Police Station

Jax: You just couldn't resist asking, could you? No matter how close you and I seem to get, in the end it's always about jason.

Courtney: Jason was framed.

Jax: Or so you believe.

Courtney: What, jax, he's being accused of a crime he didn't commit. Just because i think that's wrong doesn't mean my whole life is about jason.

Mac: All right, jax, let's go. I'll take you downstairs and process your release.

Jax: See you later.

[Jason is brought in]

Jason: I want my lawyer, ric.

Ric: Yeah, well, you're going to need one to get out of here. We got an eyewitness -- the hotel maid at john durant's hotel. She overheard you promise to kill durant if he laid a finger on courtney.

Ric: The maid stated that durant threatened to ruin courtney's reputation and even send her to prison by indicting her for laundering mob money through her foundation. Now, i know you care about courtney, and so you dealt with it the only you knew how in order to protect her, so you shot him. A little sloppy this time, though. Your characteristic professionalism kind of went right out the window. That is what happened, isn't it, jason, huh? I mean, durant pushed your buttons by threatening courtney, right?

Jason: I'm not going to talk without my lawyer.

Ric: Ok. Well, justus is good. I'm sure he can prove this was a crime of passion, should get your sentence knocked down to 20 years. Officer, take mr. Morgan here into interrogation one.  

[Courtney follows them into the interrogation room]

Courtney: So, is it true? Did you shoot durant to protect me?

Jason: No, but I would have.

Outside…

Mac: That's it for the paperwork, jax. Jax, you're free to go.

Jax: Well, it appears my dinner date is otherwise engaged.

Mac: Yeah, a hotel maid overheard jason talking to john durant. It seems durant provoked jason by threatening courtney.

[Sam comes in]

Jax: If you're here to support jason, I think you might be a little late.

Interrogation room

Courtney: You were defending me. That's why the police brought you in here?

Jason: I know. I can handle this.

Courtney: But, jason, carly's dad used me to provoke you, and now you're in all this trouble --

jason: Courtney, all you have to do is just run your foundation and live your life. That's what you wanted. That's all i want for you.

Courtney: I'm not just going to stand by while you go to prison.

Jason: You want to help me? Just hold on to the life that you've made.

Outside

Jax: Well, I've been released. You still want to go to bermuda?

Courtney: I'm not sure. I --

jax: You're worried about jason?

Courtney: Look, jax, I'll meet you later, ok? There's something that i have to deal with before we take off.

John's hospital room

[Knock on door]

carly: Hey.

Courtney: Carly --

carly: Courtney, hey. Come on in. Come here. I want you to meet my father. This is john durant. John, this is courtney. She's my best friend and it's my sister-in-law.

John: Hey.

Courtney: Hi. Can I have a word with you real quick?

Carly: Yeah, sure.

Courtney: Thanks.

Carly: I'll be back.

Courtney: They've taken jason back into custody for shooting your father.

Carly: I thought they didn't have enough evidence.

Courtney: Yeah, well, some maid said that she heard jason threaten durant.

Carly: What?

Courtney: Look, durant wanted jason to stop warning you away from him, so he pretty much told jason if he didn't back off he was going to ruin my foundation.

Carly: Wait. Are you sure about all this?

Courtney: Yeah, well, jason's pretty much confirmed it, carly. Anyway, he lost his temper. He threatened to kill durant. Now the police -- they're saying that that shows premeditation. But they're wrong, carly. Jason didn't shoot durant.

Carly: No, I know, I know, I know.

Courtney: Ok, well, he was framed, so can you -- can you convince your father to clear jason's name and get him released?

The Docks

Jax: Hey, hey. I called the restaurant and the hotel. I told them that we'd be a little late, so unfortunately, we'll miss the bermuda sunset, but we can still dine under the stars.

Courtney: Jax --

jax: Don't tell me that you're having second thoughts.

Courtney: Look, it's not a good time to leave.

Jax: Because jason got arrested again?

Courtney: Look, the cops are convinced that he did it. The evidence is stacked up against him.

Jax: You divorced him -- you divorced him a year ago, ok? Don't get pulled back into this. Ok, I'm offering you a chance to get away. Take it.

Courtney: Jax, he threatened durant because durant threatened me.

Jax: Well, he probably still loves you, you know, to the limited degree that he's capable.

Courtney: You have no idea what he is or isn't capable of.

Jax: Look, if he truly loved you -- listen to me -- if he truly loved you, then he would value your well-being over his and he would tell you to stay out of this mess.

Courtney: He did.

Jax: Well, then, trust his judgment if you can't trust mine. My pilot and i will leave at 8:00, and i hope that you can make it. It's up to you.

The Police Station

[Courtney comes in and sees Jason listening to Sam's stomach (GAG!)]

Sam: No, it's not her heartbeat.

Jason: What?

Sam: It's hiccups.

Jason: Hiccups?

Sam: Yeah.

Jason: Are you uncomfortable?

Sam: No. No, not at all. I'm actually -- I'm kind of enjoying it.

Jason: Ok.

Sam: You better get used to seeing me around here, because if you don't get out on bail, i'm going to be visiting a lot.

Jason: I might be out sooner than i expected.

Sam: What? Did you find out who the shooter is?

Jason: Well, sonny and I have a theory, but --

sam: "But"? What is it?

Jason: All right, maybe i'll tell you tomorrow if you go home and get some rest.
