Summary: Jason and Courtney have found a love of a lifetime, but there are people who want to make sure it doesn't last. With all the good times that come bad ones are soon to follow. Ric is out to get them along with his mystery partner. Will Jason and Courtney survive and prove that their love is truly a love of a lifetime?

Background: The story begins right after Sonny rescues Courtney from Ric at Martha's Vineyard just befor the mineshaft collapses. They are on a plane back to Port Charles where Jason and Carly are waiting for them. The past will be the same. I might bring in the past we have never heard of about Courtney, but not at this time. The story will probably not follow the same line as the one on the show. *Ric got away after Sonny found out he was his brother. Ric plans on staying away from Port Charles until the timing is right for his revenge *once again*

*Port Charles Airport*
Jason was so worried about Courtney. Sonny said she was okay. That she had been knocked out for a minute, but she was fine. Jason had to see her for himself.


"Jase, calm down. Sonny said she was okay," Carly said trying to calm him down.
"I know, but it's my fault she was even there. I couldn't stop him from taking her," Jason said.

*On the Plane*


Sonny watched his little sister sleep on the plane. He hadn't gotten the chance to really know his sister. He really only knew what Carly had said that they were both alike in ways, but neither of them wanted to see that. The plane was set to land in Port Charles in less that an hour so Sonny decided to wake Courtney up.


"Courtney, wake up. I want to talk to you," Sonny said nudging her until she woke up.
"I'm up. I'm up! Are we home yet? Or did you decide to take me to Kansas? So I would be 'safe'" Courtney said sarcasticly.


Sonny saw how tired and weak his little sister looked. He couldn't blame her for how she was feeling. He could only now try to make things better.


"Courtney, we are headed home. We should be home in less than an hour," Sonny said.
"Am I getting a lecture?" Courtney asked thinking she would be.
"No," Sonny said.
Courtney let out a small laugh, "Well, good," Courtney said.


Sonny took a deep breath, "I'm sorry about so much, Courtney," Sonny started, "I want us to be close, but I was just afraid I would end up destroying you. I didn't want that to happen to you."


Tears began to fill in his eyes. Sonny seemed to be opening up to her. Courtney had never seen this side of Sonny.


"Sonny you've made choices in your life good and bad, but you don't destroy everyone you touch. You haven't Carly or Michael or Jason or me," Courtney said.
"Sonny, I want to be your sister, but most of all I want you to be okay with me seeing Jason. Not just for Jason, but for me too," Courtney said with tears in her eyes.


Sonny sat there trying not to cry. This was their first real brother/sister moment.
"But if you want Sonny, I'll go back to AJ," Courtney said with a little laugh soon followed by Sonny's laughed.
"I know you love him and he loves you. I think a part of me was jealous that Jason was there for you when I couldn't be," Sonny said.


"Sonny, when you were 'dead' I needed my brother, but you were gone. I missed you so much. Jason was a friend and him being around help me believe I was closer to you. And I never meant to put your family in danger by loving Jason," Courtney said.


"You never did Courtney and it's 'our family'." Sonny said making Courtney very happy inside she could feel the tears well up inside.
"Sonny, thanks for saving my life," Courtney said .
"Thanks for saving mine," Sonny said, "after everything I put you through who would have blamed you if you let him kill me." Sonny said a little seriously.
"I would have. Sonny, you are my brother and I saw in you what Carly and Jason have been telling me was there all along. Sonny you are my overprotective, controlling, frustrating, older brother and I love you," Courtney said now with a couple tears falling.
"I love you too, Courtney," Sonny said trying to hide his tears, but he couldn't. They both leaned over and gave each other a hug.


They both just sat there for a minute hugging each other. "Courtney," Sonny said as they both pulled away. "Huh?" Courtney asked. "I'm okay with it," Sonny said, "I'm okay with you and Jason together. You both make each other happy and are in love. Also, I'll work on knocking, too,"Sonny said making Courtney laugh. "thanks Sonny," Courtney said and gave Sonny another hug as tears were falling.


"We will land in Port Charles in 10 minutes," the pilot said over the P.A., "Please fasten your seatbelts."

*Airport*
"Jason, it's not your fault," Carly said
"There's the plane," Jason said as it hit the run way.
"Thank God," Carly said, "it's over," Carly finished.


The plane door opened and Sonny walked out with Courtney holding onto him. Jason and Carly both headed toward the plane. Sonny wrapped his jacket around Courtney's shoulders. Jason and Carly noticed that they looked closer now. They took the last step off the plane Courtney ran over to Jason and without saying a word he kissed her passionately. He was so happy to see her. Tears were stinging at both their eyes as they continued to kiss. Carly noticed how Sonny did not seem one bit upset at this display.

