[Courtney is running from her stalker, and runs right into Jason.  She pulls him into a kiss]

jason: What are you doing?

courtney: Jason, wait. God, i'm sorry. Ok, I -- it's this stupid bet with jax. I'm --

jason: It's a bet? Sam, let's go.  [They leave]

Jax: Look, courtney --

courtney: Would you just stop, jax? Just -- god, don't you just -- I can't do this anymore.

jax: Whoa, whoa, hold on a second. Are we going to talk about what happened?

Courtney: You know exactly what just happened and why.

Jax: No, I don'T. No, you got to explain yourself.

Courtney: God, jax, life is just one big joke to you, huh? All meaningless adventure and wagers. But you know what? People have feelings, ok? And it is not ok to exploit them.

Jax: Well, I agree with that. I'm just not -- why am i to blame for you kissing jason?

Courtney: Because you pushed me to do it! All right? I've tried everything to avoid you. I even signed myself into a convent.

Jax: Well, the habit didn't really suit you.

Courtney: Oh, very funny. You wouldn't back off, ok? So i did the worst thing that i could think of. You know, I pulled a carly. I got desperate, i saw a solution, and I went for it.

Jax: You were -- you were trying to throw jason in my face?

Courtney: Yeah -- I didn't even think or even consider how that would make jason feel.

Jax: Oh, I'm sure he'll get over it.

Courtney: Look, jax, i swore that i would never deliberately hurt jason --

jax: Oh.

Courtney: And today I did.

Jax: Oh, yeah? Why does this matter so much to you?

Courtney: Because a part of me still loves him.

Sam: I will take my bags upstairs.

Jason: No, I'll do it. Just -- just decide what you want for dinner, all right?

Sam: First, i want to talk to you, because I'm worried about you.

Jason: Why?

Sam: You've got to be hurting. Courtney used you.

Jason: No, sam, it's done.

Sam: You know, I used to be a lot like you.

[Jason sighs]

sam: I never wanted to talk about anything uncomfortable. I figured, what's the point?

Jason: Mm-hmm. Then you understand.

Sam: No, I was wrong. When you have someone who cares, someone who wants to help, normally, you open up, jason.

Jason: Mm-hmm.

Sam: Punch the wall, yell at me, do something.

Jason: Sam --

sam: I would have hated it if sonny treated me that way. It is completely disrespectful.

Jason: Sam, just -- just leave it alone.

Sam: You have to deal with this.

[Jason sighs]

sam: Courtney was the last person you let into your life, and she betrayed that trust today. Oh. Fine, I'm going to have this conversation with myself, but I'm not pretending not to see that you are hurting. What? It is too hard to bottle up your feelings. It eats away at you, i know. I used to do it all the time. I had to protect myself. I had to protect my brother. But my life -- it's better, now that i let go. Huh. You're just going to ignore me, just like that?

Jason: No, you know, I'm actually kind of hungry, so maybe we should make some food.

Sam: Oh, ok, I'm going to take that as a yes. You're going to ignore what just happened --

jason: What -- sam --

sam: You're going to ignore the fact that I'm trying to help you.

Jason: You're not helping me by talking so much all the time.

Sam: Because you won't let me.

Jason: No, because I don't need help. Courtney and i are over.

Sam: Ok, so you're saying that you don't care that she probably kissed you to make jax jealous?

Courtney: This bet is seriously messing with my mind, jax. I mean, I'm changing.

Jax: I've noticed. You're having a lot more fun.

Courtney: You call what just happened fun?

Jax: You know, if you just stop torturing yourself over what just happened with jason, you might actually realize that this has been pretty easy. You know? The stakes aren't life or death. No one is compromising themselves or their morals.

Courtney: I just did.

Jax: No, you acted on impulse. I think what you're struggling with is the fact that you're starting to realize that love doesn't have to come with misery, which is something you never experienced with jason or or with the other brother, a.J.

Courtney: Funny -- this isn't anything like my relationship with jason.

Jax: I know it isn't, because it doesn't hurt. And I'm never going to ask you to, you know, turn a blind eye to something that you believe is wrong. You always know where I am during the day. You know what I do for a living. You know how i make my money.

Courtney: Jason and I loved each other, despite all that, jax.

Jax: And now?

Courtney: Now? Now, i get whisked away to exotic islands, and we play games. We flirt, jax, that's all.

Jax: No. No, it's a lot more. It's a lot more than flirting. You and I are really enjoying each other's company, I think.

Courtney: It's strategy. That's all it is. I mean, you bet me that you could sleep with me, and now you are driven at all costs to win.

Jax: Well, so are you. We're both doing this.

Courtney: No, jax, there's no "we," ok? There never will be. By tomorrow night at 12:00, my foundation will have your $10 million and you will be out of my life for good.

Courtney: I told you i needed some time, jax.

Jax: You know why i can't do that.

Courtney: Look, the bet's not fun anymore.

Jax: No, no, it stopped being about the bet a long time ago, courtney. This is about us now, what we mean to each other and where we want this to go.

Courtney: Look, I told you -- I told you, once the bet's over, you're out of my life for good.

Jax: I don't believe that. We've changed, you and i. You know, we both thought that we were finished with the romance, that we were finished with love, but now there's hope. So i'm not giving up on you.
