Chapter14
There was a knock on the door. “Come in.” Courtney sat on the bed still in her pajamas, her wet hair wrapped up in a towel.
Carly came into the bedroom holding multiple bags of makeup and two dresses. “Get up!” Carly demanded as she carefully hung both hers and Courtney’s dresses on the back of the door. “It’s makeup time.”
Courtney forced herself out of the bed and in front of the mirror. She had stayed at Sonny and Carly’s the night before after Carly insisted that they had to follow the tradition, that Jason couldn’t see Courtney before the wedding.
“It’s okay to be really nervous, right?” Courtney asked as she fidgeted with the ring on her finger.
“Of course it is.” Carly smiled, reassuring her. “You’re getting married for god’s sake!”
“I do love him.”
“You better hope you do.” Carly teased. “Okay, stop delaying; I’m going to out on your makeup now.”
“Carly, the wedding is at two o’clock. We have six hours.”
“That gives us just enough time.”
“You can not be serious.”
“You wish.” Carly smiled as she pulled some blush out of one of her bags. “Plus, we WILL have to reapply before the ceremony.”
Courtney groaned, but stood still as Carly began applying the makeup.
Half an hour later
Michael came running into his parent’s bedroom. He hopped onto the bed, next to his still sleeping father. “Dad! Wake up!” Michael began jumping on the bed in an attempt to awake him.
Sonny groaned, but sat up none the less. “What is it? Are you alright?”
“Yea.” Michael stopped jumping.
“Then why did you wake me up?”
“Aunt Courtney and Uncle Jason are getting married today!” Michael squealed obviously excited about the event, “And I’m caring the rings!”
Sonny rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, still trying to wake up. “I guess we had better head over to your Uncle’s then. We need to get to the church. Why don’t you go get changed, then meet me downstairs.”
Michael nodded, jumped off the bed, and ran out of the room.
When Sonny made it downstairs, he saw Michael waiting on the couch with Marco, who was already in his tux. “Okay, you ready?” Michael was wearing a pair of jeans, and a dinosaur shirt. Sonny had on his usual suit. Marco, Max, and Johnny were all groomsmen, but only Marco had showed up yet.
“I’ll stay here and make sure that Carly and Courtney get to the church alright.”
“That may be awhile. I know Carly, and she will take forever getting Courtney ready.”
Marco picked up a magazine laying facedown on the table, “I’ll just read…” he flipped it over, revealing the cover, “Vogue.”
Sonny laughed. “Have fun with that Marco.”
“Thanks.” Marco sarcastically said as he started flipping through the magazine.
Sonny and Michael went across the hall and walked in without knocking, “Jason?” Sonny called out. Jason came galloping down the stairs, wearing only his boxers and a t-shirt.
“Yea?” Jason looked completely frazzled.
“We need to be at the church in about an hour so we can make sure everything is set up.”
“Damn it, I still need to take a shower.”
“Who cares if you smell?” Sonny tried joking, but by the look on Jason’s face, he could tell that Jason didn’t appreciate it. “Kidding, go take the shower. Michael and I will get ready and come back in an hour.”
Jason nodded, and began to go back upstairs, but Sonny stopped him, “Dude, calm down. You’re getting married to the woman you love, just think about that, the details are up to me.” Jason gave Sonny a small smile, letting him know he had relaxed, somewhat.
Sonny and Michael came back into the penthouse. “That was fast.” Marco sat down the magazine.
“Find anything interesting?” Sonny gestured towards the it.
“Yea, people wear some crazy ass clothes.” Sonny laughed as he pulled Michael up the stairs behind him.
“Okay, Michael, I’m going to take a shower, why don’t you go play for awhile.”
“Okay.” Michael ran off to his room.
Before Sonny got in the shower, he decided to see how Courtney and Carly were doing. He opened the door to find them sitting in front of the mirror, Carly applying mascara to Courtney’s lashes. “How’s it going in here?”
“Out!” Carly snapped never taking her eyes off what she was doing.
“Whoa, wait, Carly.” Courtney pushed Carly’s hand away from her face so that she could get up and talk to Sonny. “Sonny, I’m sorry that I didn’t ask you this before, it’s just that it didn’t come to mind until recently, but…” Courtney cut off, hesitating.
“What is it?” Sonny asked, concerned.
“Well, I…Sonny, would you walk me down the isle?”
Sonny couldn’t believe that she was asking him this. “Of course.”
“You will?”
“You thought I’d say no?” Sonny asked in disbelief. He pulled Courtney into a hug, then went to kiss her on the cheek, but Carly quickly pushed him away.
“No way buster.”
“Buster?” Sonny laughed.
“Do not mess up her make up.” Sonny shook his head, trying to suppress his laughter. “Oh, so you think this is funny?” Carly demanded.
“Actually, yea I do.” Carly glared at him, but turned her attention to Courtney when she suddenly broke out in fits of laughter. Carly couldn’t help but smile also. “Bye Courtney and good luck.”
