[Jason comes up to see Jax and Courtney kissing]

Jax: Well, that's good timing. I was going to have my assistant call you.

Jason: What do you want?

Jax: Well, this is a little uncomfortable to do this in front of courtney.

Jason: Just say it.

Jax: I think you're aware that I'm on the board of courtney's foundation.

Jason: That's good for you. What do you want?

Jax: We're having a charity event at the cellar, and since carly is the newly reinstated owner, I'm sure she's going to put you on the guest list. It's a courtesy invitation only. It would be best for everyone if you and your new fiancé stayed away.

Courtney: Fiancé?

Jax: Oh you didn't know? Yeah, jason and sam are getting married.

Courtney: Of course you and sam are getting married. You're -- you're going to have a family.

Jax: Yeah, and we all know that you have such traditional values --

courtney: Jax!

Jason: I came to tell you myself, but you --

courtney: There's no need to now. Congratulations, jason. I know -- I know that you're doing what's best for the baby. And I -- I hope you'll be happy.

Jason: Well, good luck with your charity. 

[Jason leaves]

Jax: I'm -- I'm sorry. That must have hurt.

Courtney: God, save it. Jax, you enjoyed every minute of that.

Jax: I didn't enjoy blindsiding you. But it was necessary.

Jax: Look, you deserved to know that jason was marrying sam.

Courtney: Jason would have told me when he was ready, jax.

Jax: Why are you always defending him?

Courtney: You're the one who was out of line.

Jax: Because I told the truth?

Courtney: No, jax, because you threw it in my face.

Jax: All right, you're right. You're right. I let jason get to me.  But, look, it may hurt now, but the feeling will pass, and you'll be better off.

Courtney: I'm sorry.

Jax: Don't be.

Courtney: No, jax, I'm not apologizing for being mad. I'm sorry that brenda hurt you the way she did. And god, you're so jaded.

Jax: You're right – I've been burnt. And I hate seeing it happen to someone else. But you really need to see what's going on here, courtney. Look, I like you, but you're still living your life by sonny's and jason's code. You're always -- you're always trying to justify their actions.

Courtney: No, that's not true, jax. I couldn't stand jason's work. That's why we're not together.

Jax: Then why are you making excuses for the way he betrayed you? Hmm? He said that he loved you and then he cheated on you. If I can see how fantastic you are, how come he couldn't?

Courtney: Jason did love me, ok? It just -- we didn't make good partners.

Jax: So you don't mind that he slept with sam?

Courtney: We were broken up, jax.

Jax: Well, he moved on really fast.

Courtney: Yeah, well, someone had to. Look, I get that you care and I don't deny that I'm hurt by what happened between jason and sam. But nothing you say is going to make me think of jason as some awful person who never loved me.

jax: I want to help you with this.

Courtney: Then drop the subject, ok? Jason is human. He was hurting, he reached out to sam. It was physical. Ok? And when sam turned up pregnant, jason took responsibility for the baby.

Jax: Give -- if jason did what was right, he would have honored his commitment to you. Why -- why can't you admit that the man treated you badly?

Courtney: Jason made a mistake, jax, and now he is dealing with the consequences.

Jax: Unbelievable. You insist on seeing him as some noble hero. You know, if you feel so strongly about jason, why not put him to the test? Offer to take him back. I think we both know that he will choose the mother of his child over the woman he supposedly loves.

Later…

courtney: It's a little late to be out in the park alone.

Sam: Yeah, well you're here.

Courtney: That's different -- I can defend myself.

Sam: So can I.

Courtney: Sam, you shouldn't be taking risks when you're pregnant.

Sam: Look, courtney, I know you don't like me. It's obvious and you have tons of reasons not to, but I am not a pushover. I've spent half of my life on boats in the middle of nowhere. I can definitely handle a park.

Courtney: You know, I used to be a lot like you. And I thought that I could take on the world. But I lost my baby because I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that there was this vulnerable life inside of me, a life that I made with jason. God, sam, you're lucky to be carrying his child. And I want jason to be happy, so I am going to tell you what no one told me -- cherish that life, sam. Protect it. Don't do anything crazy or impulsive. Make that child come first no matter what because if you don't, it could be the biggest mistake you've ever made.
