Chapter Four: One Moment… One Kiss

He stared at her, expecting many responses, but not that one. “What?”

“How dare you come here and do this to me? What right do you have to come to the church on my wedding day and ask me not to marry Jax?”

“Because I love you.” He replied softly

“So? What about me? I loved you… I loved you then and there was nothing that I wanted more then to come and stop your wedding. You know I came… I came to the church that day and I talked to Sonny. And then I left. I left because I believed that it was what you would have wanted! Never mind that all I wanted to do was burst through the doors and stop you from making the biggest mistake of your life.” She exhaled deeply brushing the tears away from her eyes. “But I didn’t… I didn’t because I respected you and your choice to do what you thought was right! Why couldn’t you do that for me?” She asked.

“Because… I’m not as selfless as you.” He stated.

“Bull! You do the selfless thing all the time. You married Brenda when she needed you to, even though you didn’t love her in order to protect Carly and Sonny. You covered for A.J. because I asked you to even when you didn’t think he deserved it! You are the most selfless and giving man that I have ever known!”

“Not when it comes to you. I don’t… I don’t know how to be that man; I can’t be that man if it means losing you.” He vowed.

“Lose me? Jason you are married to someone else! You stood there and looked me in the eye and told me that it was what you wanted… what you thought you had to do. And I accepted that because I believed in you. Now are you going to tell me that it was all a lie?” She asked tearfully.

He shook his head. “No… it wasn’t. I really believed that I was doing the right thing… I know that it was the right thing.”

“So then what are you doing here? Why are you doing this to me?” She stared at him the tears shining in her eyes. “I mean is this revenge? Is that what this is? Are you paying me back for knocking you out and letting Alcazar getting away and betraying you and Sonny? Is that what you’re doing? You come here and toy with my emotions… get me to leave Jax at the altar and then what? Dump me?”

Taking the steps across the room so that he was standing right in front of her he sighed. “I would never do that to you. I would never hurt you that way. I just want you to be happy.”

“What do you think I’m trying to do?” She asked feeling the closeness of him and unable to move.

“I don’t know… I don’t know anything anymore. I don’t know what I was thinking by coming here or saying these things… I just know that I love you… and I know…” He whispered leaning into her. “…that you love me too.” Those were the last words he spoke before his lips descended on hers and their world became just as turbulent as the storm that raged on outside.
