~ Chapter 7 ~

~ Jakes ~

Jason lied in bed with his arms wrapped around her. He still couldn't get over what had happened last night. They had made love most of the night and it was incredible, but he couldn't help but feel a little bit guilty. He knew she was upset and hurt, and he hopped he hadn’t taken advantage of the situation. What made him feel even guiltier was if given the chance, he'd do it again. She was just too incredible to pass up.

He snuggled closer to her, burying his head in her neck and placing a soft kiss on the side of her head. She began to stir and Jason could kick himself for waking her up, but he just had to touch her, kiss her. She turned around in his arms and he greeted her, "Good morning," leaning in for a sensual wake up kiss.

Her fingertips softly grazed his bare chest as they kissed, making sure he was really there. After the kiss broke she gave him a small smile and a "Morning" in return. Her eyes traveled down to where her hands were rubbing his smooth pecks.

"Are you ok?" he asked, leaning down to look into her eyes.

She looked back up at him. "Yeah I'm fine," she said, trying to give him her best reassuring smile.

"Do you want to talk about why were so upset last night?" He tucked a loose piece of hair behind her ear and let his hand travel down the side of her body, stopping at her waist.

"Not really." She looked away.

"I want to help you," he kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger there.

"It's my marriage, my problem," she said coldly.

There it was. What was still standing between them. Her marriage.

He let go of her and turned on to his back, not sure of how to deal with this. He didn’t want to push the issue, so he just stared at the ceiling. She did the same, both of them feeling pretty alone at the moment, after feeling so complete the night before.

"Do you regret it?" he asked still looking at the ceiling.

She didn't answer him and after a few moments he looked over at her, just in time to see her eyes close and a tear run down her cheek. "No," she whispered softly, before starting to cry.

His heart broke for her and he took her into his arms. He couldn’t imagine what she was going through right now. "It's going to be ok." He sat up in bed with her and looked into her eyes. "Listen, this is what you'll do ok? Go home, get anything you would need in the next few days…"

"But my…"

"Tell him your leaving…wait no. Did he hurt you, I mean physically because I will come with you and personally…"

"No, no AJ wouldn't hit me," she said shaking her head and wiping the tears from her eyes.

"So, you'll do it, you will pack up your things and meet me back here?" he asked hopeful. She nodded and he pulled her into a kiss. "I promise you, you're doing the right thing," he told her.

They got dressed and made their way down stairs, holding hands. Down in the bar, he stopped and looked at her. Taking her face in his hands, he told her again, "So, we'll meet back here at 2 o'clock." She nodded and he kissed her again before she left. "Bye."

"Bye," she said and left, turning to look at him one more time before leaving.

He smiled and watched her go. The smile remained on his face, until his cell phone brought him out of it. "Yeah," he answered.

"Where have you been all morning?" Sonny barked into the phone.

"Sonny…um…Jakes." He saw the pool table in front of him. "I wanted to play some pool."

"Jason, you have a pool table in your penthouse."

Jason winced, there was a reason he never lied. He sucked at it. "Yeah, but you know I like Jakes, old times sake, memories all that."

"Yeah, as long as they're not about my wife," Sonny laughed.

"Noo, not your wife." Your sister is a different story. Jason mentally kicked himself for that thought. How would he tell Sonny he was sleeping with his sister? He didn't want to think about it now.

"Anyways man, something's up. I need to talk to you."

"Ok, I'll be over there in a little while." Jason hung up the phone and left Jake's.

~ Docks ~

Her black heels clanked against the wooden boards as she made her way across the docks. The tall blonde stopped and took in her surroundings. "Well, it's a step up from Bensonhurst, that's for sure." She laughed to herself and kept walking, her shoes echoing behind her. She had an old friend to catch up with.

Jason came in and saw Sonny pouring a brandy at the bar. "Hey," he said, nodding towards the stairs.

Sonny shook his head. "Don't worry, she's at the park with Michael. Thanks for getting here so fast."

"No problem. What's up? Is it Rosco?" Jason asked.

Sonny took a sip of his brandy. "Nah, haven't heard a peep from him since you roughed him up a couple of days ago." He held the canter up to Jason, offering him some. Jason just shook his head and waited for Sonny to continue. "That's just it man, things are too quiet. The five families seem scared. And it's not because of what you did to Rosco. They wouldn't be scared over something like that. This is something bigger. Bigger than all of us."

~ The Quartermaine Mansion ~

Courtney came into the house she called home for two months now. She took a deep breath and made her way up the stairs. Walking into her room, she tried to think of all the things she would need to take with her. Her mind was a mess. Everything was just happening so fast. She sat on the bed and tried to collect her thoughts.

"Courtney!" AJ said surprised, as he came out of the bathroom. "Thank god you're alright. I was worried sick." He rushed over to her and wrapped his arms around her. She pushed him away, and went to get her suitcase out of the closet. AJ saw what she was doing and panicked. Moving towards her, he begged for her forgiveness. "No Courtney, please, wait let me explain. I'm so sorry about last night. I know I was wrong, so wrong. Please just hear me out ok?" She stopped her packing and looked at him. "Thank you," he said with a sigh of relief and took her hand, bringing them to sit on the bed. "What I said last night was so wrong. I was just so stressed out and I took it out on you. And I'm sorry."

