Quartermaine Mansion
A.J.: Look around. Huh? Nice
place to live, right?
Janine: What, are you kidding me?
It's the lap of luxury. Hot- and cold-running servants. What's not to love?
A.J.: Exactly. And my brother
threw all this away -- the quartermaine name, money, power, perks, all of it.
And for what? To work for some crime lord and be his lackey? I mean, is this
the kind of guy you want to marry your daughter?
Janine: Well, before you get too
full of yourself, A.J., Let me remind you that courtney would still be living
here if you hadn't tried to use her as leverage over sonny.
A.J.: I'm not saying i didn't
make terrible mistakes and blow everything. But I love courtney. Part of me
always will. But this is from my heart. I know my brother better than you. He's
a killer, ok? A remorseless, brain-damaged thug. And I want you to use all the
influence you have over your daughter to stop her from throwing her life away
on my brother.
Janine: I don't know. Courtney
can be awfully stubborn when she gets her mind set on something.
A.J.: She's just blinded by her
attraction to jason. But you could get her to see that -- you know, possibly
see things from a different point of view. "Mommy knows best" sort of
thing?
Janine: I could probably come at
her with a little more conviction if I weren't so low on funds.
A.J.: I knew you'd say that.
Excuse me. Ahem. Will this do for starters?
Janine: Whoa. Whatever idiot said
money can't buy happiness?
A.J.: For fortification.
Janine: Hmm. You think of
everything.
A.J.: It's a gift. So i will hear
from you soon?
Janine: This entitles you to the
best I've got.
A.J.: Bye-bye.
Skye: Shame, shame, shame on you.
A.J.: Ahem. How long you been
there?
Skye: Well, long enough to decide
I'm not going to let you booby-trap courtney's path to true love.
Kelly's
Courtney: I feel really bad,
carly, i mean, not to mention mortified.
Carly: Don't be ridiculous.
Courtney: Well, you went to so
much trouble to throw me such a beautiful shower, and what happens? My past
turns up and ruins it.
Carly: As far as showers go, I've
been to worse. Some of them have been my own. But if you really want to make it
up to me and you feel that badly, then --
courtney: Absolutely. Anything.
Carly: Help me find that damn
baby mobile that i lost here yesterday.
PH4
[ Sonny and Jason are trying on
tuxes]
Sonny: You better hope carly
doesn't find out you paid off her fancy tux guy to go away.
Jason: It was either that or
elope. Who made up these wedding rules, anyway?
Sonny: That would be emily post,
I think.
Jason: Well, you know what? I
don't even want to know about her. She's doing all the stuff i hate.
Sonny: You got to hang in there,
jason. You know why?
[Jason sighs]
sonny: It's all going to be worth
it in the end. I mean, I know. I'm a marriage expert -- three times to the same
lady. And I'd do it again in a second just to see the look in carly's eyes.
Women love getting married. You'll see. Miami -- they're going to be sending
another message.
Jason: Wait, we'll -- we'll talk
about that when we're finished.
Man: Da la vuelta, por favor.
Sonny: Yes.
Man: Mantiene tu brazo
derecho levantado.
Sonny: No, I know what I'm doing.
Jason: He only speaks spanish?
Sonny: Yeah, not a word of
english. And even if he understood, you know, he owes me his immigration status,
not to mention his life.
Jason: All right.
Sonny: Ready?
Jason: I got here a few ideas
about how miami might come after you next.
Sonny: So do I, so --
max: You can't go in there.
Janine: The last guy couldn't
stop me.
Max: No one gets in without an
appointment.
Janine: I'm family. I don't need
an appointment.
Sonny: What's going on? What do
you want?
Janine: Well. I hope you've got a
prom coming up because there's no way in hell I'm letting courtney marry you.
Janine: This isn't personal,
jason. In fact, i thought you looked pretty yummy in that tuxedo, as a matter
of fact. It's just that looks don't count for much. You can't pay the mortgage
with them. You can't eat them for dinner. Huh. You need cold, hard cash for
that. And you had it, tons of it! How in the hell could you give up a
quartermaine inheritance to come work for this glorified thug?
Jason: Was that a question?
Janine: Hell, yes, that was a
question, and I expect an answer if you want to marry my daughter. Look, I am
completely justified in being concerned here because, from what I can tell, you
-- you're, like, clinically weird. And you, sonny, get that look off your face.
I'm talking to you. I know exactly what you're up to here. You ordered your
soldier to marry my daughter so that you could tighten your hold on both of
them. Now, with this guy i've got nothing vested, but you know -- you damn well
know how invested i am in my baby girl. She is just so trusting, she doesn't
know you're setting her up. But I do, and I'm going to tell her.
Jason: Look, nobody's being set
up or forced to do anything they don't want to do.
Janine: You say you love my
daughter? Well, then, you prove it. You walk away from sonny right now and you
go back to your life as a quartermaine.
The Quartermaine Mansion
Skye: Why should i just sit back
and let you pull one over on courtney yet again?
A.J.: Just trying to help.
Skye: Oh, please. You're plying
that moneygrubbing mother of hers with cash and booze to ruin courtney's
happiness.
A.J.: Well, excuse me. I mean,
who is this -- this self-righteous goody two-shoes, and what the hell have you
done with my self-serving skye? Oh, wait a minute. You're working on a little
extortion here, huh? How much you want?
Skye: Gee, i think i'm offended.
A.J.: You'll get over it.
Skye: You are looking at the new,
improved skye, the one who channels her efforts into worthy goals.
