Courtney: I was surprised you called. I didn't think that I'd hear from you for a while after the way you stormed out of my loft.

Jax: Temporary insanity.

Courtney: Hmm.

Jax: I should know better than to throw ultimatums at you. It only makes you even more stubborn, if that's possible. But I'm stubborn, as well, so i'm here to offer you a compromise. Let me take you on an extended vacation far away from faith rosco, and the potential of another mob war.

Courtney: Not to mention, jason.

Courtney: Admit it, jax. I mean, come on, the real issue isn't my safety, it's jason.

Jax: You really think the entire world revolves around this man, don't you?

Courtney: All right, look. We have come a long way. Far enough that I'd hope we could be honest with each other. Especially when the truth is so clear. Look, if you're concerned that i am still in love with jason and that i'm drifting back to him, just say so.

Jax: I'll tell you what concerns me. That you're still loyal to this man. That's not my focus at the moment. Violence is about to break out between sonny and some other mob faction. Yeah, it could be faith or lorenzo -- I don't know. But I don't want you in the line of fire. Ok? You're sonny's sister and jason's ex. You make for a really good target. If i can just take you to the other side of the world, and, you know, at least -- we'll have plenty of time to discuss your appalling taste in men.

Courtney: Thanks so much for the offer, jax, but I'm not going anywhere.

Courtney: You turned out to be a really good friend. And thanks to you, after this bet is over, my foundation will be $10 million richer.

Jax: Maybe.

Courtney: Ok, jax, look, I like you, so don't take this the wrong way. I don't want or need your protection.

Jax: Well, then i should look after my own best interests, but you might not agree.

Courtney: Meaning?

Jax: I like you, too. I enjoy spending time with you. That stubborn streak is somewhat endearing at times, which means i'm not ready to lose you from my life. But I won't facilitate you placing yourself in danger by adhering to some draconian code of silence, which i certainly never signed up for. So i'm going to do what I should have done when the shooting started. I'm going to take this to the police.

Courtney: Ok, jax, if you call the police, you're only going to make everything worse.

Jax: For faith? Why should i care about that? And if the next word out of your mouth is going to be "jason," you know what? He chooses to -- to break the law. He can suffer the consequences. The only thing i care about is that you and i are safe.

[Jax gets up and Court tries to stop him]

Courtney: Ok, jax, would you just leave it alone?

Jax: Courtney, I would do almost anything for you -- except stand by and let you be a target for violence.  [he leaves]

[Knock on door]

courtney: Hey.

Carly: Hey.

Courtney: Look, I've been trying to reach jason. He's not picking up his cell phone. Do you have any idea where he is?

Carly: Listen, under any other circumstance, I would be thrilled you're looking for jason, but sam is --

courtney: Ok, look, carly, it's not the time to play matchmaker, all right? Jason could be in trouble. Do you know where he went?

Carly: Well, I overheard him say that he and max were going to pier 52 to intercept some shipment, I think.

Courtney: Any chance that they went after faith?

Carly: I wouldn't say there's no chance. Why? Why are you asking?

Courtney: Because now, thanks to jax, the police could be waiting.

The Docks

Jason: Alcazar said his yacht's going to drop faith off at 10:00. And I don't have time to waste taking her someplace else, so we are going to handle it here.

Max: Ok.

Jason: Ok? Now, if something unexpected comes up, I want you prepared to step in and finish it.

Max: Got it.

[Jason and Max hide, then Courtney comes running in]

Courtney: Jason? Look, jason, i know you're out here. I'm not leaving until you come talk to me!

Jason: What are you doing?

Courtney: Ok, listen to me. Jax went to the police, ok? He's going to tell them everything -- how faith shot him, how she tried to kill me and jax. He's going to tell them that you went after her, ok? Just can you -- can you just drop this? Can you call it off? Please, just let the police arrest her and let it be done with.

Jason: Courtney, you need to leave.

Courtney: Did you hear a word that i said? Jason, this is a trap!

Jason: Look, I appreciate your warning, but I know what i'm doing.

Courtney: Ok, fine. Fine -- you know what? If you want to throw your life away, fine, do it. I was stupid to try and stop you.  [she leaves]

Kelly's

Courtney: Surprise.

Jax: I'll say. I thought you'd go running straight to jason.

Courtney: I did. And, of course, it was a complete waste of time and energy. And jason's going to do what he wants to do. And I never have, and I never will be able to influence him. But you know what? It made me realize something. That's exactly how it should be.

Jax: Well, that sounds promising.

Courtney: Jason and I are -- yeah, we're living separate lives. Ok? I'm not part of that world anymore or the violence or the insanity. I don't have to keep sonny and jason's secrets. Oh, boy. This isn't easy to admit.

Jax: No, please, go on. I'm not going to hold it against you.

Courtney: Ok, ok. You were right, going to the police.

Jax: Oh.

Courtney: And -- and I thank you. Not just for clear thinking, but for caring enough to want to protect me.

Jax: Well, you're more than welcome.

The Docks

Jason: This is no good. Let's go.

[Explosion]