“With what, the wedding or dealing with Carly?”
“Both.” Carly playfully hit Sonny on the chest, and pushed him out the door.
Chapter 15
Sonny and Michael once again walked into Jason’s penthouse an hour later. They were now both wearing tuxedos. “Jason?” Sonny called out.
Jason came down the stairs, still not wearing his tux. “Why aren’t you changed?”
“I haven’t gotten there yet. Has it already been an hour?”
“Yea.” Sonny rolled his eyes and led Michael out of the apartment once again. They walked back into PH4. Sonny left Michael with Marco, as he walked into the bedroom Courtney and Carly were in. “Carly, Jason needs you.”
“Carly looked at Sonny and rolled her eyes. “Jeez, everybody asks for Carly.”
“Just for the record, I didn’t ASK. You more like demanded.”
“You know you need me.” Carly joked. “I’ll be right back. Don’t touch anything.” Carly left the room, leaving Sonny and Courtney alone. She rushed across the hall. “Jase?” She yelled as she ran up the stairs.
He peeked his head out of the bedroom, “What are you doing here Carly?”
“Sonny said you needed me.”
“He lied.”
“Jason, why aren’t you changed?”
“I was getting there.”
“I’m not leaving until I see you in that tux.”
Jason nodded, and shut the door to his bedroom. Carly waited patiently for three minutes until Jason finally walked out of the bedroom wearing a black tuxedo. “You look great.” Carly smiled. “Now, I need to go get your bride to be ready. I’ll send Sonny over, and I’ll see you at the church in a couple of hours. Carly once again headed across the hall. By now, Max was there also. Sonny, he’s ready. Go.” Carly ordered as she walked up the stairs. Sonny, Michael, and Max walked across the hall with Sonny muttering, “back and forth, back and forth.”
Carly walked into the bedroom to find Emily had arrived. Emily was not wearing her dress yet, but she had on all her makeup. “Hey, Carly.”
“How are you Em?”
“Pretty good, and yourself?”
Carly laughed, “My sister-in-law is getting married to my best friend, I couldn’t be happier.”
Emily smiled sharing her happiness. Her brother was finally letting himself be happy, with one of her best friends none the less. Carly sat back down in front of Courtney and continued to apply her makeup.
“Carly.” Courtney groaned. “You have been putting makeup on me for an hour and a half, maybe more. Why do you hate me?”
“I just want you to look perfect.”
“And you will.” Emily reassured her, “Just let Carly do her thang.”
Courtney laughed, but tried to suppress it when Carly warned her not to move. “And….Voila. Perfect.” Carly smiled as she looked at her work.
“It looks great!” Emily smiled. “Now, we move on to the hair.” Emily pulled the towel off Courtney’s hair. It was still wet. “Come on.” Emily grabbed Courtney’s hand, and dragged her into the bathroom, Carly following.
Downstairs, Marco groaned as he heard the hair dryer turn on, “At least that means they are done with the makeup.” He placed his third issue of vogue of the table, “Are there no more magazines in this place?”
Chapter 16
It was now around eleven o’clock. “Are either of you hungry?” Emily asked after seeing that Courtney’s makeup and hair was complete.
“Starved.” Carly responded, she turned to Courtney, “You?”
“I don’t know if I could hold anything down, but go ahead and eat, I’ll watch.”
“No way.” Carly laughed, “Either you eat with us, or we don’t eat.”
Courtney rolled her eyes, “Fine.” She jumped off the chair she was seated in, and walked down the stairs, Carly and Emily close behind.
Marco quickly sat on the magazine he was reading in order to hide it from the three women who were charging down the stairs. Courtney smiled at Marco, “Are you hungry?”
“Yea, actually, but there’s no food in the refrigerator. Let me go pick up some from Kelly’s.” Marco stood up, slipping the magazine into a crack in the couch.
“Thanks, Marco.” Carly smiled and waved at him as he exited the penthouse.
“Now what?” Courtney sighed as she sat down on the couch looking curiously at the pile of Vogue issues on the coffee table.
“We wait for Marco to bring the food.” Emily stated obviously.
“Or…”Carly smiled mischievously, “We could talk about the guys.”
Courtney laughed at Carly as she joined Courtney on the couch. Emily sat on the coffee table joining in her laughter. “You want to talk about Sonny and Jason?” Emily raised her eyebrows at Carly.
“Why not?” Carly shrugged. “We’ve got time to kill.” Courtney shook her head in amusement, but didn’t argue. “Okay, so where do we start?” Carly rubbed her hands together in anticipation.
Marco walked into Kelly’s. It wasn’t very crowded considering that it was Saturday, and lunch time. He went straight to the counter, not wanting to take the time to sit down and wait. After numerous tries, he got Elizabeth’s attention. She seemed annoyed with him since he was ordering so much food. “What’s the occasion?” Elizabeth plastered on a smile and tried to sound friendly.
