The Loft
Courtney: Oh, congratulations, by
the way. As tricks go, this was a good one.
Jax: Tricks?
Courtney: Oh, come on. I mean,
you had to know that I would see right through you. I mean, really, the clock
is ticking on your little bet, and now you are ratcheting up your little
seduction campaign. Like I said, this one -- this one was extremely inspired.
Really, Jax -- I mean, showing up at my door at dawn; bearing breakfast and
flowers. A girl could get used to this, but it is not going to get me into bed
with you.
Jax: I think I'm offended now.
Courtney: Oh, sure you are.
Jax: You see calculation behind
my every move?
Courtney: Hmm, let's see -- every
move? Yeah.
Jax: Well, I'm going to have to
work on dispelling some of that cynicism.
Courtney: Really?
Jax: Come here.
[He kisses Courtney just as Jason
comes around the corner. Jason goes
back around the corner and leans against the wall, hurt.]
[jax has left and Court notices
his sunglasses on the counter]
[Knock on door]
Courtney: Uh-huh. Leaving
something behind? That is so path--
Jason: Jax just left the parking
lot. I need to speak to you, alone.
Inside
Jason: Just tell me exactly what
Jax told the cops.
Courtney: What difference does it
make, Jason? Faith is in custody. She's out of your way. I mean, isn't that the
point, or does she have to be dead first?
Jason: What are you talking --
you're the one who tried to warn me on the pier. I just want to know how the --
Courtney: Jason, I was desperate
to save you that night, but you had no interest in hearing what I had to say.
You told me to stay out of it, so I am taking your advice, ok?
Jason: Well, this is important. I
need to know what happened, Courtney.
Courtney: Just stop, stop! Stop
grilling me, ok? Don't you have anything else better to do? I mean, maybe Sam
needs your help again, or has she already moved on?
Jason: No, Sam -- Sam’s not going
anywhere.
Courtney: So she's still living
with you after everything that's happened?
[Jax shows up at the door]
Jax: Well, then, why don't you go
back to Sonny's mistress and leave Courtney alone.
Jason: So you monitor Courtney’s
guests now?
Jax: You're not a guest. Guests
are invited. What's it going to take for you to get the message, Jason?
Courtney's through with you.
Jason: Jax speaks for you?
Courtney: No, he doesn't. Look,
Jason, I just -- I think -- I think you should just leave us alone.
Jason: If that's what you want. [Jason looks at her and leaves]
Jax: Well, wonders never cease.
You finally closed the door on Jason and opened it to me.
Courtney: Like hell.
Jax: You tripped yourself up, and
don't bother trying to deny it.
Courtney: Really? And how did I
do that?
Jax: Well, you referred to us, as
in "us," as in "we," as in "couple."
Courtney: Ok, all right. Jax, don't
-- don't get ahead of yourself, all right? Jason got on my nerves, and I just
said the first thing that popped into my head, all right?
Jax: Oh, well, knee-jerk
reactions are usually more revealing than well-thought-out answers. I'm really
getting under your skin, aren't I?
Courtney: I wouldn't go that far.
Jax: Well, then go as far as
you're comfortable with.
Courtney: Ok, fine. I like you,
all right? We have fun together.
Jax: It's deeper than that, and
you know it. Look, I know that you didn't intend to let your guard down.
Neither did I. But it's happening in spite of our well-laid plans. So why not
just let it? I promise that you won't be sorry.
Courtney: Oh, my God. I -- I
forgot, and I’ve been trying to get in there forever. I'm so -- I'm late.
Jax: What? What are you talking
about?
Courtney: I have a hair
appointment.
Jax: You got to be kidding.
Courtney: No, I'm not. I'm not,
and this guy is impossible to get into. I mean it, he is, and I've -- I've got
to get dressed, and I've got to get out of here, ok? So, look, just call me.
I'll call you --
Jax: Ok, all right.
Courtney: Whatever happens, ok?
I'll -- I'll just see you later, all right?
Jax: Sure, I'll just go.
Courtney: Ok.
Jax: Ok.
Courtney: Bye.
Jax: Enjoy your hair appointment.
Courtney: Thanks.
Jax: Ok, bye-bye.
Courtney: Ok.
The docks
[Jason sees Courtney first and
stares at her, she looks up and sees him, their eyes lock. She approaches him]
Courtney: I hate this tension
between us, Jason. I mean, just because we're not together doesn't mean we have
to be at each other's throats.
Jason: Well, if you had answered my
questions, I would've been out of there before Jax came back.
Courtney: I didn't answer your
question because I don't want to get dragged back into the drama, ok? Jax and I
are trying to stay away from your work.
Jason: "Jax and I"?
Wow, this thing with Jax is getting serious, isn't it?
Courtney: Yes. And it scares me
to death.
