Do You Want Me To?

CHAPTER 2:

“Sonny, What’s wrong?” Courtney stated innocently.

“Jason, Can I have a word with you outside? Sonny said pretending that he did not hear Courtney. Jason turned to look at Courtney and said “I’ll be right back.” They both had a worried look on there face.

“Sonny this isn’t what you think. Me and Jason are just friends, and we are just having dinner.” Courtney blurted out not knowing why she was explaining herself to him he was only her brother, and what she did was her own business.

He stared at her blankly “Carly keep Courtney company. Jason and I have some business to discuss.” Carly didn’t remark but kissed him and said “Hurry back.” Sonny led and Jason followed him out of the door of Luke’s. “Sonny before you get angry let me explain” Jason said unsure of how he was going to get himself out of this one.

Sonny snapped back “Explain what? Why you are out with my little sister? Why it appears you two are on a date? Explain to me Jason, Why are you here with Courtney, even though she is in no danger anymore?”

“It’s not like that Sonny. When I was watching over Courtney at the Oasis we grew as friends. I thought you would like the idea since she won’t allow you to assign her any men.” Sonny’s anger started to disappear slightly. As he realized he was jumping to conclusions. But, he knew that something was going on. Something was different with Jason, he could feel it.

“So lets get this clear, You are looking after her for me?” Sonny said sort of understanding.

“Well there is that and we really are just friends. I like hanging out with her. You know she is a lot like you, believe it or not.” Sonny started to laugh a little, and Jason knew that was a good sign. But Jason couldn’t help but feel bad. He wanted to tell Sonny everything. That he was falling for Courtney, that she was all he thought of and that she brought out a side of him that he didn’t even know existed. That he lost control when he was with her, and that he knew she felt the same way. He could see it. He could stare into her eyes and they would burn through him. But he couldn’t she was Sonny’s sister and it was just not permitted.

Inside Courtney sat down with Carly. Courtney was a little aggravated that Sonny was blowing everything way out of proportion.

Carly jumped in “Are you ok sweetie?” Courtney just played with the napkin on the table not looking up at her sister-in-law. “I guess, I mean I don’t know why he has this constant need to protect me. I am a big girl, and I will do whatever I want with my life. Not that I even want to be with Jason, I mean I like him and all but it’s just not like that with us.” She said it knowing in her heart that she did want more. That every time she saw Jason her stomach got fluttery and she felt like a little school girl. But she wasn’t one to act on instinct she needed more to go on. She needed to know how Jason felt and if it was the same.

Carly smiled as if to say yeah right “Courtney you can be honest with me, we are family and I am not Sonny I won’t judge you”

“Carly,” Courtney replied trying to cut her off. But Carly kept on going ”I see the way you look at Jason, and how can you help it? He is like no other man. He is strong yet gentle, not to mention gorgeous.”

“Carly it’s not like that you have to understand.” Courtney simply said.

“I do understand Courtney I see the way Jason looks at you and I’ve never seen him so happy, Ever.” Courtney began to smile and shake her head trying to play it off. The fact was is she wanted Carly to keep going. “I understand Courtney because it is the same way that I look at Sonny and the same way Sonny looks at me.”

Courtney started again ”Carly lets be honest Jason doesn’t want to be with me. He likes Liz, and besides he is Sonny’s best friend. Sonny would never permit it so Jason would never go for it. So it is just out of the question.” Carly had a sly smile and replied “Ok first of all Elizabeth and Jason were never together it was the most pathetic thing, besides Jason told me he never had feelings for her, and he doesn’t lie to me Courtney. Second you just admitted it to me that you do think about Jason and wonder what it would be like if you two could be together.”

“I didn’t say that” Courtney said trying to hold back her smile.

“Don’t make excuses Courtney, if you want to be with Jason be with him. He would never hurt you. But don’t blame it on Sonny or Elizabeth, for Christ’s sake that was over three years ago. And don’t worry about your brother I’ll work on him and I get what I want about 99% of the time.”

“Enough Carly here they come.” Courtney said trying to shut her up before Jason heard there conversation.

Jason and Sonny started to walk back over to the table but stopped a few feet away. “I’m sorry I blew up, she is my sister and I don’t want her to get hurt again. Thanks for explaining everything to me.” Those words were like knives in Jason’s stomach. He just wanted to be honest.

They approached the table “Are you ready Carly?” Sonny asked.

Carly got feisty “No, are you? I was hoping we could stay and keep Courtney and Jason company for a while”

“I’m ready to go Carly, now!” Sonny said bluntly.

“Ok but let me dance with Jason real quick it will take three minutes.” She pleaded with Sonny.

Jason shook his head and simply said “I don’t dance, you know that Carly.” Carly lashed back

“Well your dancing with me or I’m not leaving. “ He knew it would be the only way to get her to leave so he finally gave in. “Fine. A half of song lets go.” Jason looked over at Courtney shaking his head. Smiling he said “I’ll be right back, order me a drink I’m going to need it.”

