Jax: How can anyone ever know what jason really feels?

Courtney: I did, jax. He showed me every single day, and you know what? When we got married, neither of us took it lightly. We had to be se e of what we felt, and, jax, those feelings were as honest and real as anything can get, on both of our parts. You know what? Maybe you just don't understand what it really means to love.

Jax: The hell I don't. I know all too well.

Courtney: Is this about brenda?

Jax: Yes, it is about brenda. I gave her everything. I left nothing out. And that's exactly what I was left with -- nothing.

Courtney: Yeah, but, jax, if you experience love, it's never for nothing.

Jax: Yeah, it is if it doesn't last and all you're left with is sadness and a hollow spot that longs for the one person that is never able to fill that space again. You know, they say that a love like that lyly comes along once in a lifetime. God, I hope they're right.

Courtney: So that's it? You've just given up? Is that why you're making $10 million bets, to sleep with women you barely know?

Jax: Don't be so quick to judge, courtney. You've given up on love, too.

Courtney: If you really think that I'm the kind of person who would ever walk away from something as fundamental as love, jax, you know l less about me than I thought.

Jax: Well, maybe not giving up so much as shutting down. I recognize it, because I'm doing it myself. It's called learning from your mistakes and being more careful the next time around. That's what makes us so perfect for each other. You know, we can have fun without risking our hearts. It's just a bet, a game, no personal risk, and a worthy charity could end up $10 million richer. Neat and tidy. I like it.

Courtney: Wow. Brenda really did a number on you.

Jax: Well, she had some help from sonny and his corrupt quagmire he calls a life. That's another thing that you and I have in common, unless you want to pretend that jason sleeping with sonny's girlfriend and getting her pregnant while he was still married to you doesn't make you the slightest bit cynical.

Courtney: No, not cynical, jax. Just unspeakably sad.

Courtney: No, thank you. That's the same ploy you used on me when you tried to ambush me with a kiss I didn't particularly want.

Jax: Oh, no, I'm not always that calculating.

Courtney: Yeah, well, since this is just a big game, I can walk away whenever I want.

Faith: Hands off! All right! God, I can take it from here! Ok, jason, I happen to have a life, unlike you, so why do you keep interrupting it? I mean, why did you have no-name drag me in here?

Jason: You've been trying to take advantage of sonny's family distractions to further your own ambition, faith. I'm not in a good mood, so I'm warning y,, stop while you still have the choice.

Faith: The person who is motivated to move against sonny is alcazar, and now that carly has dumped him, he doesn't have to make nice anymore, and sonny's been distracted lately. He does that a lot.

Jason: I'm paying attention, faith. That's all you need to worry about.

Jax: Look, I need to see hi now, ok?

Max: It can wait. Mr. Morgan's in a meeting.

Jason: What the hell do you want?

Jax: I wanted to congratulate you in person on becoming a father.

Faith: Oh? You and bunny are back together?

Jax: No, that's old news. Jason finally found someone on his own level -- sam mccall.

Fait o oh. Oh, this is really too delicious. You've been boffing sonny's girlfriend and lived to tell the tale?

Jax: Yes, but that's not all. Sam just shared the happy news -- her and jason are getting married.

Faith: Well, this is amazing news. Jason, a daddy? The mind positively reels. Well, at least it proves that you're human, and marriage, too? My goodness, who will be the best man now that sam has proven that it obviously isn't sonny?

[Faith laughs]

Jason: It's funny? Keep laughing out here [drags her outside] Why are you still here?

Jax: Because I wanted to thank you. Seeing you and sam and your new baby will finally set courtney free of you. But don't worry, because I'll be there to pick up the pieces.

Sam: Courtney, courtney --

courtney: I have someplace to be, sam.

Sam: Please, I won't take much of your time. You have no idea how sorry I am.

Courtney: You want to be sorry, sam, be sorry for jason. I don't believe for a second that he loves you, but he is the one who got stuck all the same.

Sam: Jason's a good man --

courtney: Oh, don't you dare presume to explain jason to me. I know him better than anyone. He is only staying with you, sam, because you tricked him by getting pregnant, and it isn't in him to walk away. Sam, you finally hit the jackpot. So sit back and enjoy your life. But I swear to you, if you hurt him or use this baby against him and I find out about it, I will make you regret the day you were born.
