Chapter Four

Jason quickly removed his hand from Courtney’s shoulder as the door swung open. Meyers stood in the doorway with a bored expression on his face. He let out an exasperated sigh. “Guess who are perpetrator is?” he asked as Jason placed his hands on his hips lazily. Meyers dragged a brunette into the room and shoved her in front of Jason. “We almost shot her.”

Jason placed his palms over his eyes and rubbed them in frustration before he removed them to look at his best friend Carly Corinthos. “What are you doing here, Carly? Does Sonny know that you’re here?”

Carly turned and gave Meyers a dirty looked. He responded by shutting the door in her face. She turned to look at Jason, then looked around him at Courtney. “I wanted to make sure that Janine wasn’t lying and just trying to get her filthy hands on Sonny’s money.” she looked Courtney up and down and gave a half smile. “She looks just like her mother.” she sneered. Jason groaned.

“Don’t you dare come storming in here and make accusations when you don’t even know me.” Courtney told Carly heatedly.

“Excuse me, little missy” Carly challenged as Jason stood in the way of the two women. “This is my husbands household. You are here by his good graces. So don’t get smart with me.”

Before Courtney could retaliate, Jason spoke up. “Courtney, this is Sonny’s wife, Carly Corinthos. Carly, this is Sonny’s sister, Courtney Matthews.” neither of them said anything to one another, so Jason decided to ask Carly why she was here. “Carly, how did you get down here?”

She glared at Courtney a few seconds longer, before turning to look at him. “I took Sonny’s jet. Conrad flew me.”

“Money like that will open up anyone’s legs, wont it Carly?” Courtney asked as Carly’s eyes had become slits of anger. She was shacking with anger as Courtney smiled gleefully, happy to know that she had angered the little witch. She had no right coming in here and accusing her like she knew her. In fact that was one of Courtney’s worst fears, to become like her mother.

“Courtney!” Jason hissed at her. “Listen, I want both of you to stop. Right now! Courtney, can you please go to your room while I talk to Carly for a minute.”

Courtney glared at him. “You cant tell me what to do.”

“Courtney. I just want to talk to Carly for a minute. I don’t care were you go, just let me talk to her and get everything situated.” he pleaded.

“Fine.” she mumbled as she left the room. Jason turned to look at Carly.

“I don’t like her, Jase.” she said as she shook her head. “She doesn’t seem right to me.” she replied as she wrapped her arms around her abdomen.

“Will you lower your voice?” Jason asked, both of them not knowing that the blonde was already listening in to there conversation. “Do you know how much danger you not only put yourself in but Courtney in as well?” he asked, frustrated with the petite brunette.

“Oh come on!” she laughed sardonically. “You actually don’t believe that she is in real danger, do you?” Jason didn’t reply, so Carly continued her ranting on how much she didn’t like

Courtney. “I mean, come on. A money grubber like Janine Matthews just showed up out of the blue and said that some kid was Mikes and that she was on danger. All they want is Sonny’s money.”

Courtney got as close as she could with out being noticed. “I don’t know what to believe. All I know is that Sonny has a sister that is in danger and I’m just going by Sonny’s orders.”

“I don’t buy it Jason.” she said. Courtney just wanted to go out there and ring her scrawny neck. “Come on, we have no proof that she is being stalked. Why should we believe her? Because she said so?”

Jason was getting frustrated with his best friend as he raked his hands through his hair. “What do you want me to do Carly?” he hissed fiercely. “Do you want me to take her back to Port Charles? I cant Carly. What if she is really being stalked and she is really in danger?”

Carly gave him a look that said, ‘Come on?!’ “Don’t give me that look, Carly.” he stated as he pointed a finger at her. “Do you think that I want to be here? Do you think that I want to be here, guarding someone that I don’t even know?” Courtney didn’t hear Carly answer, so Jason continued. “God, Carly, it’s my job! I don’t even like this girl.”

“Then stop.” She heard Carly. “Tell Sonny that this is a whole big scam to get his money. God.” she let out a frustrated sigh. “Why is it that he is the only one that doesn’t see that Janine Matthews is just using him.”

Courtney had heard enough. If she was that big of a hassle, she didn’t need to be here.

Courtney began to look around the room, then realized that nothing in the room belonged to her. Everything was provided by Jason or her “brother” Sonny.

She didn’t want to stay here any more. She didn’t care what Jason or Sonny said, they were not going to hold her here as if she were some sort of a prisoner. She didn’t care that they said that she was being “stalked” or that she was in danger, she knew when she was not wanted.

Courtney stood in the room, shaking with anger. She had to get out. She had to leave tonight!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

“No, Jason,” she begged as Jason pushed her towards the hanger the next day. “No, Jason, just let me stay here. Please. I promise that I wont be that much trouble.”

Jason glared at the desperate women. “Carly.” he tried to explain. “You can not stay here. You already put yourself in danger by flying down here with out Sonny’s permission....”

Carly snorted as she intervened through Jason’s rants “I do not need Sonny’s permission for everything, Jason.” she shrugged. “You’re my best friend Jase, and I wanted to make sure that your all right.”

Good bye, Carly.” he smiled as he walked away form her.

“I hate you Jason Morgan!!” she yelled at the top of her lungs, making it echo throughout the hanger.

Jason laughed as he waved. He seen Meyers running towards him with a worried expression on his face. He was panting by the time he reached Jason. “What is it?” he asked, growing concerned as he looked at Meyers, who labored for breath. “What is it?” he repeated.

“Courtney--she-she’s gone!”

Jason burst through the doors of the villa as his eyes scanned the interior. “Courtney?” he yelled, hoping that maybe she just went out and she was now back. “Courtney?” he yelled again as he burst into the room she was staying in.

He groaned in frustration and anger as he glanced at her bed. It was another one of her childish antics.