Marco smiled, “I’m just picking up some food for Carly, Courtney, and Emily.” Marco may not have always known things that went on in Jason and Courtney’s personal life, but he knew all to well the whole Elizabeth story. And since he didn’t really like her, it was his pleasure to make her squirm. “They are busy getting Courtney ready.”
“Ready for what?” Liz looked curiously at Marco as she finished writing his order down.
“That’s not really my business to tell.” Marco smirked, “I’m in a rush, so if you could tell the cook to hurry, please.” Elizabeth rolled her eyes, but went to the kitchen to place his order.
Marco sat patiently waiting at the counter, scanning the people who entered and exited the restaurant. A few moments later, Liz came back. He knew that she was there to pump some more information out of him, and he was happy to give, in time.
“So Sonny has you being delivery boy, too, does he?” Liz raised her eyebrows at him.
“I’m not getting anything for Sonny, and I volunteered. As I said, Carly and Emily are busy getting Courtney ready. It’s pretty important, so Carly is making a big fuss over Courtney.”
Marco could tell that Liz was annoyed, but she kept prying. “Sounds like Carly, and Courtney probably loves being fussed over.”
“Actually, she seemed fairly annoyed, but I’m sure that she wants to look good.”
Elizabeth was getting extremely impatient. “Why is it such a big deal for her to look good today?” Liz tried to sound perky and not too interested.
Marco only shrugged and repeated, “That’s not really my business to tell.” Elizabeth rolled her eyes and stormed off into the kitchen. She came back only a few minutes later carrying two bagfuls of food. Marco smiled and paid her.
Elizabeth, still curious as to what Courtney was up to today said, “Tell Courtney I said good luck for what ever it is she’s doing.”
Marco smiled as he began to gather the bags in his arms, “The wedding’s not until two, you could probably call her and tell her yourself.” With that Marco left Kelly’s leaving Elizabeth slack jawed looking more idiotic then ever.
Chapter17
When the four of them had finally finished lunch, and the conversation that went along with it, it was one o’clock. Carly finally looked at her watch, her eyes widened when she noticed how late it had gotten. “Holy crap. We need to get to the church, NOW!” Carly yelled. She got up off her chair so fast, it fell to the floor.
“Carly, calm down.” Courtney said.
“No time for that. Emily, come with me, we’ll get the dresses and the makeup. You two,” Carly pointed at Marco and Courtney, “grab our coats and purses, and get the car ready.” With that, Carly grabbed Emily’s arm, and dragged her up the stairs. Courtney gathered everyone’s things, while Marco called for a car to be brought to the front. In a matter of seconds, Carly came bounding down the stairs, Emily close behind, carrying three dresses, and numerous makeup bags. Carly stopped only to put her coat on, and to briefly look Courtney in the eye, “Are you ready?”
“I think so.” Courtney smiled.
“In that case, here we go.” The three women followed Marco out the door, and into the elevator.
“How are you holding up?” Carly walked into the room Jason was getting ready in. Jason sighed, and Sonny laughed. Jason shot him a nasty look, and Sonny shut up immediately.
“Yea, he’s doing fine.” Sonny said. Once Jason had turned around, he shook his head at Carly mouthing, “No he isn’t.”
Carly tried to hold back a laugh. “What time is it?” Jason asked.
“Five minutes after the last time you asked me.” Sonny stated, clearly amused.
Carly rolled her eyes at her husbands lack of making Jason feel better, “It’s almost time.” Carly answered.
Emily walked into the room, “Hi there.”
“Is Courtney all ready?”
“Yea, she wanted me to go check on Jason, though.”
This brought a smile to everyone’s face. “That’s Courtney for you, worried more about everyone else.” Sonny chuckled.
“Okay, Carly, if it’s almost time, then why don’t you get Courtney?” Carly could tell that the suspense was overcoming him.
“Okay, okay, Emily, let’s go. I haven’t seen Courtney in her dress yet.” Emily nodded, and followed Carly out of the room.
It was time. Courtney stood looking into the mirror. She smiled anticipation getting the best of her. Carly and Emily walked into the room. “God, you look gorgeous.” Carly smiled.
Emily nodded in agreement. “Can’t say I’m not jealous.” It was then she realized what she had said, “Not about who you are marrying, how you look.” She sighed, embarrassed, but laughed it off with Courtney. “Jason is a wreck having to wait.”
“Then let’s not keep him waiting.” Carly looked at Courtney, “Let’s go.”
“Wait, where’s Sonny?” Courtney asked.
“Right here.” Sonny smiled at the sight of his sister, “You look amazing. Jason is one lucky guy. He better be happy he’s good enough for you…Well, almost.” Sonny joked. He pulled Courtney into a tight embrace.
“Sonny, it’s time.” Carly interrupted, not wanting to make Jason wait too much longer.
Sonny nodded, never taking his eyes off Courtney. They walked out of the room, ready for the ceremony.
