Chapter
13
Courtney flopped down on the couch resting her head in
Jason's lap. It was pretty late and she was dead tired.
"Oh my god my feet are killing me" she whined
playfully as Jason began to stroke her hair.
They had just dropped off Michael and Morgan across the hall
when Sonny and Carly came back. Baby Lila's nanny had also brought her back to
Sonny's when the day was over. Now their hands were full and Jason and Courtney
could have some alone time.
Jason laughed. "I told you we shouldn't have taken that
extra tour"
"Oh just shut up" Courtney said as she pulled
Jason in slowly for a slow kiss.
Just than the phone rang. It was Sonny, no surprise there.
Jason moaned as Courtney broke the kiss allowing him to reach over and grab the
cell off the coffee table.
"Yeah?" asked Jason slightly irritated as they
both sat up.
"Hey Jase. Look, Max and Marco just found out some
information about where Faith could be headed. They overheard some pilot
complaining about flying his plane from the abandoned hangar, just east of the
401. Tonight. You know that place hasn't been used in forever, so I want you to
go and check everything out. Are you alright with that?"
Jason nodded "I'll be there." He flipped the phone
off.
Jason could already feel Courtney's eyes on him. They were
full of worry. The familiar, agitating feeling crept back again as it seemed
things had never changed. But they had to and they would. Jason didn't want
Courtney to feel that way and Courtney had to be strong for him.
"Courtney I....."
"It's ok Jason, I understand. Just don't come home too
late," Courtney smiled.
A new feeling had washed over her, something had changed.
This was the man she loved, this was who he was. Their love would have to stand
the test of time. They had both been through hell and back, but never alone. No
matter how hard they tried to push it away, bury it, and forget about it, the
love was still there. And it always would be. Just knowing that brought a new
kind of faith and comfort unlike anything she had felt before.
Jason wrapped her in his arms placing his lips onto her
forehead "I'll be back soon, I promise"
"You know I love you, right" said Courtney placing
her hands on the side of his face, kissing him gently.
Jason saw something different in Courtney as he gazed into
her crystal blue eyes. A stronger kind of faith, love, determination. Well
whatever it was he liked it.
"I love you too," Jason smiled as he kissed her
once more before heading out.
~Abandoned Airplane Hangar~
It was just about one o'clock as Jason stood hidden behind
some wooden crates, waiting for someone, anyone to show up. He had been there
for about 2 hours and was ready to call Sonny and tell him, the whole thing
must've been a fluke.
It was pretty cold outside for a September night and Jason
knew that some of the half dozen guys with him, were also ready to call it a
day.
The hangar was pretty beat up and it looked like it was
about ready to fall apart. Almost all the windows near the top of the hangar
were stained and broken, letting the faint moonlight shine through.
As soon as Jason picked up his phone, all of a sudden he
heard footsteps quickly making its way from the other side of the crates. The
other guys heard it too, as they positioned themselves providing back up for
Jason just in case.
Jason silently ran through the maze of crates following the
noise of the footsteps, which also quickened their pace. The person obviously
knew they were being followed. Jason had an idea and instead of heading towards
the noise he rounded the corner and WHAM!!! knocked the person onto the floor.
They were now out in front of the hangar where sure enough
there was a small jet waiting ready to go. Jason heard some of the men force
the pilot out of the jet while the rest stood around Jason and the person he
had just knocked to the floor, guns ready.
Jason turned the figure over who tried to struggle out of
his grip. He tore the hood off the figure's head to reveal flowing blond hair
and a set of sinister eyes. Faith Roscoe.
"Easy on the grip there Morgan," Faith said before
Jason took the gun and lifted it against her neck.
Faith continued. "Now, now we wouldn't want Bunny to
get upset if anything happened..."
"Faith SHUT UP!!!" yelled Jason as he forced Faith
off the ground and slammed her against the back of a crate.
Faith winced in pain as Jason held the gun to her forehead
as he spoke. "You will never even get the chance to think about hurting
Sonny, Carly or Courtney......"
"WAIT!!!" Faith yelled, the last thing she wanted
to be was dead. Even if it meant surrendering to Sonny and Jason. "Don't
kill me!! I have something you'd want to know about Bunn- er i mean Courtney!!!
That held Jason's attention for half a second. "What
about Courtney!?!" he asked growing impatient.
"I'll want something in return...." Faith began.
But Jason interrupted "Don't even think about it!!
yelled Jason once more. "Dead or alive, what you have to tell me is
useless because Courtney and I...."
Faith knew she was finally trapped and gave in. If she was
going down, then Jax was going down with her. "It's about the baby"
she stated at last, catching Jason's attention even more.
