After watching the doctors roll Courtney away Jason reached inside of his leather jacket and pilled out his cell phone. His hands were shaking as he dialed Sonny’s number waiting for an answer.

Hearing the phone rind Sonny jumped up to answer it. He was hoping it was Jason but was scared to know what information he would hear.

“Corinthos,” he said in a gruff voice.

“Hey Sonny it’s me. You need to get down to the hospital right now. I will explain when you get here.” Jason’s heart broke as he imagined how panicked Sonny was feeling. He knew because he was feeling the same way.

“Oh my god. Jason we’re on out way.”

Sonny quickly hung up the phone and turned to Carly. She could see the tears welling up in his eyes and she knew something was terribly wrong.

“Well Sonny? What’s wrong what happened?” She said now panicked at the thought of something happening to her sister-in-law.

“It’s Courtney, we have to go to the hospital now.”

Without another word spoken the two grabbed their coats and rushed out the door leaving Marco to look after Michael.

The limo ride to the hospital was silent. Even the driver could feel the tension in the air as he sped down the highway. The two passengers in the back seat were almost in shock at the events that had already taken place and they began to wonder what was to come.

The vehicle came to a stop in from of General Hospital as Sonny and Carly rushed into the building. Upon reaching the 4th floor they saw Jason sitting in the waiting room writing some sort of letter with tears rolling down his face. They were taken by surprise by all of the emotions they could clearly see running throughout their friend.

“Jason, sweetie are you ok?” Carly asked trying to ring her friend out of his trance.

“Yeah man what happened,” Sonny asked. His heart was breaking with every tear he saw steam down Jason’s face.

“It’s Courtney,” he whispered......”I tried, It tried so hard to get there in time but she was screaming and I couldn’t get to her and....”

Sonny cut Jason off seeing thte pain that his friend was going through. “Jason, this wasn’t your fault...It had nothing to do with you. It’s my life that did this to her.”

“No Sonny you don’t understand. I love her!! I love her so much and we have been seeing each other for a while. We were going to tell you and she was just so happy.....Now look what i did. It’s me, my life and my love that did this to her. Someone else paid attention and knew she would be the one thing that would hurt me and they used it to their advantage,”

“What you were dating my sister? “ Sonny was genuinely shocked. He could not believe how he could miss something so important.

“Yes and Sonny I’m sorry. But I Love Her and I never meant for this to happen.

“Jason, I’m not mad. Don’t you realize this is the happiest I have seen my sister in a ling time. She is practically glowing when she walks into a room. You do that for her Jase, You are what she needs in her life and I would never take that away from her. Love is to precious to let go of so hold onto what you have.”

“She’s the happiest you’ve seen her? I’m what she needs??? Well why don’t you go tell her that while she is laying on a cold operating table Sonny. Why don’t you go tell her that this was suppose to happen.” Jason could feel his entire body shaking with fear. He felt as if he were loosing so much control but it didn’t seem to matter nothing would matter without her. “I did this to her! She could be dying in there and it’s because of me!”

Carlyh rushed to Jason’s side and engulfed him in a tight hug and began quietly whispering to him...

“Jason honey, It’s ok.....It’s ok. you need to hang on. you need to be strong for her Jason. She’s fighting for you so you need to fight for her.”

Just then Monice rushed out od the room to inform Jason.

“Monica, how is she?” they all said in unison.

“Well maybe you should come to my office...”

“No I want to know now...right here. Just tell me!!” Jason yelled let every emotion, the pain, the fear, the anger, and the love control his every thought and move.

“Courtney was beaten and raped...She also had a stab and bullet wound. We have stabilized her but she is in a coma. I’m not sure when she will wake up.”

Jason slowly took control of his feelings and looked somberly at his mom. “Can I see her?”

“Yes but one persona t a time and keep it brief ok. Try to talk to her as much as you can.” She stated before pointing to the room they placed Courtney in.

Jason slowly crept into the room and looked at the beautiful girl in front of him. Her dace was covering in bruises and her body way stiff. Jason pulled a chair up to the bedside and looked over at her.

“Courtney...I am so sorry,” he cried. “I am so sorry that you ever had to go through this. It’s my fault this shouldn’t have happened to you. You are my beautiful angel who i thought would never be hurt. bu you were and I can’t let that happen again. U have you this letter. When you wake up you won’t understand why I am doing this but one day you will. I love you.” He leaned down and gently kissed her they laid the letter on the desk next to her before exiting the room.

Sonny saw Jason walking and stopped him in his tracks. “Hey man where are you going?”

“I have to go. I have to leave here. There is a letter I left for Courtney. Please make sure she reads it. I’ve got to go.”

“Jason, man what are you talking about?” He didn’t believe what he was hearing.

“I’m going to where I can’t hurt her anymore. I will be back when I can bye.” It hurt Jason so much to have to tell his best friend goodbye but he knew it was something that he needed to do.

“Ok but please don’t stay gone too long. Whether you believe me or not she needs you.”

“HJey can you do one last thing for me?”

“Yeah sure whatever you need.”

“Jason reached inside his pocket and pulled out a square velvet box. “Please return this to the Jewelry store for me. I won’t be using it anymore.”

“Is this what I think it is?” Tears came to Sonny’s face as he realized just how much Jason really did love Courtney.

“Sonny, just don’t....Please don’t” It hurt Jason to much to think of what he was giving up...even if he was doing it for her.

Without another word Jason rushed out of the hospital with tears steaming down his face once more. “I’ll always love you,” he vowed. “I will always love you!”
