CHAPTER 6
Sonny watched as the kiss went on and on, more and more passionate before he finally did something. He walked over to the door and slammed it shut again. They jumped and he yelled out, “What the hell is going on?”
Jason pulled back and looked over at him. Courtney watched as his face fell and he almost paled. She looked over and saw Sonny, almost shaking in anger.
“All right now, who…who is going to, uh, explain to me what the hell I just watched?” Sonny demanded. “Jason, out with it. NOW. Courtney, you need to leave,” he finished.
Courtney stood there, and rasied her hands and rested them on her hips. “Excuse me? First of all, this has as much to do with me as it does with Jason, so I’m not going anywhere,”
“Courtney,” Jason quietly warned her, not taking his eyes off of Sonny. Not quite able to take his eyes off of him in the state he was in.
“No Jason, I have to tell him this! Secondly, even though I am going to be living with you, I don’t think you have a right to know what goes on in my personal life, Sonny.”
He stood there, looking at the two of them silently. Courtney gave an exasperated sigh. “Sonny, please, listen…”
“Courtney, I will talk to you. Later. Right now I need to talk to Jason, and I need to talk with…I need to talk to him alone.”
“Go,” Jason said softy. He wasn’t ordering her out, he was dealing with the situation on hand, she knew that. Courtney didn’t even recognize the tone in Jason’s voice. The edge on it was almost…could it be? Fear? Fear of losing his trust with Sonny? Courtney shot her brother the most disgusted look she could muster and stormed out of Jason’s place and into the pent house.
Once Courtney left, Sonny groaned and rubbed his head. “Sit,” he said to Jason. He sat down on the couch, Sonny stood over him. “All right, Jason, would you care to, uh, explain this? I walk in to find, you, all over my sister?”
Jason looked down and rested his forehead on his fingertips. He shook his head and looked up at Sonny. “You know its not like that.”
“What do I know it’s like at all? She…she’s vulnerable, you know this. I put you in charge of, watching her, protecting her, Jason, and you end up taking advantage…”
Jason jumped up, “Dammit, it is NOT like that! I don’t know what the hell happened, but it happened. I can’t change that.”
“Well, you know, I could. I don’t want you with her, Jason. End of story.” Sonny turned to walk out.
“No.”
Everything came to a halt, even the air seemed to stop moving. Sonny turned around, looking in sheer disbelief at what just came out of jason’s mouth. “What did you say?”
“I said no, Sonny. I can’t promise you I can’t stay away from her. I don’t want to, and even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to. Sonny,” he stopped and slmmed his fists on the table. “Sonny you know me. You know I won’t hurt her, take advantage of her or anything else!”
“She vulnerable Jason. Maybe you’re the one who’s going to get hurt.” He said quietly. A thought began forming in Sonny’s head…but nah. Not Jason.
“Sonny, between you and me…something happened…long before AJ did this to her. Before we knew he was the stalker, before she shot Coleman. There are feelings there. I’m not rushing her, hell, I don’t want her to. She needs to recover from the wounds AJ made in her heart. But I want to be here through the whole thing with her. I want to be there when she feels like she can…love again.” He ended quiety.
Sonny tilted his head and watched him out of the corner of his eye. “Ok, how about this. You never proceeded in a relationship with Elizabeth because why? Oh, yeah, you told her it was your lifestyle. You didn’t want to subject her to it. Why then would you…why would you bring Courtney into it?”
Jason was quite for a moment. “Sonny, she’s in it with you whether she wants to or not. bBesides that, she’s stronger than Liz. She;s more sensible. More trusting and street smart. Hell, look at her mom.” Sonny nodded in agreement. “Anyway, what I felt for Liz is…nothing, a juvinille crush compared to this.”
Sonny looked at him, a grin starting to spread across his dimpled face. “You love her then.”
“What?” Jason looked over at him.
“Admit it, Jason. Ok, you have to be, you know, in love, to defy me like this. You love my sister.”
Jason sat back down and looked over at Sonny. “Hell, I’m still trying to figure out what love is, but yeah…I think I found it. Nothing is going to keep that away from me. And I’m sorry Sonny, not even you.”
Sonny walked over to him and patted him on the shoulder before he walked away. “So I assume I don’t need to assign any other of my men to watch out for her then? You’ve got that covered, and if you can’t protect her, no one can.” And walked out the door.
Jason leaned back into the couch and closed his eyes.

When Courtney stormed into the penthouse, Carly was walking in from the kitchen. “Hey Court, your room…” she started.
“What is wrong with your husband?” She demanded, stopping Carly in her tracks. She blinked at the fuming blonde. “Excuse me?”
