Chapter Seven
::::A couple of days later::::
Eddie Harte through down the phone as he kicked the desk in anger. He couldn’t
believe that she had gotten through his hands. Again! She was right their, he
could have had her! What in the hell went wrong?!
He looked up at the door as he saw who came in. He growled in anger as he
walked around the desk and stormed up to the tiny red head. “What the hell
happened! You saw him in the diner! You saw her in there and then him walk
after her! He was asking questions about her, who else could have taken her?”
he asked through clenched teeth, his wound in tight balls.
The young man jumped back and pushed the clipboard in front of his face, just
below his eyes. “Umm....it could have been her brother.” he offered in a high
voice.
He cocked his head to one side as his body shook with anger. “Who do you think
Jason Morgan works for?” he hissed.
The man shook his head as he took a few steps backwards. Harte wanted to
throttle something right at the moment. “I--I know what you could do, sir?”
“Enlighten me then!” he said. He was going to have Courtney if it was the last
thing he did.
“What about getting into the business with that man.....uh....Lorenzo Alcazar I
think was his name. He hates Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan just as much as
you do and if you work with him---then uh--Morgan and Corinthos will be out of
the way and C--Courtney will be all yours.”
Harte contemplated the idea for a moment, then smiled. “For once, I think that
you may have an idea that I could work with.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Courtney sat on the couch as she flipped through an old addition of the Port
Charles Herald. Two years old to be exact. This must be the town that Jason lives
in. she told her self stupidly.
“Crime rate escalates.” she read aloud as she glazed over a headline. She shook
her head when she looked down and pulled the paper up to her face. “Mob boss?”
she whispered as the paper was talking about Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan.
The article had said that there was a shoot out on the docks and that four
people were shot and in Port Charles General Hospital.
She looked up as the door opened and Jason walked in. She sat up and folded the
paper back up. She couldn’t believe that her brother was a notorious mob boss
and that she was living with and......married to a mobster! She wanted to get
away....far away from this man as possible.
She sat up and scooted away from him as she stood up. “What’s wrong with you?”
he asked as he took his jacket off.
“You’re a mobster?” she accused as he stared at her. “Why haven’t you...” she
was so angry that her words were jumbling up. “Did you think that I would be
okay with living with a man that’s in the mob?!” she stammered, didn’t know if
she was shacking from anger or fear, but she was shacking furiously.
He through his keys onto the table as he looked up at her, his eyes
emotionless. He shrugged, not denying that he was in the mob. “You found out.”
he muttered as his eyes wandered to the folded up newspaper that laid on the
couch. “Look Courtney..” he paused, contemplating his words. “I didn’t want you
to find out like this.”
She crossed her arms over her chest as she squared her chin at him. “So you
think that if you had told me at a later time, that would have made it any
better?” she accused as she looked over his shoulder and seen the door open and
Kevin step in. “Are you in the mob as well?” she asked coldly.
He looked between Courtney and Jason with bewilderment as Jason shook his head,
obviously telling him not to answer her. “What do you want Meyers?” he asked
softly.
“I--um.....there’s a few people here that said that they need to see you. Its
about the shipment.” he replied as he looked pat Jason and over at Courtney.
She had never wanted to leave a room more than her life.
“Okay, tell Marco that I’ll be there in a few minutes.” Kevin looked over at
her as she turned her head. She heard the door shut with a soft click as Jason
sighed heavily. “Are you at least going to let me explain?” he asked as the
tension filled room went silent again.
She shrugged as she finally brought herself to look up at him, but not in his
eyes. Never in his eyes. “I’m not saying anything am I?” she asked in a
snarkier tone then she had wanted.
“Me and Sonny know that our life is dangerous, but that doesn’t mean that we
wont protect you.” he promised as Courtney snorted.
“Your in the mob, Jason!” she stated, pointing out the obvious. “Your life is
always going to be filled with danger and your loved ones getting killed!”
Courtney brought in a quivering breath. “Have you killed anyone?” she asked.
Jason searched her face. She looked angry, but she looked afraid more than
anything. Her eyes were glazed over with fear and every time that he would try
and take a step towards her, she would always move away. He wanted her to know
that he was going to protect her even though her brother was in the mob. “Yes,
I have killed people.”
