No Mountain High Enough

Chapter 3

"Courtney I need your help" the voice said very bluntly.

Courtney froze. "Who is this?" sh asked suspiciously. The unfamiliar voice was cold and very demanding.

"My name is Lorenzo Alcazar." Lorenzo said in a smug voice, as if to brag of his identity.

Suddenly a light bulb went off in her head. Alcazar. She had heard Sonny and Jason talk about him on a number of occasions. He’s the one who has Carly. "What do you want Mr. Alcazar?" she asked firmly.

She’s feisty. He thought as a smile crossed his face. "Now, now, Ms. Matthews let’s not get upset.......I just want to talk." he replied in another smug, slick voice.

"How did you get this number?" she asked, fed up with this mans egotistic manner.

"It was actually very easy.....but I, personally, would much rather get to the point of my call......,wouldn’t you?" he asked very conceitedly.

"You know.......actually I was thinking the exact opposite.......I don’t know what you want or why........but in any case I have nothing to say to you." she retorted as she quickly hung up the phone. Her first instinct was to call Jason but she was quickly steered away from the task at hand when the house phone started to ring. Without thinking she quickly picked it up. "Jason?" she asked frantically.

"What’s the matter, Ms. Matthews, did I scare you?" He asked

There it was again that annoying, conceited, Porte Rican, nagging voice that she thought she had just gotten rid of. "I told you Mr. Alcazar.......but I’ll say it slower for you this time.........ok you ready.......I .......have .......nothing.......to......say........to ......you."

"Well then I guess Ms. Matthews our conversation will have to be one sided." he paused waiting for a smart remark. "Ms. Matthews.... or should I say soon to be Ms. Morgan.........sister of Mr. Corinthos........am I making my point yet?"he asked in a very demanding tone.

"No .......no you haven’t" she sighed "Your wasting my time Mr. Alcazar what exactly is it that you want from me?" she spat.

"Power....... Ms. Matthews, and influence. You have the power and the influence over both Corinthos and Morgan." he replied harshly slightly annoyed with her snotty attitude.

She was confused and utterly appalled. Does he really think I’m going to help him in any way for anything ? She pondered. She couldn’t believe that this guy had the nerve to suggest help. "Woo. No stop right there....what makes you think that I will use this ‘power and influence’ as you put it over Sonny and Jason to help you?"

He was thoroughly surprised, he wasn’t expecting he to have such a tenacious loyalty to Morgan and Corinthos. "Careful Ms. Matthews let’s not be belligerent......now as I was saying you can either choose to help me by convincing your brother and boyfriend to let me have use of their docks or you will never see your sister in law or her precious child ever again." he warned. "Am I understood."

"I am not under any circumstances obliged to you. Therefore I will not consent to helping you nor will I go around my fiancee and brother to help you. Why giving the knowledge you have of both my relationship with Jason and Sonny you would even consider that I would consider going against them is just beyond me." she finished angrily, and quickly hung up on the snide man, and called Jason.

"Morgan" he answered in his rock solid tone.

She laughed to herself. She loved how he answered his phone. It was so strong and secretive, so guarded, yet to her it was gentle and sensitive. "Hey Morgan"

"Hey Babe, how are you?"Jason replied as a smile crossed his face.

"Missing you like crazy." she laughed

"I miss you to." he said.

"Jase, Alcazar has been calling here and harassing me about helping him." She said biting her lip. She wasn’t sure how he would react to this.

His smile quickly vanished. "Alcazar called you? What did he say?"

"He said that I had ‘power and influence’ over you and Sonny and that he wanted me to convince you to let him use the docks or else you may never see Carly and her baby ever again." she explained.

He sighed, this was the reason he wanted her on the island with Michael. Now he knew she would get scared and won’t think clearly. " Alright I’ll take care of it. I love you"

"I love you to ........bye" she said right before she hung up. She then walked over to the couch and started to cry. She wasn’t quite sure if it was just her hormones because of the pregnancy or if everything was just catching up to her.

As Jason hung up his phone he turned to see Sonny enter his hotel room.

One look at his best friend and he knew something wasn’t right. "Jason what’s wrong?" he asked.

Here we go. He thought to himself, realizing he needed to tell Sonny about Alcazar harassing Courtney. But he also knew that this incident only further proved Sonny’s point of Courtney being involved with him made her more of a target to the business and their enemies. "Sonny.........uh......Alcazar.... he uh....he called Courtney and harassed her about helping him to gain access to our docks."

"I knew it.......I knew eventually he would try something like this." he sighed "well what did she say to him?" he asked

Jason was shocked Sonny didn’t bring their relationship into this at all. All the same he wasn’t going to say anything either. "Uh.....She said that she told him that he was insane for thinking that she would help him especially when he knew that she had a relationship with both you and I."

"Ok, well she didn’t say anything incriminating so, as much as I hate to let him get away with this and trust me s soon as we get Carly well give him exactly what he deserves but for now we need to ignore this." he explained knowing that Jason wouldn’t argue.

As both men got lost in their own thoughts they barely noticed the annoying ringing and vibrating on the coffee table in front of them. Finally after a few more rings Jason slowly came out of his reverie and answered it.

"Morgan"

" Jason you and Sonny need to be ready in half an hour, Alcazar’s moving Carly at midnight." Max said.

" Yea we’ll meet you at the parking lot have everything ready." he said and hung up.

"Who was that?" Sonny asked

"Max....Alcazar is moving Carly at midnight we’re meeting Max in the parking lots in half an hour" he said nonchalantly.

"OK let’s go" Sonny said as he grabbed his gun and walked out the door with Jason following close behind.
