Fanfiction Submission Guidelines

Please read this information carefully before sending your story. We reserve the right to not post any stories that do not follow the guidelines. Please also note that over the past few months that Journey Online has been open, we have been very lenient in terms of which fanfics we post up. We have let things such as not following these rules slide. We will no longer do that because it takes a lot of time to post up these fanfics and the least we expect is for these guidelines to be followed. We don't think they are very much and they are something that is really needed in order to have a good story. So please, read carefully and make sure you follow the rules.

If you have problems with writing/grammar/spelling or any of the quirky things in fan fiction, please read How Not To Write A Fanfic. It is a great tool when you want to become a better writer.

Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt.

Font Color: Black

Spacing: Do not indent paragraphs or use tabs. To show paragraphs, please double space between them.

Please note that this the font size/color and spacing is VERY important. If you do not follow the rules, we will not post up the stories.

Spell check and Grammar: Spelling and grammar must be to an acceptable standard. They do not have to be perfect (everyone makes mistakes) but we need to get the impression from reading your fic that you have taken the effort to check it.

This is a recurring mistake with a vast majority of the writers in Journey Online. Please note that I will e-mail you back telling you to revise your story if the grammar is not acceptable. We want your story to be the best it possibly can be. Please take some time and put some effort in checking your grammar and spelling mistakes. Also count in typos and what not. If you aren't sure about what "what not" exactly means, read How Not To Write A Fanfic

How to Submit:

Title:
Author:
Feedback:
Rating:
Category:
Type:
Summary:

Detailed description of each category:

Title: Include the name of your story. A good title needs to be catchy. The first thing that a reader checks out is the name of your story and then moves onto the other information so make sure you have an unique title.

Author: When submitting your story to me you must include your name. I won't remember if you've submitted your story previously, so please make sure that you include your name. Pseudonyms are fine.

Feedback: Please indicate the e-mail address where feedback should go.

Rating: All fanfics MUST have ratings. You may tell your readers why it is that you want this rating. The following ratings would be suitable:

G - Suitable for young children to read.

PG - Some curse words, some violence, some reference to sex, but nothing graphic.

R - Profanity, graphic sex, graphic violence.

NC17 - Extremely graphic sex and/or violence. If it's smutty, it's NC17.

Category: Each story should fit the following categories:

Long - Generally considering more than several chapters. If it is longer than five chapters, it's considered to be a long story. Please note that only COMPLETED stories are considered to be long! Do not put long as your description if your story is a work in progress!

Short - Any stories under five chapters, parts, etc. are considered to be short stories. Note that all short stories if having more than one chapter, MUST be sent together. In other words, it must be complete.

Work in Progress - Otherwise known as WIP. Stories that are still in progress.

Poem - This one is obvious, lol.

Misc. - Anything that doesn't fall into the above categories.

Series - A line of short stories that are somehow linked together (not so much as sequel, but sequel of short stories are ok too).

Type: Readers would want to know what type of story it is.

Alternate Reality - Characters do things or go places that would most likely never happen on the original show. Characters are placed in 'worlds' of their own other than that established by GH. For example: a story of Jason and Courtney growing up as children. That would be an alternate reality.

Angst - Heavy stories where the main character suffers emotional or physical pain.

Crossover - Features major characters from other shows, movies or books. Please tell me what movie, book, or show it crosses over with.

Episode rewrite - Story picks up where an actual GH scene leaves off, or is a total rewrite of the scene. Note that you MUST include a description or exact date of the scene.

Humor - Stories that, on the whole, are intended to be funny. Including parodies.

Mob - Stories where the mob life styles play a significant role.

Plot What Plot or Porn Without Point(PWP) - Stories that focus mainly on love scenes, with little or no plot and character development. Also known as smutty or porny stories. Note that if your story contains a lot of graphic sexual encounters, it does not make it a PWP. PWP will only be considered that if there are little or no plot and character development.

Rape/Abuse - Stories that features specific types of explicit violence, which might be upsetting to readers.

Romance - A good old fashion love story.

Note: A story can have more than one Type.

Summary: You must include a brief summary of what your story is about. It can be one or two sentences that can be 'teasers' for readers. Note that this would be what draws a reader in to read your story.

Additional Guidelines:

Subject of e-mail - When sending in a story please include the NAME of the story and the CHAPTER that is included within the e-mail. Please place this same information in the body of the e-mail also.

This is the e-mail where fanfic goes to: Journey4ever2000@yahoo.com

FAQ:

How should I send in my story? - You can paste them in the body of the e-ail and right now it's recommended. It makes my work easier believe it or not. But if you want you can also attach it to the e-mail. Please attach it in an universal format such as .doc .rtf or any regular word document programs. You can do this by clicking on the save as button and right below where the name is supposed to be there is a format option. Hotmail users: please attach your stories. When stories are sent from hotmail accounts, hotmail tends to put strange codes in there. It will save a lot of trouble if you simply send the story to us as an attachment!

Do you accept everything that people send you? - As long as it follows the guidelines and there isn't something terribly wrong with the formatting to a point where I cannot read it, I accept everything I receive.

I've been posting my story at another website, could you get it from there? - If it is posted on another website (other then one that will delete the message eventually, like Soap Zone. I am looking for a PERMANENT place) then you have to let me know. Please note that I won't update a story just because it's posted somewhere else. You have to let me know and give me the direct link to it.

Can you read my story and tell me what you think before it's posted? - Yes, one of us will read all stories submitted.

Authors who write short chapters: this is very very imprtant! Please do not send us chapters that are shorter than THREE PAGES! If your chapters are shorter than three pages, please combine them together and THEN send it to us. If any chapters are shorter than three pages, we will not post them up and you will not be notified about it. It makes it a lot easier for me to post up longer chapters instead of putting up a half page chapter every time I update. Please be considerate and combine your chapters if they are short!

If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail us.