She shook her head. “You Know, I know you don’t like me and that you would
rather be with your other mob friends,” she spat “But don’t you think that I at
least deserved to know the truth?”
Jason could feel the anger that was rising in him as he tried hard to keep it
under control. “What would you have done if you had known from the beginning
Courtney?” he asked seriously as he braced his hands on his hips. “What would
you have done if I had told you on the plane that I was in the mob?”
She didn’t answer him automatically. “I would have tried to get away from you.”
she finally spoke, her voice small.
“Exactly.” he replied as she glared at him. “It would have been at lot more
dangerous if you would have tried to leave then you staying here with me. Your
in danger Courtney. I was trying to protect you like your brother asked me to.”
She cocked her head to one side. “Oh, yea! I got the mobster with a heart.” she
replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I--I just....need some time to
think, all right?”
She walked down the hallway towards her room as Jason heard the door shut. He
shook his head as his phone rang. Reaching into his pocket, he grabbed his cell
phone. “Morgan”
“We’ve got more trouble down here.” his boss replied, Jason could hear the
anger in his tone and he knew that it wasn’t good. “Alcazar just made a hit on
Gregg and now, he’s in the hospital.”
Jason ran his hands over his face. Just what he needed to hear. “What? Wh---why
would he make a hit out on Gregg?”
“It’s a warning” Sonny told him. “He said that he’s not finished yet and-- and
he also said that he was coming after.....her.”
“What do you mean her?” he asked, his voice a little more irritated then he
intended.
“I think he meant Courtney.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Courtney sat on the balcony that over looked the water. She wanted to get off
of this island. She brought her knees up and rested her chin on them. She
rested her face in her up drawn knees and let out a muffled scream. God she
hated that man!
Why hadn’t she told her that he was in organized crime? “Your in danger
Courtney,” she mimicked. “I was trying to protect you like your brother asked.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah!” She screamed.
She raked her hands through her hair. She breathed in deeply. She looked out at
the horizon as the sun set over the sea. She just wanted to go home. Have
things go back to the way they used to be before all of this mess. She looked
over at the door when she heard a soft tap. “Courtney,” a familiar voice said. “Courtney
open up the door, we need to talk.”
Courtney got off of the railing of the balcony and made her way to the door.
She opened the door and stared him in the face. “What do you want?”
He walked past her and entered the room as Courtney sighed in frustration. She
turned around to face him as she crossed her arms over her chest defiantly. “Look,
we really didn’t mean to lie to you,” Kevin tried making her understand. “Jason
thought that it would be for the best since you were already freaking out.
Trust me, Jason would never harm you.”
Courtney nodded her head, not believing a word of his trash. “Jason kills
people for a living and I will not stay in a house with a man that kills people
just for the fun of it!” her voice was raising as she remembered that article.
“That’s just it.” he hissed in a soft voice. “Jason doesn’t kill people for the
fun of it. Sonny tells him what to do, or if his life is in any danger, then he
does what he has to, to protect himself.”
Courtney looked up at him, her eyes brimming with tears. “My brother forces him
to kill people? My brother is a mob boss!” she admitted to herself as she began
to cry. She quickly wiped the tears away. She hated looking weak in front of
someone else. “You probably kill people too, don’t you?” she asked.
Kevin stepped closer towards her. “I’m the same way. I don’t kill people unless
I am told to or my life is in any danger. He cupped her face as his lips came
down on hers in another kiss.
Jason walked through the hallway as he came towards Courtney’s door. He needed
to talk to her. To get everything straightened out. He really hadn’t meant to
lie to her, he just thought that it was in her best interest if he kept it to
himself for a while.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He walked up to her room and noticed her door was open. “Court--” he stopped
when he seen her and Meyers kissing. His arms were wrapped around her waist as
her arms were around his neck.
Jason shut the door quietly.
Chapter Eight
A/N:
Lets pretend that Meyers is young in my story. I don’t want him to look old
like on the show. LOL! Oh, if you want to read this story else where, my friend
Isabelle posted it for me on the Take The Journey Message Board. She’s
so nice. Some of you guys should post your Fanfiction there. It’s fun over
there, and I know they would love to read them Anyways, on to the story.
