it girl.” Carly goaded.
“I had a crush on Nikolas when I was a teenager. I
guess first loves die hard.”
“I don’t think those feelings have died,” Courtney
grinned. “I mean you haven’t even mentioned Zander at
all since you found out he slept with Elizabeth. From
what I heard he was the love of your life.”
“I still care a lot about Zander, but I’m not in love
with him anymore. I haven’t been for a very long time.
It still hurt to find out that he slept with
Elizabeth, but it didn’t break my heart. But, when I’m
around Nikolas,” a bright smile spread across her
face, “I feel so happy and alive. He just makes me
feel…..he just makes me feel loved.”
“Aw,” Courtney and Carly sighed in unison. “That’s so
sweet.”
“Don’t make fun of me.”
“We aren’t sweetie. We both want you to be as happy in
love as we are.” Carly smiled.
“I think I could be. Of course, neither Nikolas or I
have talked about even dating each other exclusively
yet.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t want to push anything. I’m afraid he’ll get
scared away if I try too much too fast.”
“You two have known each other forever. I don’t think
talking about a relationship would push him away.”
Carly reasoned.
“I guess you’re right.”
“Of course I am. I’m always right, just don’t ask
Sonny or Jason for their opinion on that. They have a
hard time admitting that I’m always right.” she
winked.
“Nikolas is coming as my date to the wedding
tomorrow,” Emily admitted shyly. Courtney and Carly
thought it was so cute. She looked almost like a giddy
teenager.
“See, a wedding is the perfect place to discuss your
relationship.”
“Okay, Carly. I get it. Let’s not push the subject
anymore okay?”
“We’ll let it go…for now anyway.” Courtney paused for
a moment, “What do you think Sonny and Jason are doing
right now?”
“Probably sitting around discussing business.”
Courtney and Emily laughed at Carly’s comment, knowing
she was probably right.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Jason paced the floor of Sonny and Carly’s living
room, trying to calm the butterflies that invaded his
stomach. He never had a problem with being nervous for
anything in his life, but he figured there was always
a first time for everything. Tomorrow he’d be married
to Courtney. That thought filled him with such
happiness. Part of him was just as scared as Courtney
was that something or someone was going to do
something to ruin their moment. He made sure he had
extra security on the church to ensure that didn’t
happen. Tomorrow was going to be the happiest day of
their lives. Jason was going to make sure of that.
Sonny watched his best friend from his seat on the
couch with an amused expression on his handsome face.
“You trying to wear a hole in my floor Jason?”
“My mind is spinning. I just keep thinking about the
security at the church. Do you think we have enough
men there? Should I call for more backup?”
“Jason, calm down. You have plenty of security at the
church already. Nothing is going to happen. Just sit
down.” Jason slumped down into the chair across from
Sonny.
“I just want tomorrow to be perfect for Courtney.”
“It will be. She’s so happy Jason. I actually want to
thank you for what you’ve done for me and my family.
If it weren’t for you my sister might still be married
to that waste of space AJ. You never gave up on your
love for Courtney despite my best efforts to keep you
two apart. I know now that it was a mistake to try to
deny your happiness. I just want you to know how happy
I am for you guys.”
“Thanks Sonny. It really means a lot to me to hear you
say that.”
“I want you and Courtney to be as happy as Carly and I
are.”
“All I want is to make Courtney happy and for us to
have a family.”
“You will. I know you will.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The day was a hectic one. Carly had Courtney at the
church over three hours before the ceremony was
supposed to start. Courtney didn’t understand why they
needed to be there so early, but once they got there
she completely understood. Not only did Carly have to
make sure Courtney looked her best, she had to make
sure everything was perfectly arranged in the
sanctuary as well. Emily arrived at the church an hour
before the ceremony was to start and immediately went
to the bride’s dressing room. She found Carly hovering
behind Courtney, trying to fix her hair and give
orders at the same time.
“Hey Em,” Courtney looked over at her through the
mirror.
“Hey. Is everything under control?”
“Uh, I’m not sure. Carly is on the phone with the
caterers now, and she’s trying to fix my hair. At the
rate we’re going I won’t have any hair left to fix,”
she winced as Carly tugged at her blonde locks.
“Here. Let me work on your hair and let Carly go take
care of whatever it is she needs to.” Carly just gave
her a grateful smile, continued to talk on her cell
phone as she walked out the door. Half an hour later,
Emily had finished Courtney’s hair.
“Wow, Em. It’s perfect,” Courtney smiled as she stared
at her reflection in the mirror.
“I’m glad you like it. Now, let’s get started on your
makeup.” Twenty minutes later, the only thing left for
them to do is to get Courtney in her dress and her
veil in place. She stood in front of the full length
mirror, staring at her reflection in awe. “Oh
Courtney. You look so beautiful,” Emily gushed as she
looked at her soon to be sister in law. Her hair was
curled and pulled up and away from her face, her veil
flowed halfway down her back. Her makeup was flawless
and the smile on her beautiful face made everything
even more perfect. Emily pulled her in for a tight
hug.
“Thank you so much Emily. It means so much for you to
be here for us today. Not just for Jason, but for me
as well.”
“I’ll always be here for both of you. I don’t think
you’ll be able to get rid of me.”
