Outside Kelly's

Courtney: I'm so glad to see you here. Did the cops drop the charges against you?

Jason: They released me, but I'm not supposed to leave town because they might charge me again.

Courtney: Because of a.J., Right? Because he told them that you were driving alcazar's limo.

Jason: Look, A.J.'S word isn't proof of anything.

Courtney: A.J. Went to the cops to prove to me that you were some sort of killing machine or he did it to pay me back for breaking up with him. Either way, I'm the reason that you got arrested.

Jason: Courtney, A.J. Would've turned me over to the cops for any reason. There's no way you're to blame for any of this.

Courtney: But my brother is.

Jason: Courtney, don'T. Don't start on sonny.

Courtney: It doesn't take a huge leap to figure out that sonny sent you to that hotel -- not that i'd expect you to admit it. You'd do anything that sonny says and take the blame when it goes wrong?

Jason: Look, if you want to be mad at sonny for yourself, I can't stop you, but don't do it for me.

Courtney: Why aren't you mad, jason? Why do you think it's fair that you might be facing prison and sonny isn't?

Jason: If i answer that, will you -- will you really try to listen and understand me?

Courtney: Of course.

Jason: You know i'm brain damaged, right? From the accident?

Courtney: That's what a.J. Said, but i -- I just thought he was being cruel. Well, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with you.

Jason: Yeah, well, I guess i'm -- i guess i'm better now, whatever that means. Anyway -- when i hit my head on the rock, part of my brain just -- just shut down. And when i woke up, I didn't know anything about my life or who i was supposed to be. I didn't -- I didn't understand what it meant when people said they loved me. I didn't belong anywhere or to anyone. Then one night, at luke's, i -- I lost it and that's where i met sonny.

Courtney: Tell me about it.

Jason: Well, there was this girl, keesha, who thought I was her boyfriend and we were supposed to be in love, but I didn't remember anything at all, and she kept telling me, "hey, things are going to be normal, you're going to be normal," and i -- I just couldn't listen anymore and I couldn't take it and I snapped. And I threw a chair across the room and people were there. I left and that's when sonny followed me out.

Courtney: He felt bad for you?

Jason: No, he didn't feel bad for me and that's exactly my point. Sonny was the first person who treated me like I wasn't some kind of freak. I mean, he treated me like i was an equal who deserved respect. Then a couple of months later, he offered me a job and i took it and I never looked back. Your brother gave me my life and I could never be loyal enough to pay him back.

Courtney: I understand better now. But, jason, I still don't want you to go to jail, not for sonny or anybody else.

Jason: I won'T. [Phone rings] Yeah?

Sonny: Brenda got arrested. I'm going to arrange for a lawyer, but I think it's best that I stay clear of the cops.

Jason: Yeah, yeah, it's no problem. I'm legally her husband, so i should be the one to go anyway.

Sonny: All right. Don't let her do anything crazy, get herself incriminated.

Jason: Don't worry. I'll take care of it.

Courtney: Is brenda in trouble?

Jason: Yeah. I got to go.

Courtney: Jason? Thank you, for explaining things.

Jason: Thank you for, you know, trying to understand. Most people wouldn't even listen.