Jason
looked on as Courtney and Meyers were kissing. They obviously didn’t see him,
so he cleared his throat loudly. They pulled apart quickly as Meyers eyes
darted to the floor. “God, Jason, don’t you know how to knock?” Courtney
accused darkly. “Or even know the concept of privacy?”
Jason
cocked his head to one side. “Don’t you know how to keep your hands off the
guards?” he said in a slow even tone
Her
lip curled at the remark. Jason looked between the two. “I’m going down to
dinner. Unless you two want to stay up here and starve, I suggest you come with
me.” he replied in the same monotone as before.
“You
don’t own me Jason Morgan!” she spat as he was about turn his back on the two. “I
am aloud to do whatever I want without having to have your consent. I’m not a
child!”
“Then
stop acting like one!” he hissed. “Do you think I want to be here, Courtney? Do
you think that I want to be here babysitting an ungrateful person like you? I
put my life on hold to go down to New Jersey to find a person I didn’t even
know. To take her down to this island and protect her, then to marry her just
to try and keep her safe. And what do I get in return? Constant yelling and
arguing.” he paused, trying not to let his angry take the best of him.
He
glared at her and Meyers one last time before walking out of the room.

Courtney
raked her fingers through her hair. She didn’t know what had just happened. It
was like one big blur. First she was kissing Kevin, then the next thing she
knew Jason was there and he was yelling at her, calling her ungrateful.
Maybe
she was ungrateful. She never really took in consideration his feelings. She
just always assumed that he had no problem coming down here, what with the way
that he acted. Then again, he never showed his emotions.
“Hello?
Courtney? Earth to Courtney.” she was snapped back into reality when she saw
Meyers standing in front of her waving his hand in front of her face. “Are you
okay?” he asked as he pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans. She
nodded. “I’m sorry for getting you in trouble with Jason. I know that it wasn’t
your fault. I’m the own that kissed you.”
Courtney
shook her head. “No---I could have stopped you, but--I--I think that it would
be best if we kept our distance for a while. I--I mean, I’m not saying that I
don’t like you. I think you’re my only friend on the whole island,” she
chuckled, “but, I haven’t been fair to Jason.”
Meyers
nodded. “Yeah,” he shrugged, “I mean it wouldn’t be very logical to get
involved with the bosses sister, would it?” he laughed softly. “I better go and
deal with Jason. Better now then later.” he gave her a feather light kiss on
the cheek before exiting the room.
Courtney
lost her appetite.

Jason
looked around the kitchen, he didn’t know why he was so angry, he just was. And
that made him even angrier. A couple minutes later, Meyers walked into the
kitchen. Jason looked up at him. “You shouldn’t be getting involved with Sonny’s
sister, Meyers. You know what Sonny would do.” Jason left out the part that
that was one of the reason Sonny wanted him to stay on the island was to keep
the other guards off of Courtney.
“I
know. And it’s not Courtney’s fault.” he added quickly obviously trying to
protect her, which only seemed to fuel Jason’s anger.
He
bit his tongue as he looked down at the linoleum floor. “Stay away from
Courtney, Meyers. I don’t want to have to tell Sonny about this”
Meyers
shook his head. “No, I know. And I fully understand. I just want to be her
friend. She’s lonely on this Island,
Jason. She needs a friend.”
“Did
she tell you that?” he asked.
He
contemplated his words before speaking. “Something along those lines.” he shook
his head. “She thinks I’m her only friend.”
Jason
shrugged. “She’s not here to make friends. She’s here so that we can keep her
safe. And that’s what I intend to do.”
The
door swung open as Gregg on of the guards, as he burst into the room. He was
panting as he doubled over, labouring for air. “We--we found---intruder. He--he
wont speak, he just keeps his mouth shut. What we should we do with him?”
Jason
rubbed his hands over his face. This was just not his day. “Stay here with
Courtney.” he told Gregg, then turned to Meyers, “Come with me. Gregg, where is
this guy at?”
__________________________________________________________________
Courtney
walked out of her room as she made her way towards the kitchen. It was oddly
quiet in the villa and that made her nervous. It was getting dark outside as
she wrapped her arms around her waist. She walked into the living area and
instead of seeing Jason or Kevin, she saw another one of the guards pacing.
“What’s
going on?” she asked, starling him. “Where is Jason and Meyers?”
“They--they
uh, they had some business that they needed to have taken care of” he told her.
