Tv announcer: No comment on the startling revelation that ric lansing, jason morgan's attorney, is now a suspect in the case. But according to --

[elizabeth turns tv off]

courtney: Oh, hey --

elizabeth: Do you mind?

Courtney: I want to watch the news.

Elizabeth: Yeah, well, it's distracting for the customers. You know what? Ric isn't going to turn on jason and brenda, if that's what you're worried about.

Courtney: Well, how do you know what ric is going to do?

Elizabeth: I saw him at the police station when i went to offer my help.

Courtney: Ok, wait -- jason's on trial for murder and you went to help the guy who could be the real killer?

Elizabeth: Come on, courtney -- the guy lives upstairs. He's nice and we happen to be friends.

Courtney: Wow. Does it make any difference to you --

A.J.: Coffee to go, please. Do i sense hostility? Now, since one of you was dumped by my brother, who's now sleeping with my unfaithful wife, my guess is --

elizabeth: Ok, A.J., A.J., Carly and bobbie have barred you from the diner. I was about to do you a favor, but I've changed my mind, so could you leave?

A.J.: Watch your back. She lied to me, she can lie to you.

Courtney: Thanks.

Elizabeth: Don'T. I only told A.J. To leave because I don't like him enough to tell him I agree with every word he said.

Courtney: Hey, i'm going to take off.

Elizabeth: So you can go to the trial?

Courtney: Well, if it's still going on today, yeah, I want to be there.

Elizabeth: You know, courtney, if you and jason are trying to hide the fact that you're sleeping together, you probably shouldn't be showing up at the trial.

Courtney: Ok, elizabeth, you know what? If the d.A. Convicts jason or brenda, the next person who's going to be indicted is sonny, my brother? You know, the one who you said helped you whenever you needed it? Ok, even if I had never met jason, i would still want to be there for sonny. Ok, listen, thank you for not mentioning anything about jason and I to anyone. [she leaves]

PH4
[Carly comes in] Carly: Jason? Jason, if you're getting dressed, don't.

Jason: Carly, what -- what happened? Did they get a postponement?

Carly: No, not that i know of.

Jason: Ok, well, then i got to be in the courtroom in half an hour.

Carly: Ok, well, not wearing that.

Jason: What are you talking about? You always told me i got to dress up for these court appearances. You gave me a whole speech.

Carly: Well, you are on trial for murder, ok? Put this on. I bought it for you.

Jason: I have a shirt on.

Carly: Yeah, well, you need to wear this one.

Jason: Carly, look, i don't have time for this right now.

Carly: Jason, it doesn't matter if you are late as long as you walk into that courtroom looking innocent.

Jason: What does that have to do with the shirt that I'm wearing right now?

Carly: Look, this one's better. It matches your eyes. I went through about 50 of them. Will you please -- look -- if you put this on, it'll make you appear more soft, more gentle. More like the person that you are inside, and not like sonny's hired killer, which is exactly what scott is going to try and convince everybody that you are.

Jason: Ok, carly, slow down, ok? I appreciate what you're trying to do. I like the shirt, and I promise that i'll wear it, but not today, ok?

Carly: Jason, this is the beginning of the trial.

Jason: You know what? I don't even know if there is going to be a trial. I don't know where brenda is.

Carly: She ran away?

Jason: No, no, she didn't run away.

Carly: Well, jason, don't try and even give her the benefit of the doubt right now. What the --

jason: Look, brenda's a pain, ok? She's selfish. She was safely out of the country with jax and she came all the way back. Now, why would she go through all that trouble just to disappear on the morning of a trial, especially alone?

Carly: Well, maybe she realized that there was nothing for her here. Maybe she realized that she didn't want jax after all, and since sonny's not an option, she decided there was no reason for her to be here in port charles. You know what? It's not like she gives a damn if you go to prison.

Jason: Actually, she does.

Jason: Ok.

Carly: You are on your way to court to be tried for first-degree murder. You wouldn't have even been arrested if brenda hadn't needed to be saved again.

Jason: Yeah.

Carly: Ok, she used you, she deserted you, and now you're defending her?

Jason: I'm saying we shouldn't jump to conclusions so fast.

Carly: The trial is about to begin. She's not here.

Jason: No, she's not home, ok? She could be anywhere. She could be taking a walk. Maybe she's out buying a new pair of shoes. Who knows what brenda thinks is a good idea on the morning of a trial? Maybe she had a fight with jax. Or maybe she just needed five minutes to think without people telling her what to do, what to wear, how to look in court, that it's her fault this is happening. But if she does the right thing, she can still get out of this, and one day that's leave the country, the next day that's trust this lawyer, trust that lawyer, cut a deal to testify. You know, maybe she's just tired of everyone telling her that everything's always going to work out.

Carly: Jason --

[jason sighs]

carly: Are you afraid?

Jason: What, am i scared to go to jail? I just know that whatever it takes, i won't let myself be locked up. I don't want to do this, carly. I don't want to sit in that courtroom for days with people staring at me, telling me how either I'm this vicious person or that i'm this brain-damaged idiot who didn't know what I was doing. And I don't want to watch sonny cut himself open because he thinks he put me in this position. And I don't want you buying me shirts because you think i won't get convicted. I -- I just -- I don't like seeing you scared, or courtney. Or anyone that i care about.

Carly: Ok, you know what? How about this -- how about i won't tell you what to do until the end of the trial. I won't buy you any more shirts. I'll just be on your side, ok? Whatever it takes, whatever it means, i'm on your side.

Jason: Oh, thanks. All right, let's go.

Carly: Ok. Wait, wait, your jacket. You need a jacket.

Jason: Ok.

Carly: You set?

The Courthouse
A.J.: Excuse me. What the --

coleman: Ric lansing's been cleared. My conscience got to me and I admitted that I was in the alley when alcazar's body fell and i saw lansing there, too, so he couldn't be the killer.

A.J.: Good work, as usual. [he leaves]

Courtney: Now I get it -- you've been helping A.J. Frame jason.

Courtney: You know, when that ida woman came out of nowhere and claimed that she saw brenda kill alcazar, and that jason paid her to change her story, I knew it was a lie. I mean, I knew that somehow a.J. Paid that woman to frame jason and brenda. Now I know how he pulled it off -- he hired you to do his dirty work, again.

Coleman: What are you talking about? A.J. Didn't hire me to do anything.

Courtney: Oh, god, there is no job too low for you, is there? I mean, blackmail, stalking, and now murder?

Coleman: Look, I have never killed anybody.

Courtney: Oh, so, what, now old ladies don't count?

Coleman: I didn't kill that old lady and i don't know who did.

Courtney: You know what? Just save your explanations for my brother. I'm going to let sonny deal with this.

Coleman: Wait, look -- wait – [grabs her arm]

courtney: No, don't -- don't – [pulls away]

coleman: Ok, ok.

Courtney: Don't ever touch me again.
