The Loft

Jax: You know i've been hurt in the past, and i tried to shut off my feelings. I thought I could survive that way, until I fell for you. Now you've inspired me to take this chance. And since I started this, I -- I should be the one to say it first. I --

courtney: Stop.

Courtney: Jax, i love spending time with you. You know, I mean, I smile so much when i'm around you, my face even hurts.

Jax: Well, that's good.

Courtney: And you make me look forward to every day.

Jax: Beats wanting to crawl back under the covers.

Courtney: Yeah, I know that i would really miss being friends with you.

Jax: Friends?

Courtney: Ok. I've been leading you on, jax, and it's wrong. No, it's -- the truth is, is i am terrified of taking the next step. You know, and what we've been doing the last few months, it's -- it's safe. Look, I don't think I can make a relationship work. I've just got so much baggage.

Jax: You'll get past that.

Courtney: But you deserve more. And I'm not sure that I'll ever be ready for this.

Jax: Why? Because you're still in love with jason?

Courtney: Look, jax, jason's always going to matter to me.

Jax: You know, you've been honest with me about your feelings for jason, but I think you should be honest with yourself. I mean, you let go of jason a long time ago. I think what we have scares you because it's unfamiliar.

Courtney: Please, jax, don't make this any harder than it already is.

Jax: No, you believe that love has to hurt, that it isn't genuine unless it's tearing your heart out. But I think it's a lot more like the way you described it before -- that if you look forward to seeing someone every day, if they make you laugh and you enjoy their company, maybe that means you're falling for them.

Courtney: It means that i'm having fun.

Jax: I think it's more than that. That's why i'm not going to give up on you.

[Phone rings]

jax: Hmm. That'd be the phone.

[Ring]

courtney: [on the phone]Hello?

Carly: Hey. It's me. I'm over at kelly'S.

Courtney: Hey, is everything ok?

Carly: No, I just met the latest addition to your family.

Courtney: Great. What did diego do now?

Jax: Oh.

The Park

Jason: You worked with durant in manhattan. You both show up in port charles around the same time. Coincidence?

Steven: Look, I'm here to be close to my sister. It's true I asked john to put in a good word at the pcpd because I wanted to keep working as a forensic consultant.

Jason: Right, right, but whose plan was it to become friends with carly, yours or durant's?

Steven: I genuinely like carly.

Jason: You do?

Steven: Yeah.

Jason: Ok, so you know that durant is working carly for evidence. But maybe you have a problem with that now. Maybe durant's trying to force you into helping him anyway. Is that what you guys were arguing about? Were you trying to stop durant from using carly?

Outside Kelly's

Courtney: Hey.

Carly: Hey.

Courtney: I came as soon as you called. Where's diego?

Carly: He left.

Courtney: Well, is he ok?

Lucas: He's fine. Just a little mad.

Carly: Yeah, sonny and I walked in and diego and lucas were about to pulverize each other.

Courtney: Well, diego's supposed to be with lois at l&b, so --

lucas: Oh, well, lois decided to send diego on a date with brook and i. We came here afterwards and he started acting like a jerk --

carly: Ok, you know what, lucas, it's cool. Don't worry. I'll take care of it from here. It's cool.

Lucas: All right. Thanks, sis.

Carly: Go home.

Lucas: Going.  [he leaves]

Courtney: Look, I know -- I know that lucas and diego don't get along.

Carly: Yeah. Obviously, he was way out of line. But I would've made some kind of an allowance if i'd known he was staying with you.

Courtney: I know. Look, carly, i was going to call you and fill you in. I just -- you've just had so much going on, you know?

Carly: Do you want to go look for diego? I can help you.

Courtney: No, no, no, we should let him cool down. Seriously, i mean, the kid, he's -- he's just mad at the world right now.

Carly: Hmm. Yeah, well, I can relate.

Courtney: Wait, are you having problems with your father?

Carly: There's not going to be any relationship with my father.

The Park

Steven: I have no idea how john feels about carly. But I have worked with the man long enough to know when john wants something, he doesn't let anything stand in his way.

Jason: You know, it would just be a lot easier if you answer me. Are you working with durant to get evidence against sonny?