"Sonny, are you okay with this?" Carly asked.
"I am, they both deserve the love and happiness that they bring each other. I am happy that my little sister and best friend are in love. If they found it in each other. Who should complain?" Sonny said as Carly wrapped her arms around him. "I'm proud of you," Carly said.


Carly looked at her two her best friends and saw the happiness they had with each other. She had to wipe away the tears that were flowing. "what's wrong, sweetie?" Sonny asked. "They're so happy and these damned hormones,"She said wiping her eyes.


"Hey, you two take a breather and that's an order," Sonny said as they all started to laugh. "I'm sorry, Jason. I should have never made you try to give up Courtney. I was wrong. I'm glad that the person she loves is you. I'm glad the one you love is her," Sonny said as the two mean hugged and so did Carly and Courtney. "Glad, you're okay. How'd you convince him?" Carly asked. "I let him lived," Courtney said laughing and Sonny was soon to follow. Jason and Carly didn't understand, but it didn't matter they were both glad that the two were getting along. Courtney began to cough a little.


"You okay?" jason asked.
"Yeah, can we just go home?" Courtney asked.
"Sure," Jason said.
The four of them began to leave the airport heading to the car, but before they could make it to the car Courtney collapsed.

*Love of a Lifetime-Chapter 2-Worry*

Jason caught Courtney before she was able to hit the ground. "MARCO HURRY!" Sonny yelled at him who then began to run toward the car. Jason picked Courtney up and was carrying her to the car. Sonny and Carly weren't too far behind. As soon as they were all in Marco took off. "Courtney sweetie, wake up," Jason said holding on to her. "Jase, her lips look blue," Carly said just as Jason had noticed them too. "She's not breathing," Jason said as he began to give her mouth to mouth. Tears were stinging in Jason's eyes. Carly and Sonny looked on both worried out of their mind. Tears stung at Carly eyes worried for her two best friends.


*Hour Later*
Jason was able to get Courtney breathing just before they got to General Hospital. Jason was pacing back and forth. Jason had to focus on something else. "Where's Ric?" Jason asked. "He got away. I went to get Courtney before the mineshaft collapsed. Before that he told me I was his brother," Sonny said taking their mind off of Courtney for a second, but the focus was there again when Monica walked out of her room. "We're still doing a few more tests and right now its not good, but it can get better," Monica said. Those words stung Jason's heart. "There's one test we got back you might what to know about," Monica said. "What's that?" Jason asked. "Courtney is a little over a month pregnant," Monica said shocking the three adults. "Can I see her?" Jason managed to get out. "Sure," Monica said leading Jason into the room.


Monica walked out only a minute later. Sonny's mind was filled with worry. "Monica how is she really?" Sonny asked. "To tell the truth not very good. All the dust in her lungs and that bump on her head are just not good," she said. "What's that mean?" he asked. "Just she needs to wake up. The sooner the better,"Monica said then excused herself.

Sonny worried that the bonding him and Courtney began to do might have been too late. He couldn't lose his little sister not now.


"Daddy! Mommy!" Michael came running up to them. Carly had forgot Michael had a doctors check up today.
"Why are you sad, Daddy?" Michael asked. Sonny kneeled down to Michael and just as he was about to tell her the door to Courtney's room swang open and out came a nurse. Michael saw his Aunt Courtney and Uncle Jason in the room.


"What's wrong with Aunt Courtney?" Michael asked. Sonny looked at his son trying not to cry. "She's been hurt and she's sleeping to get better," Sonny said "Will she be okay?" Michael asked. Sonny couldn't speak. "We don't know, sweeti," Carly said to him. "When will she wake up?" Michael asked. "We don't know that either," Carly said to him. "Is Uncle Jason sad because he loves Aunt Courtney and wants her to be better?" Michael asked. "Yes, Michael. Uncle jason and Aunt Courtney love each other just like me and your mommy love each other," Sonny said to Michael. "Can I see Aunt Courtney?" Michael asked. "Yeah, come on in buddy," Jason said holding the door for him. "You know your Aunt Courtney loves you very much,"Jason said to Michael. "I love her too. She loves you very much too Uncle Jason," Michael said.


Jason sat Michael on his lap and they sat there in silence before Michael spoke. "Are you and Aunt Courtney going to get married?" the little boy asked. "I hope so,"Jason said. "And have cousins I can play with?" Michael asked. "We will. Actually right now, your Aunt Courtney is gonna have a baby," Jason said to him. "When around the same time that you will be getting your little brother or sister," Jason said.



