Chapter
7
The next month had been wonderful for Courtney and Jason. They were
still taking things slow and Jason didn't want to rush Courtney back into her
old life. Things were going to be different now, and they weren't going to make
the same mistakes again.
When they told Carly and Sonny that they were back together, Carly
knocked over Jason and nearly hugged the life out of Courtney. Sonny was just
happy Courtney wasn't with that bastard Jax anymore. And of course he was happy
for his best friend.
Jason also moved back home, to the loft with Courtney. Courtney
secretly knew that Jason thought the penthouse was much safer, but he insisted
that they live at the loft.
~Jason's Penthouse~
"No Courtney we're going to live at the loft" said Jason
firmly as he continued to pack up some clothes in a small duffel bag.
"No, Jason I know you. You don't have to do this for
me..."sighed Courtney.
"But I want to" Jason answered as he dropped his things on
the bed and took Courtney in his arms. He looked into her eyes "We picked
that loft in the first place to be together. And that's what we're going to do.
Be together...for the rest of our lives."
Courtney's heart swelled up with love as Jason's lips brushed her
forehead. "Ok I can live with that" Courtney beamed looking up at
him. "But on two conditions."
"What?" asked Jason curiously. "You have to bullet proof
the windows and put security guards outside the doors." Jason was surprised
but couldn't help feeling happy. "You know, I'm beginning to like this
compromise thing" he said as he leaned down to give her a kiss.
"Yeah, me too" Courtney smiled as the kiss turned from sweet
and innocent to hungry and passionate.
Courtney suddenly found herself lying on the bed making out with Jason,
both resisting the urge to make love to each other right then and there.
"I'm sorry" Courtney breathed heavily.
"No I am" said Jason gasping. "Taking things slow, I
forgot."
"Well then" said Courtney standing up. "We should go
home so you can settle your things, then Carly wants us over for dinner."
"Sounds like a plan" said Jason as he grabbed the duffel bag and
followed her out the door.
~Later that night at Sonny's Penthouse~
After dinner, Courtney helped Carly put Michael, Morgan and Lila to bed
while Sonny and Jason discussed "business" downstairs.
"You sure we shouldn't help them, I mean, because, of Lila
and...."began Jason.
"Nah, don't worry about it" interrupted Sonny. "Yeah it
was kind of awkward for Carly at first but you can tell, Lila's growing on
her."
"Uhh that too, but I meant, it being kind of uncomfortable for
Courtney. You know with the whole Sam-used-to-live-over at my place thing"
said Jason.
"Oh right," stated Sonny, clearly not sure of what to say.
"Well Courtney's strong, she'll try to hide it . Just give her enough
space but be there for her when she needs it. Anyways you guys love each other
and Sam and you were NEVER in love. Just let her know that."
Jason stared thoughtfully for a moment, while Sonny accepted his
silence as an answer.
"By the way," said Sonny his voice toning darker. "I've
been declining to ask you for this, since you and Courtney just got back
together. I wouldn't have given the job to anyone else, but it's been a whole
month."
"Sonny, just say it" said Jason, painfully knowing what Sonny
was about to ask him.
"You remember that Nico bastard who tried to kill me? Remember
that Faith hired him? Now I want her dead."
Chapter
8
[Just to let you know, Jason and Courtney haven't slept together yet]
Courtney woke up the next morning with Jason's face nuzzled in her
neck. She still couldn't believe that she was his and relished in the feeling.
He had his arm wrapped around her waist and she smiled as she felt his hard
chest rise and fall.
Her head hurt a bit as she felt a migraine coming on, but that all went
away when Jason's lips awoke as she felt him on her neck. Her heart skipped a
beat as it always did when this happened. "Morning beautiful" he
smiled as he rested his hand on his head, looking down at her.
"I love you,” she said as she pulled him down for a sensual good
morning kiss.
"I love you more,” he said as he gave her a final kiss and got out
of bed.
"Jason, where are you going?" Courtney whined playfully,
hating the feeling of not having him next to her.
"Baby, as much as I don't want to you know I have to work
today" replied Jason as he got out some clothes and headed towards the
shower. He had to resist the temptation of asking Courtney to join him, but he
knew better.
"I understand" said Courtney sincerely. "I have some
work for the foundation to catch up on, anyways. But I was thinking we could do
something this evening. I-I mean-- like go out for dinner, or something"
Courtney covered quickly, slightly blushing.
"Oh I think we both want a little more than that," answered
Jason teasingly as he turned his head around smiling. "We could add in a
movie, maybe even dancing, or what about...,” he grinned inside at the hidden
meaning that Courtney quickly covered for.
"Just shut up" said Courtney jokingly as she threw a pillow
towards Jason accidentally hitting him in the behind.
Courtney burst out into laughter as Jason gave her the look.
"Oh, you will pay for that" he said in stern tone.
"Right after I take my shower, alone" he smiled as he closed the
bathroom door behind him.
~At Kelly's~
Courtney was sitting at a table alone trying to finish up her work;
despite the headaches she had been having that morning. Jason was off doing
work for Sonny and they had agreed on dinner and an at-home movie that night.
She couldn't wait.
She was staring hard, trying to concentrate on the numbers of the
financial portion of the work as she began to feel nauseous. The feeling had
been coming up for weeks now but she just brushed it aside, not wanting to
assume the worst.
The nausea grew when she heard the voice behind her and turned around.
"Hey sweetheart," Jax said as he pulled up a chair in front
of her.
"Jax not now," said Courtney focusing back on her work.
"Listen, I'm sorry for the argument we had and the way things
ended, and I just want to say I'm sorr..."Jax began.
Courtney interrupted. "Jax, you know Jason and I will always be
connected. I told you that even when we were going out, but I never realized
how much until I....until I. Look, never mind. The point is I..."
Now Jax interrupted. "Until what? Until you what? Courtney"
he demanded as the look on Courtney's face fell even lower.
Courtney sighed, wanting to come clean with the truth. "Until I
unexpectedly slept with Jason the night I heard you taunting Sonny and
then..."
"UNEXPECTEDLY?!?" yelled Jax. Y-You cheated on me while we
were still going out!!?" he stood up from his chair making a scene.
"Jax would you stop screaming" Courtney said as she knew that
explaining things would make matters worse. So she turned back down to her
work.
"Oh this is unbelievable!" stated Jax as he grabbed the
financial folders from her before she could protest. "We'll talk about
this later," he leaned down towards her. "And not as your
foundation's financial advisor." He got out and left.
Courtney waited a few minutes and then left, not wanting to feel all
the humiliation still present at Kelly's. The nausea had gotten worse, so she
turned the corner to the local drugstore knowing what she had to get.
~Later on at PH~
Courtney was pacing around the living room restless, waiting for the
last few minutes to be up.
She counted down the seconds as she went inside the bathroom and looked
at the home pregnancy test, falling to her knees as she read it.
"Oh. My. God." she whispered. "I'm pregnant."
