Chapter Six

Jason was up early the next morning and was just about heading out the door when Courtney came down.

"What are you doing up this early?" He asked.

"I heard you get up and I was too worried to go back to sleep. " Courtney said.

"There’s nothing to be worried about," Jason replied, "By tonight our daughter will be back in your arms."

Courtney sighed. "Yeah but what about you? Will you be here with us?" Courtney asked.

"I’ll do everything I can but right now I really have to go." Jason said.

Courtney walked over to him, took his face in her hands and looked him in the eyes. "I love you." She said, "Take care of yourself." He brought his lips down to hers and they kissed sweetly. Both not knowing if they would see each other again.

When the kiss finally ended Jason softly said, "I love you." And then headed out the door.

Courtney was left staring after him.

After Jason left the penthouse he went to the pier where he was supposed to meet Ric. Sonny was supposed to have everything set up so that after Ric told Jason where Mykayla was then they take Ric and hold him hostage until they checked on Ric’s information and if it proved to be true then they would allow him to go free. Of course the police statement that Jason signed would be taken and destroyed while Ric was a hostage so there would be no evidence that this had even happened.

Jason stood on the pier just waiting for Ric to arrive. Everyone was in place and now all they needed was Ric.

After a little while Jason saw Ric walking towards him. He was alone which was beneficial to their plan.

"So you’ve finally decided to go along with me." Ric sneered as he approached Jason.

"Yeah." Jason simply said.

"Good, well I’ve got the statement all done up all I need is your signature." Ric said.

"Okay, but before I sign I want to know where my daughter is." Jason replied.

"Your daughter was taken by Tracy Quartermaine." Ric stated.

"What on Earth would Tracy want my daughter." Jason demanded.

Ric smiled slightly. "Well she’s always been jealous of you and wanted pay back."

Jason looked at the man before him suspiciously. He knew that Tracy was manipulative but he also knew that she would never harm a child. There was something Ric wasn’t telling him.

"Ric, you know what. I don’t believe a word your saying." Jason stated. "Tracy would never deliberately take a child, an infant at that, away from it’s home."

"Well if you don’t believe me that’s your problem." Ric replied. "I’ve told you all I know and now you have to sign the papers.

Jason cautiously took the papers and signed them. He handed the pen and paper, back to Ric. "There you go."

"Thank-you kindly." Ric sneered. "You know what happens next. You are under the arrest for the attempted mur------"

Ric was cut short there for one of Sonny’s men had just come and knocked him over the head.

Jason helped drag Ric to a waiting car, where he would then be taken to one of the safe houses. After, Ric was in and the car had taken off Jason took out his phone and made a call to Sonny. "Hey Sonny, I just spoke with Ric and the plan is going good so far. I’m heading to the Quartermaine’s, Ric said Tracy took Mykayla." He shut the phone and headed over to the Quartermaine’s.

The big house was as normal as you would expect it to be in the early morning. Organized chaos around the breakfast table as everyone tried to grab something to eat and get out of there as quickly as possible. Of course there was constant bickering and chatter.

Jason heard this all from outside at the front door. He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell knowing what was about to come. Unfortunately Edward answered the door. When he saw who was waiting he looked at disbelief. "Jason, what brings you here this morning."

"It’s strictly business and I don’t have time to chat." Jason stated. "I need to speak with Tracy."

"Oh well she’s just in the dining room eating breakfast. Why don’t you come in?" Edward asked.

"Actually, it would be better if you could just ask her to come to the door." Jason responded knowing that Edward was doing everything possible to make him uncomfortable.

"I’ll just go get her." Edward said with a grin.

It wasn’t long before Tracy came out as hot and bothered as always. "What do you want? Goon." She demanded.

"Manners would be nice." Jason retorted.

"Oh a big hit man like yourself would like some manners." Tracy taunted.

"Let’s cut to the chase." Jason said. He looked around the room and then said. "Why don’t we step outside."

Once the door was shut he continued. " I don’t know if you know this, but two nights ago Mykayla was taken from Carly and Sonny’s penthouse. I received word that you had something to do with it. So do you know anything?"

"Are you suggesting I took her?" Tracy asked in disbelief. " I have done some horrible things in my life but I have never stolen a child. You’ve got the wrong person."

"That’s what I figured." Jason said. "But have you noticed anything suspicious around here lately. Like someone is trying to stay in the shadows."

Tracy waited a moment before speaking. "Well around here everyone tries to stay out of the way but come to think of it. AJ hasn’t been around for awhile. I mean he comes every once in a while but mostly it’s just to eat and then leave again."

Jason thought about this information for a moment and then spoke. "That makes sense. I mean, Courtney was once his wife and Michael is his son until Sonny took him away. He might think that stealing Mykayla would pay both of us back. Do you know where he’s currently working?" Jason asked.

Tracy shook her head. " I don’t even know if he has a job."

"Well ok, thanks for you help. Now I warn you Tracy if you are giving me false information just to get back at AJ I will hurt you."

"Hey you said it yourself. AJ does have serious motive to kidnap your daughter."

"Yeah. Thanks." Jason said and then took off in search of his brother