"Uncle Jason," Michael said. "Yeah, buddy," "I want Aunt Courtney to be okay. I don't want you, or Mommy, or Daddy to be sad anymore," Michael said. "Me too," Jason said hugging his nephew trying to hold the tears, but he couldn't they just kept coming. Carly came in and grabbed Michael so Jason could be alone with Courtney.


As soon as Carly and Michael left jason grabbed one of Courtney's hand and squeezed it lightly. "Court, be strong. Please be strong. I love you. I don't want to try to live my life without you ever again," Jason said continuing to cry as he laid his head down on the bed tears still coming.


"I love you Courtney. I want us to be forever," he said holding no tears back. Jason knew without a doubt the girl fighting for her life and their child's life was his love of a lifetime and couldn't imagine her gone.

Love of a Lifetime~Chapter 3-We're Having a Baby*

*Next Day*
Sonny walked into Courtney's room. She still hadn't woken up. He noticed Jason asleep in the chair next to her bed. He had been there all night long by her side.


Sonny took Carly home last night so she could get some rest, but he couldn't
sleep so he had come back to the hospital hoping that she would be awake when he got there, but that wasn't the case. Sonny wanted a chance to really be in his little sister's life.


Sonny walked over to the side of the bed Jason wasn't on and very quietly took his sister's hand squeezing it lightly then and let out a few words quietly.
"Courtney, hey it's your overprotective brother. You know how hard it is for me to admit I was wrong about something or reason with anyone. I was wrong about you, Courtney. You aren't that spoiled brat I thought you were. You are a fighter. I see it in you. You better be okay. As much as I hate to admit I need anything. I need my little sister here. Mainly so Carly will have someone to talk to and not do crazy things. Also, I want to see my best friend happy and you do that. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love and the unborn child. Also, having another kid around with Corinthos blood would be good," Sonny said letting some tears fall from his face.


"Sonny, she'll be okay," Jason said startling Sonny.
"I didn't realize you were awake," Sonny said to Jason as he wiped the tears from his face.
"I woke up just a minute ago. You took Carly home to sleep right?" Jason asked. He didn't want Carly here wearing herself out since she was pregnant too.
"After she argued with me for five minutes I did. I shouldn't have been so upset with you and Courtney together," Sonny said to Jason.
"Yeah, but I couldn't protect her from this," Jason said feeling guilty for Courtney laying there fighting for her life.


"It wasn't your fault. This was about me. I let Ric in. He was able to get to my sister," Sonny said still mad thinking about what had happened in Martha's Vineyard.


*Flashback*
Sonny was in the mineshaft with Ric holding a gun on him. Ric had knocked Courtney to the ground. Sonny's gun had been knocked out of his hand and had no idea where it was. Courtney got up quietly.
"Not, so fast Courtney," Ric said turning to see her up. "Leave her alone Ric. This is between you and me," Sonny said hoping Ric would listen.
"Courtney, don't you want to help me. Finally, you'd be able to have Jason without worry of your brother trying to ruin it," Ric said.
"Maybe you are right Ric, but there's just one thing that keeps me from joining your side," Courtney said.
"What's that Courtney?" Ric asked looking at her.
"He's my brother. No matter how much he tries to run my life I know that he loves me. I could never do what you ask because I love my brother despite himself and myself," Courtney said.
*End of flashback*


"It's no ones fault, but Ric's," Carly said walking into the room.
"What are you doing here?" Sonny asked.
"I'm here to see my sister-in-law," Carly said.
"You should be resting Carly," Jason said.
"Well, after Michael left for school I was going crazy. He was so upset. I thought if I came here maybe she'd be awake and I could tell him she's okay," Carly said with a tear falling from her eyes.

"She's gonna be okay, Carly. She didn't fight as hard as she did for us just to leave me like this," Jason said holding the tears in.
Carly walked over to Sonny and took a seat on his lap. They just sat there in silence. Jason was thinking of how she fought for him when he was being stubborn and staying away. She fought hard. He knew deep down that she would fight to have this love. They were sitting there in silence when they were disturbed by someone opening the door. It was Liz.


"What the hell did you do to Ric?" she came him screaming no respect for Courtney laying in the bed.
Jason looked up to see her. The anger he felt at the moment he didn't know how he could hold it in.
"Get the Hell out of here Elizabeth!" Jason said in a loud voice.
"Not until you tell me where he is," Liz said.
Sonny got up from the seat. "Only family is allowed in here. You aren't family. Ric is gone anyway. I didn't kill him. He got away because I was to busy worrying about someone who mattered to me, my sister. Don't you dare come here again and disrespect my sister like this," Sonny said showing Liz the door.