The covers were tossed back and pillows were on the bed in a straight line, posing as her. He shook his head. Great, just what he needed.

Courtney looked around, not sure where she was. All she cared about was that she was far away from Jason and that witch Carly.

She glanced up and seen a string of casinos and smiled. Her specialty. Her mother used to work in a bunch of casinos when she was younger, so she was a pro in them.

She was about to walk into one of them called ‘The Golden Nugget’ when she felt a hand clasp around her mouth and the smell of chloroform went through her nostrils before everything went black.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Harte looked up when there was a timid knock on the door. “Come in” he barked.

The redhead poked hi head in, and staggered into the room. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “What?” Harte asked impatiently.

“We got want you wanted.”

A devious smiled curled on Harte’s lips. “Perfect.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Courtney began to struggle under the strong arms when a strange smell invaded her nostrils. She began to feel very weak as Everything went black.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

“Come here.” he ordered as his men laid her down on the couch. “Be gentle. Make sure she’s okay.”

He turned around to face he younger man. “She’s fine. She’s still breathing.” he reported as he pressed his two fingers lightly against her throat.

“Wake her up!” Jason ordered as he placed his hands on his hips in anger. He told her that she shouldn’t have gone out, but she didn’t listen. Two days. They have known each other for two days and he couldn’t stand her.

He looked down at her as Meyers rubbed her forehead gently. There was so much concern and care in his face that it shocked Jason. He didn’t really care for Courtney, did he? He asked himself.

“Could you go get me a warm cloth rag?’ Meyers asked as he looked over his shoulder. Jason was shocked and somewhat amused. ‘Did Meyers just give him an order?’ “Please?” he asked, irritated.

Jason just shook his head as he walked out of the room. He got a wash cloth and let it run under that hot water. He tapped his foot lightly as he turned the water off and ringed out the rag. Walking back into the living room, he handed the rag to Meyers.

Jason crossed his arms over his chest roughly as he watched the body guard gently rub the rag across her temple and forehead. Jason watched intensely. He didn’t like the way that Meyers was touching her and looking at her. But for some reason, he couldn’t explain why.

His attention was drawn back to the coach when she began to stir and she moaned. He watched her as she slowly touched her forehead and sat up. She then realized what had happened, she jerked away.

“It’s okay. It’s okay.” Meyers soothed as he rubbed the side of her face with the pad of his thumb. Jason turned his head away. “Its just me, and Jason.”

“What--What happened?” she asked as she looked around the room. Her eyes landed on Jason. She had the worst headache in the word. The last thing that she remembered was that she was walking into a casino and then she felt a hand wrap around her mouth and everything went black. “What did you do to me?” she asked, directly towards Jason.

“I didn’t do anything to you” he spat. “You are the one that disobeyed my orders.” he retorted hotly. “The same exact thing could have happened to you and you could have been killed. Your lucky that Meyers was able to track you down before anyone could have seen you.”

She turned to face Meyers as if Jason wasn’t in the room. “Thanks Kevin.” she muttered softly. It seemed so odd for Jason to hear some one call Meyers by his first name.

“Meyers,” Jason started coldly. “can you leave, I want to talk to Courtney for a minute.”

Meyers looked between Jason and Courtney hesitantly as his eyes drifted to Courtney. “What do you think I’m going to her?” Jason asked harshly. Meyers merely shook his head as he gave Courtney a smile, reassuring smile, which she returned.

Once Meyers was out of the room, Courtney tried to sit up, but the fumes were getting to her head and it brought her back down. “What the hell were you thinking by going out into the town when I told you that it wasn’t safe?” he asked through gritted teeth as his eyes blazed with anger.

Courtney was taken back at how angry he looked. Courtney refused to be intimidated by the man standing in front of her, but she still avoided looking him actually in the eyes. “It is not fair that you have me locked into a house like…like” she was at a lost of words at the moment. “Like I’m some sort of animal!” she finally said at last.

Jason placed his hands on his hips in a lazy manner. “That is my job, Courtney!” he insisted, trying to get it through her head that what he was doing was for her, not against her. “I was told to come down here, find you and to protect you.” He breathed in deeply as he ran his hands over his face desperately. “And you are not making my job any easier by running off and not telling me and flirting with one of the guards.”

“There is nothing going on between me and Kevin!” she stated a little too quickly, making Jason smirk. “Stop laughing at me! There is nothing going on between us.” she folded her arms across her chest crossly. She was shooting daggers at him with her eyes. “Besides, Kevin is the only one that is nice to me, why shouldn’t I return the affection?”

Jason arched in eyebrow at the comment. “By getting into his pants?”

Courtney stared speechless at the harsh words Jason had just said to her. “Do you think that I’m some sort of whore?” she flustered. “Because I’m not one of those girls who will go around wearing skanky clothing to get a guys attention.”

Jason sat down quickly at the foot of the couch. He placed his hand on her leg absentmindedly. “I didn’t say that you were a whore.” he told her. It was the truth. She was the farthest thing from it. He realized that he was stroking her ankle gently, and he immediately stopped.

“Look,” he continued when she still hadn’t spoken. “You can stay on the beach, and if you decide that you want to go out to the casinos, have one of the guards take you, just.” he paused for a moment as he pondered over his words. “Just don’t go out alone.”

She looked up at him “Dully noted.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Harte smiled down at the files. Everything was going according to plan. Jason Morgan had something to do with Courtney’s disappearance. He picked up the phone and dialed the number slowly as he cleared his throat.

“Atlantic City Police Department, how may we help you?” a women, sounding very bored.

“Yes,” his voice falsely cracked. “My…My girlfriend Courtney Matthews went missing and,” he sucked in a deep breath. “I--I think…no, I know, that Jason Morgan kidnapped her.”
