A Problem Between Friends
Courtney sat up, wiped her eyes, and looked around. She had slept in the bed of the loft again, as she had been for the past week. She looked through the shelves and saw Jason still on the couch, sleeping peacefully. She got out of bed and walked over to him. She watched him sleep for a while, thinking about how perfect he looked just lying there. He looked like a glorious angel to her. In fact, as she thought about it, he might as well have been her guardian angel. He had saved her from so much, mostly arguments with A.J. over whatever he was ranting about at the time. She traced a finger down the side of his face, and then watched as a content smile played across his lips. He opened his eyes and looked straight into hers. She smiled gently and leaned down to kiss him. He pulled her down further and deepened the kiss. When it did end a moment or so later, Courtney was left almost breathless. For a moment, they just laid there, staring into each other's eyes. All of a sudden, Jason's phone started to play the "M.A.S.H" theme-song (He changed it after he almost answered Courtney's phone that day in the loft.) They were both startled. Courtney looked over at it and pouted. Jason just sighed and got up to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Jason, where in the Hell are you?!?!"
"Sonny, calm down..."
"You have not been home since the arraignment, Jason. I want to know where the hell you've been. Carly's worried about you, Brenda has CandyBoy over way too much, and I have been leaving messages on your cell since last Friday!!!! Now, I'm gonna ask you this once more, and you had better give me a straight-up answer. Where have you been this past week?"
Jason sighed. He knew he couldn't lie to his best friend anymore. But he sure as hell wasn't going to tell Sonny anything without talking this over with Courtney first.
"Sonny, I will tell you everything, but not now, ok? Let me do that face to face."
"Fine. Come over for dinner tonight. We can discuss this afterwards."
"Ok. I'll be there around 7ish, k?"
"K"
"Alright, bye."
As Jason ended the call and set the phone down, Courtney walked over to him and said, "Now what does my big brother want?"
"He wants to know where I've been, and I have to tell him. But I wanted to discuss it with you before I told him anything."
"I knew this day would come eventually," she said as she sat down on the edge of the couch. "I was just hoping it wouldn't before this whole Alcazar thing was over. I know Sonny has way too much to worry about without us adding to that. Oh well. We have to face him together, Jason. And you're right, we can't lie to him anymore. We have to tell Sonny the truth."
"Oh, so does that mean you will also be joining the Corinthos family for dinner tonight, so that you can back me up and make sure that your over-protective brother doesn't shoot me?"
Courtney smiled, but she knew Jason could end up being right. After all, her brother wasn't exactly the most mild-tempered guy in Port Charles, and he might just do something like shoot his best friend to protect his little sister.
"Exactly."