“Sonny, he’s insane! He’s so controlling and demanding and if things are going to continue like this I might be better off living somewhere else! I can’t handle someone looking over my shoulder and dictating my every move…”
“Courtney, come over here. Sit. Tell me what he did this time.” She said, patting the couch she made her way over to. Courtney puffed an exasperated sigh out and sat down hard.
“He came barging into Jason’s, without even knocking...”
”Sonny never has before.”
“Well he should! And then he went off on us and ordered me out while he’s over there wailing into Jason about something that has as much to do with me as it does with him!” She cried out, dropping her face in her hands. “I’m just so frustrated!”
Carly looked at her, trying to make sense of what she just rambled out. “Courtney, why exactly did Sonny go off on you guys? What happened?” She had a feeling and tried to fight the grin growing on her lips.
Courtney began to blush slightly. “He just…um, he came in and…oh Carly, knock it off!” she said, almost a small smile coming out. “Fine, ok, yeah, he caught us kissing. Big whoop since you seem to think you already know!”
Carly got up and walked over to the brandy. “Brandy?” she asked and Courtney shook her head. She poured herself a generous amount and took a sip. “Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why did you kiss him?”
“That is the most absurd question I ever…”
“Courtney, ok, listen to me. I love Jason, like mad. He’s as close to me as my own flesh and blood. I want to know if you are kissing him to get back at AJ, or…”
“No! Never.”
“Ok then. Are you kissing him out of desperation?”
Courtney snorted. “I have never been desperate for any guy. I won’t go there.”
Carly smiled, liking her more and more. “Ok, then why? Do you like him? A whole lot? Do you love him?”
Courtney was quiet for a moment. She looked down at her hands and felt tears forming in her eyes. “Carly, I think I do. I mean, I know I do, with all my heart. He will always be there. But I’m almost scared to get into it. What if my love is deeper for him than his for me? I mean, I been there, done that with AJ.”
“Court, Jason is the complete opposite of AJ. He is as honest and true and AJ is deceitful and jealous. He wouldn’t bring you to the brink of falling in love without feelings being there too.”
Courtney felt her spirits begin to lift. “And Sonny? What about Sonny? He’s over there probably banning Jason from me forever.”
“Well, consider it a test that I know Jase will pass.”
Before Courtney could question it any further the door opened and Sonny swiftly walked into the room. Courtney glared over at him. He looked at her, almost sheepishly.
“Courtney, I, well, I apologize for putting you through that. Forget it ever happened, ok? It’s all, fine now. Ok.”
“What? You came in there with the devil on your hide and now you expect me to forget about this? Are you going to do this every time I’m over there?”
Sonny smiled out at his little sister, filled with such spunk. All he could think is Jason and how it’s going to be like for him. Being with someone so much like himself.
“Just what I said. It’s fine, take it for what it’s worth.”
“And Jason?”
“He’s over there waiting for you to come back. The door will be open when you decide to come home, here, and go to bed.”
Courtney looked over at Carly, who was smiling at her. She suddenly understood what she meant. Jason passed the test. He stood up to Sonny for her. For her. She smiled and got up and walked over to Jason’s apartment, her heart pounding in her throat.
CHAPTE 7
~*Time has passed, about two months. Courtney is still living with Sonny & Carly, working at Kelley’s. AJ hasn’t been around. She and Jason have a sweet little romance going on, never going any further that intense kisses, as he doesn’t want to push her into something she’s not ready for. This scene is after Courtney filed for divorse and it’s pending…*~
Courtney smiled and waved goodbye to the last customers at Kelley’s that evening and continued to scrub the counter. Every time she made blueberry pie for the place, it went quick, but stains that were left stubbornly behind weren’t so quick to wipe up. Suddenly the door opened and in walked the one person that even blueberry stains couldn’t stop her from smiling and stopping her work.
“Jason! Hi!” She said so happily she thought she would burst. She walked around the corner and wrapped her arms around him, smelling the leather and slight exhaust from his bike. The smell of comfort now.
He wrapped his arms around her also, lifted her off the floor and slightly swinging her around. She laughed outright and he did to. These past couple months have been nothing but new experiences for him. His jaw hurt from smiling so much all the time, but he couldn’t help it. He was just so darned happy with her. And he had something that would make her even happier.
When he finally put her down he tilted her chin up and their lips met again. Every time they kissed it was like tasting a little piece of heaven. He loved to run his fingers through her long blonde tresses and she loved the feeling of his body next to hers. They both had the same feelings running trough their heads - thank you for this.
The jukebox went over to the next song, a Bon Jovi song. It rang out throughout the empty diner as the two of them embraced.
It's hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There's no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
We'll leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words when I
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Courtney looked up at Jason, deep into his eyes and smiled.