A.J.: Right.
Skye: Although, sometimes
achieving those goals might take a special kind of help that only a certain
kind of person can provide.
A.J.: Pretty convoluted way of
saying you want something. Why didn't you just ask?
Skye: I did, in blackmail -- the
only language you understand.
PH4
Jason: I'm not interested in
being a quartermaine. Neither is courtney.
Janine: You sound like you think
you know my daughter pretty well.
Jason: That's right.
Janine: You know what you're
missing here? The impact that a mother's opinion can have on her child. But I'm
not really that surprised because the concept of family doesn't seem to mean
much to you. Could you try to get a clue here, jason? Raising a kid alone is
not easy, but one of the payoffs is the power that you have over how that kid
turns out. I'm talking choices -- good, bad, right, wrong. Are you keeping up
with me here?
Jason: Let me ask you a question.
Are you happy with the choices you made when you raised courtney?
Janine: You're not good enough
for my daughter, are you? And you're going to marry her over my dead body.
Sonny: Janine, do you ever stop
yapping? Because there's only one reason why you would poke your nose where it
doesn't belong. So what I'm going to do, [Courtney and Carly walk in] I'm going
to offer you $500,000 to shut your mouth and leave jason and courtney alone.
$500,000 -- do you know what that is?
Janine: Is that what you want,
baby? Do you want your mama to leave you alone?
Janine: Oh, honey, i am so glad
you walked in when you did. You got to hear for yourself what a cold-blooded,
evil pig your brother is, trying to pay me off to abandon my daughter.
Carly: Courtney, don't even take
this at face value.
Courtney: I won't, i won't. I've
learned when it comes to my mother that there's always another side. So, what's
going on, guys?
Sonny: Well, janine doesn't think
jason's good enough for you. I know better. I want you happy. I just offered
her a couple pennies, you know, so she could --
jason: Yeah, you know, janine wants
me to go back to the quartermaines, doesn't want us to get married.
Janine: Ok, I just ask an
innocent question, and your fiance here rips into me like some kind of rabid
dog.
Courtney: Why are you always
making trouble for me?
Janine: Hey, i'm trying to look
out for you.
Courtney: That's not what i need.
A little support would be nice.
Janine: Ok, honey, i -- look, I
understand about sexual attraction, and he is -- he's a babe. But why do you
have to marry him?
Courtney: Because I love him,
mom. And I love you, too, and i want you to be at our wedding, but don't make
me choose, ok?
[Phone rings]
jason: Yeah. All right, all
right. No, no, no, we'll be right there.
Sonny: What?
Jason: We got to go.
Janine: Hey -- wait -- what --
we're in -- we're having a family discussion here.
Sonny: Janine, shut up.
Janine: What kind of -- is this
making some kind of statement that your gangster business is more important
than the love that you profess to my daughter?
Jason: We're getting married no
matter what she thinks.
Carly: Ok, where the hell do you
get off? You don't even know jason at all. He is kind. He is brave. He is
loyal. Janine, don't worry. He's got more money than he'll ever be able to
spend.
Janine: Yeah, well, if you like
him so much, why don't you marry him?
Carly: Oh --
[phone rings]
carly: What?
Elizabeth: Hey, carly, it's
elizabeth.
Carly: It's not a good time.
Elizabeth: I'm at kelly's right
now and I need to see you. It's important. Thanks.
Warehouse
Sonny: I want to look at the
shipment.
Jason: Open that one up.
[Sonny finds drugs in the
shipment]
Sonny: How much did our friend in
miami ante up to buy my accountant? And don't even think about lying, greg.
Greg: $1 million. Plus he'd let
me walk away with my life.
Sonny: You disappoint me, greg.
And you do benny a great disservice.
Greg: If you'd let me explain --
sonny: I don't want you to
explain!
Sonny: There's only one thing you
can do to save yourself.
Greg: Anything.
Sonny: The supplier in miami --
what's his name?
PH4
Courtney: Why can't you
understand that I love jason? I mean, he makes me happier than i have ever been
in my life.
Janine: For now, honey, but he's
not what you need for the long haul.
Courtney: How do you know what i
need? When did you learn, mom? When you were at home, i was at school. When i
got home, you went to work.
Janine: Ok, I admit that i wasn't
the kind of mother that i wanted to be, but I was forced to work nights. Ok,
maybe that's not completely true. I chose to because the other option was going
on welfare. Maybe I should've done that.
Courtney: I am not blaming you,
mom.
Janine: Yes, you are. And now
you're punishing me by repeating my mistakes.
Courtney: Ugh, that's ridiculous!
Janine: No, it's not! The reason
that I worked nights and left my little girl alone at home was because I got
knocked up by a gambler, and now you're marrying one.
Courtney: Jason is not a gambler.
Janine: Oh, yes, he is, and he's
just like mike. The only difference is that mike was small time and jason is
high stakes. Baby, I wish you would listen to me. Because one way or another,
jason -- he's going to break your heart.
Courtney: Then i guess my heart
is a lot stronger than you seem to think.
Warehouse
Jason: We're no closer to getting
a name in miami than we were before we busted greg.
Sonny: Yeah, we can still send a
message.
Jason: Yeah, we can start by
dumping these drugs in the harbor, make it too expensive for them to try again.
Sonny: We can force him to show
his face. Hold on to the drugs, see if he makes contact.
Jason: It's too risky.
Sonny: Yeah, but it's necessary.
I'm not -- you know, how am i going to fight if I don't know who the enemy is?