Steven: I'll do my job, just like you would, because john has opened up a lot of doors for me. And I don't always agree with his tactics, but I will always follow through with my assignments. And I imagine that you would do the same.

Jason: That's right.

Steven: Carly trusts you. She talks about you a lot. So i -- let's just make sure she doesn't get hurt.

[Diego pops out of the bushes]

Diego: Ok. Move real slow. Give me your gun. Whoa! Ugh!

[Jason takes Diego down]

Steven: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hey, hey, hey! What the hell happened here?

Diego: Ugh!

Steven: Hey, hey!

[Siren]

diego: I think it's broke.

Steven: Hey, it's ok, I'm a doctor. Come here. Whoa!

Diego: Forget it, man!

Steven: Do you want to tell me what happened here?

Jason: Tried to mug the wrong guy.

Steven: Bad move.

Diego: Yeah, no kidding.

Steven: Come here. Wiggle your fingers. Ok, now bend at the elbow.

Diego: Look, I'm fine. It's getting better.

Steven: Ok, I think you'll live. You going to press charges against this kid?

Diego: Yeah, try it. I'm a close friend of sonny corinthos.

Jason: That's a dangerous thing to lie about.

Diego: Who says i was lying? Sonny and I were talking maybe 20 minutes ago.

Steven: Oh, when you were talking, did you tell him that you going to mug his business partner?

Diego: Him?

Steven: You should be careful who you attack in a park. This is jason morgan.

Diego: Like corinthos-morgan? You're sonny's right-hand man. But I wasn't lying. I really was just with the guy. Got into a fight with his brother-in-law lucas.

Jason: All right, you know, just stop talking.

Diego: Ok, but, look, please don't bring the cops into this. I just got this really cool foster mom. Call her. She'll come pick me up. Her name is courtney matthews.

[Jason's head pops up and his eyes go wide]

Outside Kelly's

Carly: You know, I was really happy when john told me that he wanted to be a part of my life.

Courtney: What about his job?

Carly: Oh, it's in the way, and it always will be. Listen, I love sonny. I chose to be with him. I told john I -- I couldn't see him anymore.

Courtney: I know how hard this is on you.

Carly: You know, you just can't help missing what might have been.

The Loft

[Court comes home to find Diego on the couch and Jason leaning against the counter]

courtney: Hey, i just ran into carly.

Diego: Look, before you say anything else, there's something you should know. I made a mistake -- a tiny one. Ok, it was huge.

Courtney: Let's hear it.

Diego: I was walking through the park after getting into it with lucas, and I got this idea.

Jason: Get to the point.

Diego: Ok, I ran into your ex and I saw that he had a gun and I tried to take it from him.

Courtney: What?

Diego: I held him up with a stick.

Courtney: What, are you -- are you out of your mind? What do you need a gun for, anyway, diego?

Diego: I don't know! It's like I told you, sometimes I do stuff without thinking, ok?

Courtney: You could've been killed!

Jason: No, not really.

Courtney: Yeah, because you saw that he was just a kid and you chose not to shoot, but what if he -- what if he tried to mug alcazar? God, you know, i can't believe this.

Diego: Look, it's like -- it's like ms. Powell says, ok, I have too much time on my hands. I lack focus and goals, but it's ok because now i know what i want and i know how to get it.

Courtney: What are you talking about?

Diego: I want to work for you. Give me a job.

Courtney: No way in hell.

Courtney: Diego, this isn't a game, ok? What sonny and jason do is real and it can cost you a lot more than you realize.

Diego: Look, courtney's cool, but she doesn't get it. I'll prove myself. Give me a chance.

Courtney: Your chance is here with me, ok? You are going to stay in school so you can have a chance at a decent future!

Diego: Who wants to be decent when you can be rich and powerful?

Jason: Hey, listen, there's no job. You listen to courtney, and you better be good to her.

Courtney: Jason? Look, thank you for bringing him back.

Jason: Yeah, just good luck with him. I think you're going to need it.  

[he leaves]

Diego: I get it now. That's why you won't go all the way with jax, because you're still into your ex.