“Ok, have fun” Courtney replied sarcastically.

Sonny took a seat next to his sister. “I’m mad at you.” Courtney said.

“Oh Yeah? Sonny replied with a half grin.

“Yeah, Why do you have to intrude on my life? Me and Jason are just friends and I don’t see why that has to be such a problem.”

Sonny smiled “Are you done? I am sorry. I didn’t mean to jump to conclusions, Jason explained everything to me. I won’t question your friendship again.”

She smiled and simply said “Thank You.” But deep down she was crushed. Deep down she wished Jason would have told Sonny that there was a connection between the two of them and that they wanted to be with each other. But did they? She knew she wanted to be with him more than she ever wanted anything in her entire life.

Carly and Jason headed to the dance floor “Why do you want to dance Carly just spit it out, Whatever you have to say to me just say it.” Jason said taking her hips and keeping some distance between them. “Stop dancing with me like I am your grandma” she said laughing. “ok I’ll tell you why I wanted to dance. I want you to tell me what is going on with you. You have never lied to me before so don’t start now.”

Jason thought of how he could answer her without technically lying. So he did the best he could do “I just have a lot of stuff on my mind lately that’s it.”

“Jason look at me in my eyes and tell me what is going on. I love you, you are my best friend and if you can’t tell me what Is on your mind then you can’t tell anyone. Look, just because me and Sonny are married doesn’t mean that I tell him everything.”

“Yeah I know” Jason said sarcastically He knew that he shouldn’t but he had to open up to someone. If he didn’t he thought he would burst. So he made a big decision to let it all out.

“ok, here goes” he started “I don’t know what is going on and that is the God honest truth Carly. Everything is messed up, I am doing things that I would have never done before I met her. She makes me loose complete control of everything.” He hesitated and backed away a little. “I can’t do this Carly, I don’t know what is going on with me, and I can’t believe I am telling you these things.

She just smiled and said gently “It’s ok Jason, your in love. Its so cute, I’ve never seen you act like this before.” They were looking at each other and for a split second Jason could actually understand why Carly did the things that she did.

He quickly snapped out of it. “I’m not supposed to feel this way not for her.”

“Jason, we cannot pick and choose who we fall in love with. That’s not reality. Look, I love Sonny with all of my heart, and look what I went through to be with him. And look at us now. It is all worth it in the end .I am telling you if she is worth it then you have to fight for her, even if it is Sonny, but if she is not then stay away. The last thing you want to do is hurt her. She has it for you bad” she finished pinching his dimples obnoxiously. He couldn’t help but smile inside and out.

‘Go rescue him and cut in before Carly pushes him over the edge. She has the ability to do that you know.” Sonny said just wanted to go home before Michael was in bed.

“You want me to go over there and dance with him?” Courtney said surprised.

“Yeah I do just to save him from my mingling wife. Besides you guys are just friends right?”

“Ok” She stood up and walked over to Jason and Carly. “May I cut in?” Courtney said shyly.

Carly got a big smile and raised her eyebrows to Jason as if to say I told you so.

“He’s all yours honey, see you guys later. And Courtney show this kid a good time it’s been too long.” Carly hurried to try and rush Sonny out of there so that the moment wouldn’t be wasted.

Jason awkwardly took Courtney’s hips. It was uncomfortable because Sonny was still there.

Courtney broke the silence ”You know we don’t have to dance if you don’t want to. We can go sit down if you want.”

“No, No this is nice. I just didn’t want to dance with Carly.” Jason replied.

“Bye guys” Carly yelled out across the restaurant.

“Bye!” they both said in unison and then stopping to laugh at themselves.

“You really do look beautiful tonight Courtney” Jason said his body was growing hotter. Courtney stepped closer to him. “Thank you” she replied. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”

Sonny was gone now and there bodies became a little looser. Courtney accidentally stepped on Jason’s foot and they were laughing. He couldn’t help but pull her closer to him. And she just laid her head on his shoulder. It was like it was meant to be as he rested one of his hands on the top of her head as they swayed back and forth. Courtney couldn’t stop smiling and Jason shut his eyes and took it all in.

At that moment Sonny walked back into Luke’s to grab Carly’s coat that she had left there. He caught a glimpse of his best friend holding his sister and he could feel his blood pressure starting to rise. He shook his head and walked out. Neither of them noticed that he was there they were to busy worrying about each other right then.

The song ended but they just stood there, holding each other, not wanting to come back to reality and not wanting to loose that moment.

It was Jason’s turn to break the silence. “Do you want to take a walk with me there are some things that I need to tell you”

Courtney said “Sure, Is it bad?”

He smiled and said “Well that depends.” meaning it depended on her response to his true feelings.