"AJ…" she tried to stop him, tell him to save it, but he cut her off.

"Please, just let me finish. Not having you here last night, it made me realize how important you are to me and that I couldn't stand to lose you. So things are going to change I promise you. I am going to put you first, stand up for you when the family gets on your case, and I am going to do things the legal way. No more backhanded maneuvers. I'm going to be totally straight forward about everything. Courtney, you make me want to be a better man." He finished his speech with a caress of her cheek and waited anxiously for her response.

"I don’t know, AJ." She couldn't believe all the things he had just said to her. Was he really willing to change for her?

"Look, I don't want to give up on our marriage and I know you don’t want that either. We've only been married two months, don’t you think we deserve to give this more of a shot? Marriage is tough, what does it say if we give up after hitting our first roadblock?"

She took a deep breath. "You're right…"

"I knew you'd understand," he said excitedly, taking her into his arms. He pulled back and kissed her, relieved to have a second chance.

~ Jakes ~

Jason leaned against the pool table, sipping his beer and waiting for Courtney to come back. He had told Sonny he would keep an eye out for any weird activity or new power in town. He knew he had to tell Courtney that he was AJ's brother and worked for Sonny, but he was genuinely afraid to. Courtney didn’t care for her brother and he feared she would want nothing to do with him if she knew he worked for Sonny. He heard the door swing open and smiled when he saw her come towards him. His smile dropped though when he noticed she didn't have any bags with her.

"Hey, you pack light," he joked nervously.

"We have to talk," she told him, somberly. How was she going to do this?

"Ok," he took her hands in his. He didn't like the sound of this.

"I talked to my husband, and he really wants to work things out. I owe him that," she said sadly.

Jason felt as if she had just reached into his chest and pulled his heart out. He had never felt this way about anyone before. He had kept himself guarded for years to avoid this type of pain and now that he had finally opened himself up to someone…No no this wasn't going to happen. He would change her mind. "But Courtney, ever since I've known you, he has caused you nothing but pain, why would you want to stay and deal with that? I promise to never hurt you like that."

She couldn’t get over the pained look on his face. She had never seen him look like that and it broke her heart. Tears began to well up in her eyes as she breathed an "I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry, just stay with me. I don’t want him hurting you anymore." He stroked her hair and looked into her eyes.

"He said he was going change, things were going to be different."

"Courtney, you can't change a person!" he yelled.

"Don't be mad at me please," she cried.

He took a deep breath and pulled her closer to him. "I'm not mad, just confused."

"My parents gave up on their marriage and our family way too easily. I always told myself I would never be like them. Not only do I owe it to AJ, but I owe it to myself to try again," she explained.

"I don't want to give you up," he whispered, his eyes the bluest she had ever seen them, clear with unshed tears.

"I don't either," her head dropped to avoid his gaze and she cried harder.

He pulled her into his arms and told her, "I want you in my life. I don't care how or if I have to share you. I'm not going to lose you, not now." His lips came crashing down on hers. He put his whole body, all his feelings for her into that kiss. Anything not to lose her. They broke apart breathless. "Please Courtney, if you have to stay in your marriage fine, but don't end what we've started."

She couldn't believe him. He was willing to continue their relationship, even when she wasn't willing to leave her husband for him. She knew she shouldn't agree to this, not if she really wanted to give her marriage a second chance, but she was so drawn to him and didn't think she could stay away even if she tried. She nodded and brought his face down to hers. After kissing her, he pulled back to look into her eyes. He smiled and lifted her off her feet, carrying her up the stairs.

~Corinthos/Morgan Warehouse ~

She walked into the spacious warehouse, her fingers gliding over the coffee bags as she made her way up to his office. "Not bad," she said to herself. Her heels made a more piercing noise as they hit against the steel stairs up to his office.

"Excuse me, you can't go in there," Max said, standing in front of her.

"I need to see Sonny Corinthos," her blue eyes stared into his, cold as ice, but mesmerizing all the same.

He cleared his throat. "I'm going to have to clear it with him first."

"That's fine," she told him, running a finger down his chest, only stopping when she hit his belt buckle. She couldn't resist and smiled up at him.

"Name?" his voice squeaked.

She laughed. "Just tell him Peaches is here to see him."

"Peaches?"

"That's what I said," she told him, bringing her finger back up his chest.

He raised his eyebrows at her and lifted the lapel of his jacket to speak into the small microphone that sat there. "Sir, there is um a Peaches here to see you." His eyes never left hers as he relayed the message to his boss.

Sonny's head came up from his paper work and looked and at intercom on his desk. "No, it couldn’t be." For a moment he was lost in memories from the past, but snapped himself out of it and pressed the intercom button. "Send her in."

The door opened and Sonny couldn’t believe his eyes. "Jules?"