"It's not Jaxs', it's yours," Faith said
truthfully.
Jason thought to himself for a second. How did she even know
about the baby? Was she lying and making it all up?
"How would I know you're telling the truth?" asked
Jason loosening his grip, but gun still held.
Faith sighed and reached into her coat pocket, as the men
began to point their guns toward her.
"Relax you overgrown, dumb-witted fools" she said
as she showed them her cell phone.
They backed off so that she could show the pictures to Jason
in private. Jason couldn't believe what he saw. There were about several
pictures of Jax backed turned, with clear views of a computer screen. Some
pictures were even zoomed in so that you could see the exact words, which
showed that Jax tampered with and switched the paternity results.
Jason was overcome with a mix of emotions, which ran through
his body. First anger boiled up inside him with a new passionate hatred for
that of Jax. He never knew he could feel hatred that great. Second the
realization that the baby was really HIS made him want to run out of the hangar
and straight home to tell Courtney.
But first things first. He grabbed the phone from Faith and
shoved it into his coat to show the police the evidence. Then he told the men
to bind Faith and the pilot to make sure that they wouldn't escape. There was a
hell of a lot of explaining to do when they reached the authorities.
~Epilogue~
[9 months later]
"I baptize you, Collin Rayne Morgan in the name of the
Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." said Father Coates
as he gently poured the water over the baby's head.
Courtney squeezed Jason's hand as she looked at him and
grinned. They stood beside the priest with godparents Carly and Sonny by their
side.
From the pews Mike, Bobbie with Morgan, Lucas, Michael,
Emily and Nikolas were all beaming up at the baby boy who had just been newly
christened. Sam had come back to PC to get Lila, while Sonny was in jail. She
and her baby now live in Canada.
Collin Rayne was now about a year old and such a cute baby.
He had dirty blonde hair, with Jason's eyes and Courtney's smile.
They were so happy and glad to have made it this far. Faith
was now in jail for life, for killing the lab technician. And if she ever got
out, she'd have to deal with Sonny. Jax was punished for breaking and entering,
and tampering with the paternity results. But he received a lesser punishment
along with community service since he was seen as a forced accomplice, in
court.
After the ceremony Father Coates handed Collin Rayne back to
his parents. They thanked God everyday for this little miracle as Courtney
kissed the top of her son's head. Jason wrapped his arm around Courtney and
cooed at his son tickling him under his chin, making him laugh. Michael was
snapping away pictures of everyone, being so happy to have a new little cousin.
Sonny started to laugh. This was still quite the sight to
see with Jason Morgan. It looked silly to him, but somehow seemed felt right.
"Alright, godparents getting lonely here" said
Carly as she took Collin from Courtney. Courtney laughed as she willingly
placed her baby into Carly's arm. Everyone then surrounded Carly while Jason
took Courtney's hand and led her away from the group.
"Jason we can't just...." Courtney began.
"It's okay baby, I just have to tell you something.
Collin will be fine," Jason said assuringly.
Courtney knew he was right and walked with him just a few
steps outside the little church. It was spring now, as they stood in the
beautiful garden.
"Okay Jason what was it, you wanted to tell me?"
Courtney asked curiously.
"Well I talked to Sonny about us going on
vacation...say the Cayman Islands, and he agreed. So I was wondering what you'd
think about that?"
Courtney broke into a huge smile and started babbling making
Jason laugh. "Oh my God I'd love it!! When are we leaving? How long would
we be gone? Collin's coming with us right? What about the founda..."
Courtney stopped as soon as Jason placed his lips onto hers.
When they broke apart Jason took Courtney's hands in his and kissed them too.
Jason smiled. "We're leaving tonight. We'd be gone for
about a year or however long you'd like it to be, Emily's agreed to take care
of your foundation, and of course Collin's coming with us. He's learning how to
walk now and we'd need someone to be the ring bearer...."
Courtney's heart skipped a beat as she heard Jason say this.
She had totally forgotten about marriage. They'd been through so much that it
always seemed like they had never been apart.
Jason got down on one knee and proposed, pouring out
everything he felt inside his heart.
Courtney nodded, tears falling as Jason stood up and
embraced her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and passionately kissed
Jason with all that she was.
Finally pulling apart they went back inside the church.
Carly handed Collin back to Courtney, while Jason and her told everyone the
good news. Carly nearly doubled over in happiness and everyone else happily
congratulated them.
Courtney held Collin with Jason's arm wrapped around them,
due to Michael's demand for a final picture. Jason and Courtney really had it
all now and they knew they'd always be together, forever and a day.
