Chapter10
The next day
Courtney galloped down the stairs. She stopped in her tracks when she reached the bottom.
Sonny stood up to greet her, “Courtney.”
Courtney smiled, straining to remember. She thought about what Jason said about not trying to remember, but it was hard not to. Here in front of her was her brother who cared about her, and she knew nothing about him.
“I can go, if you want.” Sonny offered noticing her discomfort.
“No.” Courtney was surprised at how quickly she answered. “I could use some company.” She smiled at Sonny as she sat down on the couch. He joined her.
“How’s Courtney?” Carly looked at Jason sitting beside her on the couch.
“She doesn’t remember much, but it’ll come in time.”
“At least you hope.” Carly stated reading Jason’s mind.
“Where is Sonny?” Jason asked changing the subject.
“Well, he said that he had some business, then he was going to find you.”
“Were you going to mention that to me?” Jason asked as he stood up, preparing to leave.
Carly just shrugged as Jason walked out the door and across the hall. When he walked into the penthouse, he couldn’t help but be surprised at the sight in front of him. Courtney and Sonny sat on the couch, both smiling and laughing hysterically.
Jason shut the door, grabbing their attention. “Hey Jason.” Sonny smiled at him.
“What’s going on?”
Courtney’s smile grew even brighter, “We were talking, and…I remember! Well, Sonny and Carly any way. We were just reliving a few memories.”
“Are there any funny ones?”
Sonny grinned ignoring Jason’s remark. “This has got to be record time for recovering from amnesia.”
“I don’t remember anything from the accident Jason, if that’s what you are worried about.” Courtney said reading Jason’s _expression.
“Right now that doesn’t matter. You remembered your family. That’s what you wanted.”
“Yea, but it would be nice if I knew what happened.”
“If I were you, I wouldn’t even try and think about it right now.” Sonny wrapped his arm around his sister’s shoulder. “Do you want to tell Carly the good news, or shall I?”
“I think I can do that.” Courtney smiled as she got off the couch, and practically skipped across the hall.
“She remembers, Jase.” Jason nodded, smiling at Sonny. “So are you ready?”
Jason nodded again.
Chapter 11
The next week
Courtney was slowly getting her memory back. It seemed that every day she would remember something else, but nothing seemed to come to her about the accident. Courtney was more frequently helping Carly at the club, and everyone was slowly getting used to the idea that she was alive.
Courtney and Carly stood in the elevator, both extremely tired from the day of shopping. When the doors opened to their floor, they said their good-byes, and split up. Carly came running into the penthouse to find Sonny sitting on the couch. “So?” Carly asked as she dropped her shopping bags on the floor.
Sonny smiled. The smile told Carly everything that she needed to know.
Courtney walked into a dark apartment. “Jason?” She called out into the darkness. She reached for the light switch, and flipped it on. She gasped. “Jason?” He was infront of her, on one knee.
“Will you marry me?”
“Okay, Jason, do you actually realize what you are doing?”
“Yea.” He slowly stood up, and walked to her. He pulled a box out of his jacket pocket, and opened it revealing a simple gold band with a small pear shaped diamond.
“Oh, god.”
Jason smiled down at her, “So, will you?”
Courtney grinned, “Yes.” Jason’s smile grew as he slipped the ring on her finger. She gazed at the ring, and then let her eyes drift up to Jason’s. She squealed as she threw her arms around his neck. He pulled her close to him, happier then he could remember being in a long time.