“I have something for you,” he said with a grin as big as he could muster. She gave out a laugh, “Oh yeah? And what would that be?”
He reached into his coat and pulled out a small rose. “Ohhh, Jase,” she said, bring it up for a quick sniff of the delicious scent. When she looked up her was handing her and envelope. She looked at his with a sideways glance. “This isn’t like one of those weird things, when people are going to jump out and say ‘you’re on candid camera!’ or anything is it?”
He laughed, “No! Why would you think that?”
“I just have a feeling.” She said as she opened the envelope. She took out the piece of paper and gasped. “Oh my God Jason!! Oh my God!” He smiled and she leapt into his arms again. “It’s finally over! My divorce is final! Oh thank you for bringing me this!” She exclaimed, kissing him again and again. When she finally stopped she was laughing and crying, tears pouring out of her eyes. “It just feels so good to have all ties severed from him,” she said, wiping her eyes.
Jason smiled and kissed the top of her head and wiped a tear away. “Finish up here and we’ll go and celebrate,” he said. She nodded and he gave her one more kiss on her cheek, where the tear used to be. That was another thing he couldn’t get enough of - kissing her.
He sat back and watched her busy around the little diner, wiping this, scrubbing that. He watched her bend over to pick up a fallen fork and leaned over to get a better view of her cute little behind, and she caught him. Laughing she tossed her rag at his head and he ducked to avoid it but it slopped him upside the head. He laughed and held it out to her. She walked over to gather it from him and he put his hands on her hips and lifted her up so she was sitting on his lap, facing him. She giggled a bit, and he began to nuzzle at her neck. She tilted her head back and the nuzzles turned to kisses, tracing the delicate outline of her face. His hands pressed on the small of her back as his kisses lead to the front of her neck, and he went down to where the last button on her shirt was unbuttoned. Both their bodies ached for more, and longed to join with one another. And Courtney knew that tonight was the night. She was ready, in her mind and her heart. Jason’s lips met hers again and he pressed her back again, making her rise up over him and their kisses devoured each other.
Outside in the dark, stood a lonely drunken man, watching his ex-wife through the window. Neither of them noticed, nor did they notice when he walked away in a fit of rage. They only thing on their mind was each other. Jason tried to concentrate on getting the buttons on the front of her shirt undone, but his mind was also soaking in every taste and every feel of those kisses. She had never kissed him like this before, so needing, so wanting. Once the last button of her shirt was done, he stopping kissing her and opened his eyes and the beautiful sight before him. She was there, chest heaving with her panting breath, wearing a thin cream colored bra. He sat there, his eyes wandering over the beautiful creature in front of him, wanting to remember everything about this 100 years from now.
“Jason,” she moaned coming in for more kisses which he gladly returned. His hands roamed up and down her bare back until the made their way around to the front where the embraced her, and his lips made his way down. “Jason, the backroom,” she managed to squeeze out and he nodded. He picked her up, and carried her into the back room while smothering her in kisses. He laid her down on the black couch in Bobbie’s office and climbed on top of her.
“I love you,” he whispered into her ear, feeling like a new man after finally confessing to her what has been burning in his heart forever. “Jason, I love you too” she said looking deep into his blue eyes. And they continued into the night as their two bodies transformed into one.

An hour later, they were still laying there, entangled in each others arms and legs. He was brushing through her hair, and she was listening to his heart pounding in his chest. Jason turned his head toward her and she looked up at him. “I love you, Courtney.” He said, and smiled. “It feels so good to say that now,” he said. She smiled so radiant that his breath was almost knocked from him. “Oh Jason, I love you too. Just so much that it almost hurts.” He smiled and hugged her close to him. “But, um, I think we should probably get out of Bobbie’s office,” she giggled. He looked around, remember where they were. “Oh geez, yeah,” he laughed as they scrambled to gather their clothes. It was tossed and thrown about. Only one article of clothing remained missing in action…one of Jason’s socks.
“Well, I’ll think of something to tell Bobbie if it ever shows up,” Courtney laughed as she locked the door behind them as they walked out.
“I may never be able to come here again,” he teased, smiling at her. “Come on, let’s go for a ride.” He said, climbing on his bike. He passed her the extra helmet and she slipped it on. She mounted the bike and wrapped her arms around him as they took off. The wind whipping her hair that hung from the helmet, and the pure speed of the bike made her already happy mood ten times more exhilarating. She squeezed her arms around Jason and rested her head on his back. Jason smiled, never so content in all his life.
From behind a bush rolled an empty rum bottle. AJ sat there, brooding. Brooding what could possible be done to get back the woman he loved. He had to have her. He HAD to, no matter what the cost.