“I think we can live with that.” Suddenly Carly burst
through the door.
“Please tell me you’re ready. I’m so sorry I had to
leave you Court. I had to go rearrange everything for
the reception. You wouldn’t believe what they wanted
to put…..” her voice trailed off as she looked at her
sister in law. Tears glistened in her eyes, the mess
she just fixed forgotten. “You look so beautiful
Courtney.” She quickly went to her and pulled her in
for a warm hug.
“Thank you Carly. Is everything okay for the
reception?”
Carly waved her hand, “Forget about it. It’s all taken
care of. I have something for you though. You know how
it’s tradition to have something old, something new,
something borrowed, and something blue?”
“Oh my God! I completely forgot about that. What am I
going to do Carly?” she began to panic.
“Calm down Court. We have everything taken care of.
Here,” Carly handed her a small black box.
“What is it?”
“Open it and find out.” Courtney opened the box and
found a pair of beautiful teardrop diamond earrings.
“This is your something new from Sonny and me.”
“They’re beautiful. Thank you so much Carly.” Courtney
smiled as Carly placed the earrings in her ears.
“And I want you to wear this,” Emily pulled out a
beautiful heart shaped amethyst pendant necklace.
“This is your something old and borrowed. It was given
to me by my mother before she died. I’d be honored if
you would wear it today.” Emily place her necklace
around Courtney’s slender neck.
“I’m honored you want me to wear something so special
to you Emily. Thank you.” she gave both her and Carly
a quick hug. “What about my something blue?”
“Here,” Carly handed her a small blue handkerchief.
“Your dad gave this to me to give to you. You can
carry it in your hand for good luck, and in case you
need something to wipe your tears.”
“It looks like I have everything I need.” Suddenly
there was a knock at the door. Carly opened it to find
Sonny and Mike on the other side.
“It’s time to start.” Sonny smiled at his wife giving
her a quick kiss. “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you.” Sonny and Mike turned their attention to
Courtney. They both gasped when they saw her.
“Oh, Baby,” tears shown in Mike’s eyes as he pulled
Courtney to him. “You look so beautiful.”
“Thank you Daddy.”
Sonny pulled her to him in a tight hug, “Jason’s one
lucky man. You look beautiful sis.”
“Thanks Sonny,” she smiled up at him.
“Are you ready to go sweetheart?” Mike asked.
“Yes I am. I’ve been waiting for this day my whole
life,” she smiled as she linked her arm through her
father’s. Sonny left to take his place beside Jason at
the other end of the aisle, Emily found her seat
beside Nikolas, then the music started to play.
Michael made his way down the aisle first, holding a
satin pillow with their wedding rings placed atop of
it. Carly was next, looking beautiful in her daffodil
colored dress, carrying a bouquet of sterling and
yellow roses. As soon as Carly was in place, the music
changed. It was then that Jason finally saw her, the
woman he loved more than anyone in the world. She
looked radiant and breathtaking as she made her way
down the aisle to join him. She carried a bouquet of
white roses with sterling and yellow roses mixed in.
When they reached the end of the aisle, Mike gave
Courtney a soft kiss on the cheek, handed her hand
over to Jason, then sat down on the first pew.
Courtney smiled brightly up at Jason as she took her
place beside him. Jason returned her smile, feeling
his heart swell with the love he felt for her.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today….”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Elizabeth stormed up the walkway to the front doors of
the church, determined to make Jason see the mistake
he was making. Courtney wasn’t the right woman for
him, she was. She was the one who knew him best and
who truly loved him. Courtney was just a lying little
twit who slept her way into Jason’s heart. He didn’t
really love her. What he felt for her was pure lust.
She was so lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even see
Marco standing by the door. She stomped up the stairs,
only to feel someone’s arm wrap around her waist and
pull her back down the steps.
“What the….” her voice trailed off. She pushed the man
away so she could see who it was that prevented her
from going into the church. “Marco, what the hell do
you think you’re doing?”
“Keeping you from going inside.”

“It’s a free country. I can go in if I want to.”

“I don’t think so.” He moved to stand in front of her.
“I have strict orders from Sonny and Jason not to let
you inside no matter what.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she seethed.

“I don’t kid.”

She tried to soften her voice in hopes that she could
soften Marco’s defenses. “Come on Marco. I have to get
inside. Jason is about to make the biggest mistake of
his life. I’m the one he really loves, not Courtney. I
have to make him see that.”

“Excuse me Ms. Webber, but I think you’re the biggest
mistake he’s ever made. He loves Courtney and they’re
going to be married and have a family. If you know
what’s good for you, you’ll walk away now.”

Suddenly it hit her what Marco meant. Courtney had to
be pregnant. It all made sense to her now. That’s why
Jason is marrying her, because he’s knocked her up. He
doesn’t really love her. He just feels obligated to
her. A sly smile spread across her face, “You’re right
Marco. I’ll leave now and I won’t give you anymore
trouble.” He simply nodded and watched her as she
walked away. That baby Courtney carried was the only
thing keeping her and Jason apart. The solution to her
problem was simple. Get rid of the baby and Courtney
all in one swoop. Then Jason would be hers and nothing
else would stand in her way.