‘The strawberry blonde was a terrible liar,’ she concluded.
“Are
you going to tell me the truth?” she asked. “I have a right to know what is
going on.” she declared. “Please, just tell me where they are.”
He
looked around the room, his eyes darting all over the place as he hesitantly
told her where they were. She nodded. “Thank you. I appreciate it. If you don’t
mind, I think I am going to take a nap.”
She
walked towards her room. She had to
go and see this guy for herself. If he was the one that was stalking her and
making her life a complete hell, oh, she wanted to see him!
_____________________________________________________________________
Jason
walked into the dark room as he seen a man that was no older then him sitting
in a chair, his face was beaten and his hands were tied behind his back. He
looked up at Jason, curled his lip then looked back down. Jason knelt in front
of the man. “Who do you work for?” he asked coldly.
“You
got life fucked up if you think that I am going to tell you anything.” he spat.
Jason
punched him in the face with the butt of his gun. “I’m going to ask you again,
who do you work for?”
Jason
watched as he spit blood on his pant leg. He had had enough with this shit.
Jason pulled back the mans head and began to punch him in the face. It seemed
like all of his pent up anger went in to beating the anonymous man sitting in
front of him. Until he heard it. He heard a women whimper from behind him.
Jason
turned around to see a Courtney peeping through the door, her body trembling as
her eyes focused on the man sitting in front of him, unconscious. “Courtney,”
was all he said as she took off running.
____________________________________________________________________
Courtney
brought a shacking hand up to her face as she peeped through the door. She had
heard some yelling from outside, but when she opened the slightly ajar door,
she was stunned. She had seen Jason hit the man with his gun, then he spit on
Jason then Jason began to beat the sense out of him.
When
it got worse, she felt herself try not to cry, but she couldn’t move. She let
out a small whimper when he finally stopped. He turned around to look at her,
but se ran off. She couldn’t look at him, she just couldn’t.
She
ran back to the villa as tears clouded her vision. How could any person be so
cruel? Was the question that kept playing through her head.
She
made her way in the back of the villa and walked numbly to her room. She threw
herself onto the bed and let out a sob.
____________________________________________________________________
Jason
stormed into the penthouse, fuming. He had let Courtney see what he did. He
didn’t like her, but he didn’t ever
want her to see what he had to do for a living. He saw Gregg sitting on the
couch. “Where’s Courtney?” he asked. He told him that she was in her room, that
she was taking a nap, he then asked how everything went.
Jason
ignored the last question and made his way to her room. He knocked on her door
and slowly entered. She was laying on her side, her back towards him. “Courtney,
are you okay?” he asked gently as he sat on the edge of the bed. She didn’t
answer. “Come on, Courtney, I’m so sorry you had to see that. I truly am. But,
that was a man that was working for the man that is stalking you. He’s
dangerous.”
“So,
beating him senseless is going to help?” she asked as she turned towards him. “Is
this what you do for a living? I mean, beat up and kill people.”
Jason
inhaled, the exhaled heavily. I protect your brother and his family. If someone
is threatening him, or trying to hurt him or his family, I protect him.”
Her
eyes began to water. “So, my brother tells you---tells you to kill people?” she
chocked out as Jason instinctively began to stroke the top of her head.
“Only
if there a threat, Courtney.” he tried making her see that they weren’t as bad
as they were making her out to be. “We don’t kill people for the hell of it,
Courtney. What’s the point?”
She
shrugged. “I don’t know. It’s just--” she moaned and rubbed her face. “I never
thought I would see something like that, ya know? I just, I need some time.”
He
nodded. “I understand fully.” He stood up. “I-uh-I guess I’ll leave you alone
then. Get some sleep. Maybe it’ll help.”
“Jason,
wait.” she called out as he reached the door. He turned to look at her. “Will
you stay with me for tonight. I don’t want to be alone.”
He
nodded. He went for the couch when he saw her move over on the bed and made
room for him. He looked at her for a moment. Her face was tear stricken and he
had never seen her look more innocent then she did right then. He took off his
jacket and shoes and laid on the bed with her.
The
room was silent for a few minutes until Courtney spoke. “Jason.”
“Hmm?”
“I
appreciate everything that your doing for me.” she mumbled. “Thank you.”
Finally
some bonding, huh?