Sonny went back to sit down in the chair. They continued watching Courtney in silence praying that she would be okay. About 15 minutes after Liz had left Jason had fallen asleep in the chair


*Dream*
Jason at first didn't realize where he was at until he saw Sonny next to him and Michael walking toward him followed by Carly. He was in a tux and so was Sonny and Michael. It was his wedding. The wedding march began he looked toward the end of the aisle where Courtney stood in this gorgeous wedding dress. She took his breath away. She grabbed onto Mike's arm as they prepared to walk down the aisle. She finally made it to Jason. He looked at her barely being able to speak as a tear rolled down his cheek. "I love you, Courtney. You look beautiful," Jason told her. "I love you, too, Jason," she said leaning to kiss him, but before she could a shot went off. Courtney feel to the ground. Jason looked at her with blood beginning to show on her dress he fell to the ground next to her on his knees.
"Courtney, don't leave. Please don't leave me!" Jason yelled.
*End of dream*


"Don't leave me, Courtney! I love you!" Jason screamed from his sleep.
"Jase, wake up," he felt someone nudging at him it was Carly.
"How long had I been asleep?" Jason asked her.
"About an hour," Carly said, "bad dream?" she questioned.


"Yeah, I dreamed that it was mine and Courtney's Wedding Day. Me, Sonny, and Michael were in tuxes. You were in this light purple dress walking down the aisle with flowers. So I guess you were part of the ceremony, bridesmaid or something. Then Courtney walked toward me escorted by Mike in this beautiful wedding dress. She took my breath away she was so gorgeous. I told her I loved her and how beautiful she was. She told be she loved me and we were about to kiss when someone fired a gun and she got shot and died in my arms," Jason said to both Carly and Sonny who had just walked back into the room when Jason started telling Carly about his dream.

Carly tried to think of something that would lighten the mood.
"Don't worry, Jase that won't happen. I'd never let Courtney put me in light purple," she said smiling at him. That put a small smile on his face.
"Thanks," he said jokingly.


Monica stepped into the room that the three had been sitting so nervously in for the past hour knowing that she had more tests done.
"How is she doing?" Jason asked as Monica entered.
"Better. Her vitals look good and everything. She should wake up at any time now," Monica said.


Jason looked at her and knew there was more. "Is something wrong with the baby?" Jason asked scared about their son or daughter was carrying inside of her.
"Not necessarily. We really need to do an ultrasound to determine," Monica said.
Jason took a deep breath. He felt a little better, but still uneasy about his daughter or son.


"Thank you, Monica," Sonny said.
"I'll be back in about an hour to check on her," Monica said turning to walk out of her room.


Jason sat back down next to Courtney he grabbed her hand and squeezed it lightly. Courtney squeezed to back. Carly and Sonny watched as this happened tears slowly rolling down their faces.


Jason felt a tear fall from his face as he felt the squeeze of her hand. Courtney slowly opened her eyes.
"Jason," Courtney was able to get out her throat sore and dry.
"Courtney," Jason said barely believing it. He let tears fall from his face.
"Don't you ever do that to me again," Jason kissing her forehead.
"I won't," she let out.
"Yeah, you better listen to him, Courtney," Carly said looking at her friend.
"Carly, you should be home resting for the baby," Courtney said.


Carly laughed at the remark, "And you say you are nothing like your brother. I went home last night and got here this morning. Jason was here all night and Sonny basically was too except to take me home," Carly told Courtney said sitting next to her.


"No wonder you two look tired," Courtney said.
"Don't worry Courtney about us you need to rest. You are the one in the hospital," Sonny said.
"Okay, but Carly's pregnant and I'm not so I can worry about my niece or nephew," Courtney said.


The three of them realized she had no idea that she was pregnant.
"Courtney, um you're.." Jason said, but before he could speak Monica walked back in.


"I heard you were awake. I am having Dr. Meadows paged so she can come down here and do an ultrasound," Monica said.
Courtney recognized as Carly's OBGYN and didn't know why she would be coming down here.


"What?" Courtney questioned Monica.
"I thought they told you," Monica said.
"I was about to," Jason said.
"Tell me what," Courtney said looking at Jason.
"We're having a baby," Jason told her. That was the first time he said those words and tears of joy stung both of their eyes.
"We are?" Courtney questioned.
"We are," Jason said.


Courtney couldn't believe it as tears fell from her eyes onto her cheeks. She was so happy. She knew Jason would be the best father in the world to their son or daughter, but she was scared too that she wasn't ready. Jason leaned in to kiss her and she let him.


Courtney knew the love she had with Jason was a love of a lifetime and to make it even better their love created another life. Nothing or no one could ruin their happiness or that's at least what she thought...
